Really, all these praises for President Jonathan, how? All of a sudden? After all the insults and curses? We suddenly realise he is meek, gentle and honourable? With all the defaming cartoons and jokes? Suddenly he is a hero of democracy? I'm shocked. Very shocked. Oh! We now see he created a level playing field for all. That he could have hijacked the system because he had the powers, but chose to allow democracy grow? Termed weak, foolish, useless and all sorts. Some of us had to preach here on facebook and twitter to brethren, "Christians" who used the most defamatory words on a head of state, to desist from cursing our leaders.Some days we were stoned with harsh and piercing words for daring to preach truth. But today, GOODLUCK is a hero of democracy? Setting a precedent for the whole of Africa? Please tell me I'm dreaming, because it's not true. Whether we want to accept it or not... GEJ did a very honourable thing today; and I knw others in his shoes wouldn't have done Even d hard core buhari supporters knw DAT the difference is clear If it was d other way round, we would have been counting how many pple and places r on fire, bomb,guns etc...GOD forbid! Last night Jonathan knew he had lost and there was a vote padding exercise to help him catch up. Even his play on religion failed in the north central zone. The violence and protests and rigging in Rivers State, Enugu and akwa ibom show he will ignore the voice of those he claims to hold dear. Sorry to say but if the pdp had succeeded in getting Jega to drop the card reader (after it was approved, budgeted, appropriated and spent), the pdp would have successfully stolen the election. These are not the actions of an honourable man. If he had called to concede at 11am it would have been significant, but to call hours after all the mathematics in the world suggest you have failed... Well, what was the point? The press already knew he was done. All the same, I'm sure he is relieved to be a free man again. For that the nation celebrates. In less than 2 weeks, we will mark the first anniversary of the Chibok girls mass kidnapping. History will be harsh on him, and he will regret not keeping to his one term promise. Yes. Jonathan deserves the praises he is getting for conceding. Sit tight syndrome is the major bane of African democratic experiments and Jonathan by refusing to sit tight has proven himself to be a true statesman and set an example for future leaders of the country. He is a hero of democracy. His gesture signals the end of the experimental phase of Nigeria's democracy and the beginning of real democracy in our country. |
