Finally, the presidential election has come and gone with some people in celebration mood while some others went home sulking and licking their wounds.

The people who may likely be saddened with the development are certainly Nollywood actors because most of them massively supported President Goodluck Jonathan in his second term bid.

At every opportunity they got, be it on social media or even on TV adverts, the actors didn’t fail to sing the praises of the president who, according to them, had imparted on their industry.

And since the last election didn’t favour their desired candidate, Saturday Beats asked some of them if they regretted the choice they made and most of them claimed they didn’t.

Actress Omoni Oboli, who may be regarded as a personal friend of the President as she showed her movie, Being Mrs. Elliot, in Aso Rock, said she has no single regret for voting Jonathan.

“I can never regret anything I do. I stood for what I believe in, not because of financial gain. At the end of the day, the victory goes to Nigeria. This election showed true democracy and I am proud of the man that I supported. He is a hero. He conceded graciously and that is the trait of a true leader. This is democracy and nobody should work against me because I supported Jonathan.”

Ace movie director, Lancelot Imasuen, who before now had not hidden the fact that Jonathan was his favoured candidate, said he would rather keep his opinion about the election to himself.

“It is just that I want to use the opportunity to celebrate President Goodluck Jonathan for his uprightness. If a man that has been tagged as weak and clueless demonstrated something we thought was almost impossible in Nigeria, I eternally want to celebrate him. I will never regret campaigning for Jonathan and if this election is done again, I will still campaign for him. Why would I regret supporting him? I was not coerced or bribed into it. I was not given money, I was convinced and I still stand by my conviction. If that would make me face the international court, I am ready to face it. While supporting Jonathan, I did not kill anybody; I was only using the word of mouth to convince people.”

Former Actors’ Guild of Nigeria president, Segun Arinze is another person who has dined and wined with the President on so many occasions. Of course, he is an ardent Jonathan supporter.

He said, “I stood for what I believed in and if I had the opportunity, I would do it all over again. I do not ever regret campaigning for Jonathan. If I believed in Buhari, I would have done the same thing. I wish him all the best and hope he would take the country to a better place. It is no longer about Buhari or Goodluck but about Nigeria. I am not a card carrying member of PDP; I supported the President because I believed he has done well for my industry and Nigeria as a whole. I am a Nigerian and I have every right to the freedom of expression. Being silent would be foolhardy on my part. In 2011, I was campaigning for Fashola, why was I not silent at that time? We are all Nigerians and I don’t think Buhari would victimise me because I supported Jonathan.”

Fidelis Duker, veteran filmmaker, is an avid supporter of Jonathan to the extent that he would even go to Otuoke, Bayelsa Sate for his welcome home party.

“I can never regret supporting President Goodluck Jonathan. When he is having a welcome party at Otuoke, I will be there with him. He has done very well and I am still very proud of him. It has never happened in the history of Nigeria where an incumbent will lose and he will walk away.”

The North are unrepentant on their decisions. When everybody felt there's a possibility of GEJ doing well in 2011, did they vote for him? Why should they now?

Their support is not needed, your movies are an embarrassment to Nigeria and the quality of the moral life you live is shameful and utterly disgraceful.

Go and die!!!

Buhari we know and it feels good to be ruled by Buhari. Are you eediots not ashamed of yourself; you have not mentored or supported anyone in your family and you are supporting Jonathan. Stewpid elements grin

Even if you like demolish all the houses in the North and ask Julius Berger to construct new ones for them, an average Hausa man will still do what their Emir or Imam instructs them to do.. They want to return power to the north by all means and I won't be surprise if one should tell me that Adamu Ma'zu of PDP voted for APC in Bauchi in the just concluded presidential election

mtcheeew shoro niyen?? bunch of hungry people... imagine patience ozokwo crying and rolling on the floor during the bring back our girls campaign, when money got involved she took to the center stage dancing like someone under spell

How to be a SUPER HERO in Africa

1) Become a President

2) Loot your country.

3) Celebrate criminals and put them in Charge

4) Set up an Election-Rigging Squad

5) Equip Militants across all ethnicities

6) Seek Re-election

7) Seek the disqualification of your opponents

cool Spend Billions to tarnish your opponents' image

9) Manipulate Election Results from your strongholds

10) Hire an Orubebe to threaten the Umpire and incite National Violence

11) Lose the election and be very sure that you can't do anything to disrupt the process anymore.

12) Give up, concede victory, accept defeat and congratulate your opponent before election results are announced.

Even if you still can't find the lost children kidnapped under your watch, all your sins would be forgiven; You are a SUPER HERO.

According to daily trust

Within 48hrs of the announcement of Buhari's victory as Nigeria's president-elect,the Nigerian stock market recorded a gain of N1.4tr. the biggest gain in 50 yrs, according to Daily Trust. The naira made a gain of N30 against the dollar, selling for N195 in Kano this evening.Numerous filling stations that we're padlocked under the pretext of fuel scarcity, suddenly opened their gates for business. The price of rice has crashed,as hoarded bags are flooding the market from locked up stores. Now who says our problem is not that of leadership? Iam only imagining the volume of foreign direct investment that would flow into the country,if we can double our efforts come upper Saturday, and chase out all PDP governors from the government houses in Nigeria with our weapons of mass destruction-The PVC.

Why should they regret? Last time I checked Nigeria is a free country that allows freedom of association. They had no choice, how much money do people think these actors and actresses make?

Pirates made it difficult for them to earn a decent living as befit their status as "stars" as its obtainable in other climes, its only those who have major endorsement deals or are involved in shady and unsavoury activities that are able to keep their heads above waters. I don't blame them at all.

They wouldn't have had to dance to the tune of the piper if the govt had helped them protect their means of livelihood and not give them handouts in form of the so called #3b or so nollywood intervention fund. Why do you think ibinabo f and emeka ike were at each other's throats?

Now the incoming govt will ensure their businesses are protected and all that they work for, they will control and enjoy so in the nearest future we won't see them dancing on political jamborees and when they support/endorse a candidate it will be for altruistic reasons and not hunger.

Did omoni oboli really say 'I can never regret anything I do' Heck, who doesn't regret one thing or the other one has done in this life? Is she superwoman? I smell fear in lancelot imasuen's comment. Who said anything about ICC and arresting them? Guilty conscience!

Oh, well! No more weekly dinners for them in Aso rock.

Mtcheeew, Sycophants, part of the reason Jonathan lost. Kept deceiving him, and being a clueless one, he fell for them. Filled their bank account and expected me to vote for him cos some nollywoodians endorsed him.
While Buhari was busy connecting with the people, he was busy hosting a select few while the likes of Fayose, ffk, Abati, Okupe and even mama Peace were busy campaigning for Buhari indirectly.

Why will they regret supporting him when he made them richer.

what nonsense are you saying? How did Jonathan become President in 2011? Was it through the votes of the South south alone? of course the North voted immensely for Jonathan in 2011.Andso did the south west.

You should ask yourself what happened between now and then to cause so much disaffection for the President. The truth is simply that Jonathan squandered all the goodwill the people had in him.
