How about Tambuwal who decamped as Speaker to APC? Was he not a Speaker then from Minority party? Is that not a precedence?
. Tambuwal was a PDP man as a speaker but defected at the dying minute and still remained speaker. You cannot compare the time he was in PDP to the time he was in APC as speaker. If he had defected in his early years as speaker,he would have been impeached.
There is no way a minority will become either the senate or speaker. That's the fact!

Saraki is about to take the seat his father once occupied. But I understand there is an APC senator from Edo (SS). However, he is a first time senator, he may be out muscled by Saraki in terms of experience and politicking. By now people should really stop this fo0lish day dreaming. How can a PDP senator lead a house with APC majority. As at when Tambuwal was made the speaker of the House of Rep, he was a PDP member. So the Tambuwal example does not apply at all. It is either the new Edo senator or Saraki. But I think Saraki is more suitable.

This sounds false.

APC excos are not lunatics and would never try that so let's not waste our time arguing back and forth.

I'd like a senate president from the SE too. Perhaps a sensible one currently in the PDP can be persuaded to decamp.

No PDP nonsense senate president though. They have done enough.

Why must he decamp if he's sensible? Does staying in PDP undermine his intelligence or his people's support?

I dont think this can be true.it might be an april fool. How will Tibunu want his wife to the senate president when his hand picked vice president is from south west. The senate president cant be from south west.
Re: War In APC Over Oluremi Tinubu For Senate President by Nobody: 12:54pm On Apr 01, 2015
I don't think the news is true judging from Tinubu we know...

off topic
The option of an Igbo Senate leader is foreclosed....

There is a limit to which you play bad and self destructive politics with your best men....like it was done to Ngige in Anambra.

So as an APC minority he was allowed to remain Speaker in a PDP majority house? True or false?

At a time when the majority was not stable - flip-flopping between PDP and APC.

If Ngige won the people support he would have won. Even as I disagree with the insinuation that he was the 'best man', best men do always win election, otherwise the unlettered bigot Buhari wouldn't have been president in a country of highly educated and intelligent people. So please forget that best man tales! Beside best men don't make deals in Okija Shrine!

Wondering how they will look Rochas and Ameachi in the face, and tell them that winner takes all. cheesy grin

Do you think Rochas and Amaechi will give a damn about the igbos considering the kind of opposition they got from there? No way. In Nigeria, it is the winner takes all when it comes to president-vice-senate p- speaker.

Since igbos rejected APC, then they are on their own. We now know we can win elections without them. Bunch of opportunists.

When I say 'best man'....it was meant to be subjective.

In parliamentary business in Nigeria today.....Ngige rank high...far more above anyone from Anamabra and definitely above a first timer Senator Uche Okwunife that will be taken his place.

I see no reason why they dropped Ngige if not for the politics of hatred for APC....and not necessarily for Ngige as a man...he could have even been returned if he was contesting on just any other political party and not APC.

Ok, in other words, Ngige is not a good politician. He was unable to read the pulse of his people and was swept away. Such naive man is not fit to lead the Anambra people. End of story!

I don't know if a parliamentary rule that first-time Senator cannot be Senate President. If it is, am afraid such useless rule should be changed, as I see now merit to it if the first time senator is of exceptional quality!

I hope this is an opinion of a minority in Igboland.

If you keep playing this bad and hate filled politics of throwing your brightest politicians under the bus simply because they are in a 'wrong party' in your opinion........you will keep holding the short end of the stick in Nigeria politics.

First of all, how do you want the dissident APC candidate to react knowing that the person that defeated him went ahead to be senate president?

Secondly, among all the Igbo senators, list someone that has the credentials to hold that position.
