I never understood what people meant whenever they said GEJ never loses a battle until I saw the outcome of the elections. The 2015 presidential election wasn't just a battle between GEJ and GMB, it was also a battle between GEJ and OBJ.
Everyone who knows Nigeria well, knows that OBJ spent his time in office, trying to create a name for himself in Africa. Eventually, he left office and became one of Africa's most respected former leaders. GEJ however had more issues on his neck while he was Nigeria's president, and I'm sure he almost had no time to think of Africa. But after losing the elections, GEJ performed an act that made him leap frog OBJ to being one of Africa's greatest. His singular act of congratulating the winner, made the whole world and all of Africa respect him. In some quarters he's been described as the father of modern democracy in Nigeria.

Even the APC which I never thought would ever use the name Jonathan and commend in the same sentence has this to say through Alhaji Lai Mohammed by that
singular act, which went a long way in dousing post-election tension, the President had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
It also noted that Jonathan had written his name in gold in the annals of Nigeria’s history and catapulted himself to a statesman.

Also, Mo Ibrahim a man who has never said anything about OBJ had this to say about GEJ; Thank you Mr President. If you are seeking a legacy, you have definitely achieved
it.”
If GEJ eventually wins the Mo Ibrahim award for 2015, then he'd definitely be smiling all over Africa, far more than OBJ is smiling. When the UN, AU, Commonwealth, etc looks for an African democrat to use an example, they'd definitely use GEJ, while OBJ falls into the category of so many former presidents.

Lastly, as my warri friend said "who God don bless, God don bless, Jona no dey ever lose. Him lose Aso Rock, but him win Africa".
Lovely!!

I like people like you that have working memories and who never allowed sentiment to destroy their human senses and
replace it wish shit. Many people don't see anything good in GEJ even when he did something no body has done in this
country. Gej has all it takes to truncate this election and GMB and his army of killers can only kill and maim poor innocent ones as usual. Gej sacrificed his personal interests for national interests and some nincompoops are talking poo. Who was it that tamed Gej?. I am sure majority of Nigerians are ignorant of the power the president of Nigeria wields.
Thank you Gej for saving the lives of innocent Nigerians from the murderers.

That he called GMB does not earned him any respect. The fact is that the other world leader were just trying to console him instead of saying something negative to him that can make him more sad. Had it been he did not contest it would have earned respect. He ringed to win the election but outcome not favor , he bribed yet he failed,he postpone election nothing good come after it. What left for him is to just console himself. If you fight to the extent that your strength failed you what left is to surrender with style if you are a current champion.

To really put a value as to the almost superhuman mental strenght of GEJ given what he did..one especially those who are ignorant of African current affairs has to look at Central african Republic,South Sudan,Yemen even the close call into civil war by Ivory Coast....All these nations could have avoided bloodshed, sufferings and widespread chaos if one leader or major stakeholder had conceeded defeat. The Janjaweedes will try to play it down some even go as far as rubbishing this his person-unfortunately for them it has gone beyond them and even Buhari-, ofcourse because it will take the shine off Buhari and put him under greater scrutiny by the electorate,as you have noticed they've gone to town denying claims or promises Buhari made to the people.

What do you want Jona to do when we had representatives of the ICC on ground in Nigeria observing things? Incite violence? C'mon!
He would have sealed his own fate in the Hague if he tries anything that could lead to lose of life. He had no choice!

Remember, he has to go to jail first before you can compare him to Baba Iyabo? I'm confident GMB will make that happen with the way he mismanaged our resources. If he comes outta jail with reputation anywhere near that of Obj's, then and only then I'll agree with you.

Losing hundreds of school girls in your care in a stafe directly under your control and refusing to to utter a word while Nigerians cry and beg was unpatriotic.

Going dancing in Kano less than 24 hours after terrorists slaughtered Nigerians was criminal and unpatriotic?

Losing sovereign Nigerian territory to rag tag terrorists while blaming and pointing fingers was cowardly, irresponsible and unpatriotic.

Giving out national awards and promotions to corrupt and incompetent public officials including school children and territory losing military service chiefs was unpatriotic.

Scamming money and killing your own unemployed young job seekers and not demanding accountability was criminal, irresponsible and unpatriotic.

Celebratinv worthless even with nollywood while terrorists slaughtered 40 secondary school boys was reckless, irresponsible and unpatriotic.

Running around the SW bribing and corrupting Nigerians just to subvert the democratic process was grossly irresponsible and unpatriotic.

The man stayed in office and wasn't impeached or sent to jail simply because of lawless and corrupt Nigeria, this definitely wont happen in sane and lawful countries.

You shouldnt be talking about patriotism because you o obviously don't know the meaning of that word.

