Jst last month a frnd of mine went to his fiancee's hometown in anambra state for introduction, nd after the introduction, he was given a list of items to buy in accordance wit dia tradition.... Buying those items cost more than 350,000.......

Lst 2 week he went again to gve dem d items, so as to hasten the wedding plans, to cut it short, der told him dat the bride price was 1.2million bt der decided to reduce it to 1 million because of d present condition of d country..... He told dem he cant pay such amount, nd der said der will not gve him dia daughter, dat if he dnt hav money he should go nd marry frm oda tribes.....

My question nw is dat, WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THE IGBO... because dis hav happened to three of my friends nd am dating an igbo girl..... AM NID ANSWERS PLs
apart from character and good genes and tendency to remain faithful and non owambe goers...another reason is that we are handsome and pretty then smart

that is the reason

Its very easy to hate what u cant acquire.... And in this case u termed it overbilling... My brothers and sisters, NO TOWN IN ANAMBRA collects more dan 50k as brideprice... Am sayin dis with absolute certainty cos i did a journal on culture and its effects on the modern man. I had to interview a lot of traditional rulers and other high profile traditional men. Even my sister's bride price was as little as 20k and tradition demands that u use d money and buy something she will value... Thats Anambra for u. Pls dnt believe everything u hear. One love.
THE QUESTION YOU SHOULD BE ASKING THEM IS WHY ARE THEY TROOPING TO IGBO LAND TO MARRY OUR WOMEN, DOES IT MEAN THAT THEIR YORUBA WOMEN ARE USELESS AND NON MARRIAGEABLE. WHY DONT THEY MARRY THEIR TYPE...IGBO MUST BE VERY SPECIAL. THEY WANT TO MARRY THEIR GUYS AND THEIR MEN WANT TO MARRY OUR GIRLS

THEY ARE FUNNY

NOW ANOTHER IGBO PRETTY

That's bullshit...when their daughter near menopause na them by themselves go give am for free that's if they are lucky to see a guy who go still marry her. Nonsense aspect of their tradition.

so many traditions and rituals in igboland. very expensive traditions!!!! I don't know about the bride prices, but i can tell you that the lists coming from igboland are endless, just because we live in Europe. Sometime i feel that i married to all 419 group, because till now no family member or family friend, prove that is trustworthy. the moments the money enter their hands, phone are switch off and if you finally you manage to contact them they will insult you and tell you nonsense. the last issue i had with them; they asked us to send money so they will take my m-i-l to hospital; we sent 3 times money for hospital, they took her in the last moment when the doctor couldn't help her anymore, so the poor lady died. now, as we prepare for funerals, they send us an enormous list, and we have to pay it, because we are oversee!!?!!! thanks God for an old man, some kind of uncle, that intervene and cut that list and made it reasonable.

my experience with igbopeople living in igboland, is that when they do something, has to be very big and impressive, no matter if they have or not money. and when you pay for some tradition is not only for your family, nooo, you pay for the all relatives. If you can't pay what they ask, they insult you and tell all kind of evil things about you. the igbo are business focus; their business is to see you bankrupt.

Oh boy, this is some scary shite.
The reason I like yoruba is that they emphasize EDUCATION over money. Education tends to enlighten a people and raises them from destructive thinking patterns.

Igbo people emphasize MONEY above all else. They are what someone had in mind when he wrote "The love of money is the root of all evil".
Money is not bad, it is very good sef. But when it's all a people thinks about to the point of making silly traditions and laws aimed at being absolute parasites to honest hard working people...even to their own family members.....it's just nasty.

So now they don't care what your wife and children will eat after their list, they just want you to BRING AM COME.
Is that not sheer wickedness? Nothing like "bring what you can" and lets see what we can do for mama.

A truly wretched people.
Unless God himself leads me down that path, I will never use my own leg to go to an igbo village on top wife matter.
Especially if the woman is now the type that say crap like:

pinkycute:
...Tradition Is Tradition, and nobody is above that...
I don't need such degenerate thinking around my life.

Industrious

Loving
Caring etc.
See reasoning..so a guy can't find all these qualities in other tribe abi or u mean to tell its all Igbo ladies that have these Huh ...madam a lady from any tribe, race region, can possess these qualities ..me think it's as a result of greed for material things and money from the early elders in that region/tribe that churn out such demand.
