I want to use this opportunity to draw the attention of APC chieftains. They should not neglect the wishes of minority groups. You can ask the Republicans. These groups can form a political party and challenge the majority so that their voices can be heard. Also, you cannot fight them with arms because it is a criminal offence and jail time awaits such person(s).

APC should begin to create political positions for these groups in order to calm their nerves and ambition. They should know they are dealing with very ambitious tribes, who are creating a niche for themselves. The Presidential election have shown that they have a voice. The Governorship election might even spring a surprise just because they feel their voices need to be heard.

Respect their wishes, their decision and their voice. Do not ignore them on the premise that they are non-indigenes. You might escape 2015; but 2019 would be tougher.

A yoruba man can contest based on the constitution but like we all know, yorubas do not like to travel except civil servants who were posted to those locations.
no.i think yoruba pple like travelling to places better than where they are.what is there to pick in d SE?.u can only compare d least develped state in d SW with d most develped in d SE.if SE is that good, ndigbo would not want to 'die' in Lagos.

Nigeria belongs to everybody and not for a particular tribe. If you do not perform and alleviate the suffering of the masses, must they vote for you on the basis of tribal sentiments - NO.

These Igbos are resident of Lagos, many are even citizens due to their birth. You cannot deny a man his right.
After they announce the winner of the presidential election..that s when i wld av ur tym..but till then wake up this is nija

Wake up daughter.

Correct!

Nothing really serious.
It basically just represents the ethnic population. Didn't Zik and a next Ijaw guy win in Lagos during the first republic?

However, based on how Nigeria is - a country of many countries - lording over the whole state, especially the Yoruba kings would cause a lot of trouble, with rivers of blood. They just need to be contented with this one and not get greedy, before it blows up in their faces.

I know a lot of Yorubas, even the decision makers in Lagos PDP, who selected these folks would be gnashing their teeth right now loool.

Nothing serious. Alas it represented the population percentile of the other groups in Lagos, albeit with irregularities. About 15% of other ethnicities representing Lagos at the federal level isn't bad and it is a wake up call to Yorubas. This is always going to happen, anyway.

Just take a look at the numbers from the North and compare it with SW - it shows Yorubas didn't come out to vote.

They went for the big one at the centre and lost a little bit at home - not bad. Please, no violence - suck it in, and make ya votes count during the governorship election.
One bottle for you, a matured take on the issue.. God bless you sir.. Am still hoping for a Buhari victory. Who would have thought a day like this will come, opposition party winning votes in Nigeria. God bless all Nigerians!!

Stop giving yourself a false hope, results has been announced & APC leads with over 100,000 votes.

Aside those Igbos & the Niger deltan that won, the rest are APC defeating APC because they are APC members before decamping due to internal crisis, the issue of those non yorubas winning will be revisited & check in 4years time.
Same thing with PDP at national and the ones that will win at the state level come 11th of april

You are making a mistake my daughter to pick on a particular tribe, you have forgotten that they are Niger Deltans (Edos, Deltans, Rivers etc); you have also forgotten that they are middle-belt residents in Lagos. It is not just the Igbos alone. Do not fall into that trap. These minority groups are very powerful. They only thing the Lagos politicians can do is create positions for them so that they do not become politically outspoken.

Igbo said lagos state belong to nobody, they have overstayed their welcome in lagos, a yoruba man can not contest in Anambra or Enugu
the yoruba man should summon courage and live in south east, invest there and learn the culture, otherwise yoruba cant contest, lagos was developed with oil not gbegiri so it is for all Nigerians
Re: APC Loses Six Rep Seats In Lagos As Igbo Political Clout Grows. by GoldHorse(m): 8:55am On Mar 31, 2015
Yorubas are the most "detribalize" ethnic group in Nigeria and this is what make us great just like America (Lagos is a typical example). We intermarry freely, we welcome visitors freely and allow them to flourish too.

So you guys should stop claiming your clout is this and that and you will take over this and this soon before you start sending wrong signals to various people. Most people might not mind accommodating friends but please be sure that NOBODY will want that "friend" to take over or change that leadership/ownership equation and might do whatever it takes legally or otherwise to prevent the apparent "takeover". The same America is a typical example here too (the relationship between white and blacks).
So please don't start what you can't finish! Don't sensitive people to the wrong thing, don't make them aware of what is not there because, believe me, you won't enjoy the outcome.

Your business (which I know it's the reason majority of you are here for) will not be as pleasant or profitable when your host community doesn't like your face and you can quote as many laws as you like it won't change a thing.
How will you like if one Mr Ngbatingbati that has been living in Onitsha since whenever claiming he will take over the leadership of the great Onitsha market for starters?!

So please STOP THIS!

[color=#1980BC] We believe this is a victory for the igbo reps, a victory for democracy and an egg in the face for those who who have always denigrated them, deport them even hurt their bizness, let it be noted here that we are not decieved by their consolatory "this shows yorubas are the most detribalized" bullsh**t.Now we forsee political juggernauts in the state courting us like brides, some might even go far with prominent positions in LASG....but we stand firmly behind Jimi Agbaje. You are somehow right my fellow Nairalander. Just dont hate them, let them live their life. there has never been an area in igbo land that yorubas dominated niether there is dominated area by the hausas in their land. The Ibos never want outsiders to be part of them. yet, they claim that the yorubas are the tribalism. take a good look at the results from their region, it is really disheartening, ambigous and unreliable.
We give them freedom of to do whatever they want to do in our land.
How stupid can some of you fools be? Have you ever been to any part of Igboland before? Have anybody rejected you the right to carry out any business activity in Igboland? I'm from Ozubulu in Anambra state, I have 2 surgeries and both were performed by an Hausa doctor living and doing his business in Ozubulu, his hospital used to be along the udorji road, just very close to the Ekwusigo local government secretariat.

Stay in your enclave and keep wallowing in your stupidity while great minds are thinking and discussing ideas. Our first target is achieved, the next is senatorial seat in Lagos and boom, we are coming for the big one while you and your likes keep whining like a demented souls on Niraland. You haven't seen nothing yet.

To me, this is not a victory for the Igbos, but victory of the minority and victory for our democracy, there are Yorubas who voted those Igbo and the Edo candidates. Their constituency project will not be taken to any part of Igboland rather, they will be developing Lagos state for good of the people. If they provide water or road, refuse to use them ok?

The mods should re-title this thread. I find the title calculated to incense and infuriate the Yorubas. I am aware that mods do adapt/adjust thread titles before they get to the front page.

The original post on Vanguard does not include "...as Igbo Political Clout Grows". This appendage is not only mischievous and bound to lead to another ugly tribal spat here, it is unnecessary. The mods responsible for this section should act appropriately. Thanks.

Most people posting here are either not students of history or they are very young.
Lagos was our Federal Capital and as such Nigerian resources were deployed to develop it to the level that it was till when the capital was moved to Abuja.Lagos was therefore built up by all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or tongue.
We really need to grow up as a people to know that Democracy is a game of numbers and not any other consideration and as such we must begin to think about how to gather the numbers and not be here playing tribal politics that won't take us anywhere.
If you notice, for as long as the Yoruba's played the tribal politics with their AD,Afenifere etc.Igbo's APGA .Ohaneze and Hausa's CPC ,Arewa etc nothing happened with the opposition for 16years till they realised the futility of tribal politics and formed APC,They are currently on the verge of making history of dislodging an incumbent President for the first time in Nigeria.Tribalism is outdated in modern Nigeria so let's grow up.