Well, looking at you list, I just smiled cos you still don't understand. While I am not going to argue about all you listed, I humbly accept Mr. Buhari. What will be wrong is if he can't deliver on some of your list above.
The Chiboks girls that were missing and rather than helping, criticized and humiliated the president. Obviously, he now has the mandate to bring those girls back else, I will have to view him as an hypocrite.

On the issue of corruption, I have always mentioned that the Presidency is not a one man show. I am waiting patiently for the list of people he will be working it and I hope they will straight from heaven.

On insurgency, I like the fact that he is willing to counter them and chase them from Nigeria for good. Boko Haram, Nigeria's latest threat will be facing tough times ahead. Am looking forward to seeing buhari in action on that. His response time and other timeline, I will closely monitor.

On employment, I laugh when I hear 3million jobs will be created. I guess, that will be creating KAI and LASTMA at federal levels cos am wondering how that will be achieved. One thing is sure, those jobs will not be white collar jobs. The jobs people are yearning for is that where they can earn 150k monthly to start with, as per them be graduates now. Long and short of it is that at the end of the day, you still hear now employment.

As for power, hehehe, let's see what it will look like just six months into his tenure.

No doubt, I know he will try but that what he will offer will be much different from past administration would be something to behold.
We should be careful when we are trying to achieve our goals. APC has managed to paint the PDP and Mr. President evil, so bad that they successful convinced the people against the efforts of Mr. President. Now, they are in power, I look forward with excitement what their would look like and like Charles of Arise News said this morning of the Arise Networks rightly confirmed, Nigerians are very impatient people, I can bet the song will change before year end.

Gej did well to concede defeat to Buhari. And by going further to advise his party not to contest the election is also commendable. However, lets not lower standard because Gej did what was honourable within the available options. We don't expect someone in Gej's position to act like Orubebe. When I look into the history of elections in Africa I found about 4 past African leaders that conceded power to opposition and decided to take the honourable path.
So Gej did exactly what you'll expect an honourable person that knows he had lost an election will do. chikena!

Please nobody should ever mention Jonathan and Obasanjo in same sentence, they are miles apart!!!

Obasanjo oversaw 2 elections and none of them was free and fair, Jonathan did. Obasanjo had 8 peaceful years of leadership he did NOTHING for Nigeria, Jonathan in 5 years did much more despite the demons from the North tormenting him. Jonathan laid the bedrock of democracy for Nigeria and Africa. It's not easy for a sitting president to sign the FOI bill when you know it would be used to witch hunt you, Jonathan did!

Under Obasanjo's tenure, Bola Ige, Harry Marshall, and a whole lot of political assassinations occurred even when the political climate was not tense, Jonathan's tenure despite the tensed political atmosphere never recorded a single assassination and nobody was or went on exile.

Obasanjo was so deluded he claimed Jonathan was training snipers with people on watch-list, how mad can a man get?? That midget El-Rufai was on exile during Yar'Adua's tenure and could only come back to Nigeria to flex his mouth because Jonathan allowed it.

Jonathan's defeat was just a powerful merger of the Northerners and SOME of their South-Western allies. If Jonathan was to be a Yoruba or an Hausa man, he would have been the BEST president by miles Nigeria ever had. But unfortunately he is a minority and not in control of the mass and social media, that's his bane.

All they had to do was give a dog a bad name in order to hang it, and they did it. Suddenly Jonathan became the most corrupt man ever in Nigeria. They conveniently forgot Abacha's loot which decades later is still being discovered and recovered. They also forgot Obasanjo's romance with the Halliburton scandal and Siemens's scandal and the shameless "Ghana must go" saga when Obasanjo tried to buy a third term in office. They forgot Obasanjo and Atiku never built any university for Nigeria but established their own private universities.

But like someone said, Jonathan lost Nigeria and won Africa and the World. Even in defeat Obasanjo has been trounced thoroughly by the man from the creeks. Watch how Jonathan becomes an Africa statesman after his handover and how world leaders use him as a reference point on the growth of democracy in Nigeria cum Africa. Being clueless seems to be a blessing after all.

Unlike Obasanjo who gatecrashes into Africa countries to give his unsolicited advise. Useless old man without a family and without dignity.

am crying reading this..

I cannot agree less
We all know OBJ and his desire for African statesmanship. He jumps onto any bandwagon that portrays him as a statesman in Africa.
He fought Jonathan tooth and nail for obvious reasons to the extent of anticipating the now infamous "Gbagbo treatment" on him
But Jonathan certainly has the last laugh. If he wins the Mo Ibrahim award for leadership in Africa, OBJ might commit suicide.
I have not researched the modality for this award but i am very sure that both Buhari and OBJ will scuttle the opportunity for Jonathan if they have any role to play in that award.
Every word that came out of the mouth of OBJ regarding Jonathan was laden with so much hatred that you almost think they had pre existing issues to settle. I guess we all have to wait and see.
