That where you got it worng..CHEMISTRY is not difficult at all..you were ask to advice, not given him more reason to accept defeat from study....

Well, i guess u ar studying a 4 year course, u can stil kum out with a gud grade, read with past questions, apart 4rm ur lecture materials, always jot down key points during lectures, abstain 4rm any form of social site like 2go, whatsap etc, avoid babes who dont impart into u, attend tutorials in d courses u ar nt sound, den make sure u get a good project topic to ave a beta grade n i believe u wil kum out smiling if u do al dis, best of luck.

I even get mocked by my friends whu don't even study as much as I do. I actually get depressed and sometime think of committing SUICIDE.
Sometimes I will leave my place of residence for the library for almost 6-8 hrs just for good grade but it will turnout the opposite.
I am in my third year and with exams fast approaching I will not like what has happened in the past happen again
Please I will like u to suggest ways IN WHICH I can read as well as retain as well as recall during exam

1. Be punctual and regular in lectures, practicals don't miss any, for some courses attendance carry marks.
2. Take notes extensively both during lectures and even practicals or even field trips.
3. Don't joke with assignments, tests, term paper, reports, field trips. Take them very serious. These small things make up your continuous assessment even to your GPA
4. Read the notes of every lecture, the day you had the lecture, no matter how small or big they are.
5. Make sure you cover everything you've been taught previously in a particular course before attending the next class.
6. Be smart, you don't have to read a whole textbook to have first class in Nigerian university just make sure you give full attention to school work and watch every lecturer know what they like and dislike, obey ALL their instructions.
7.To be frank with you, up to 95% of what would be set in exams is from your note so know your note inside-out.
8.Get closer to God, Join a fellowship on campus, you won't have time for girls, partying and all these social vices.

If you carry out No. 4,5 and 7 very well you would just be revising for exams.

guy some wicked ones manipulate people's brain in d exam hall, ur case mayb spiritual, u ave to deal wit it spiritually thru fasting n prayer b4 each exams, i mean vigorous prayer dat wil open d windows of heaven, meet ur pastor to pray along wit u.

in my first year i got an F i was disturbed so the next semester i put in more work i crammed and i got high grades but i didn't like forgetting what i crammed after exams, so i found another way that suits me, and after exams i remember what i studied, fast forward to final year im the second best student in the class.

Anyway the method is;
while studying make sure you jot down important points, jot them down over and over. it Might seem like a waste of time but when you're in the exam hall You'll see that you will remember those points. read what you jotted down over again then jot it down again, repeat this the night before the exam.

i use this method and it hasn't failed me because i always remember what I've read

If possible, get those sticky note pads and post them all over your house so as you walk pass doing your day to day business you will read what you need to know over and over again

before i comment what ur cgpa....and what couse are u study..

Start by reading each course after the lecture,, read them over and over again, and in the weekend u should go through all what u've been taught,, if u can make this a habit, u wouldn't need to do "crash reading"B4 ur exams, cos that's what most undergraduates do, they get serious only when their timetable is out!

Secondly u have to discover ur premium time and place for reading. U dnt have to go to night classes because others are going or stay in the library because other students are using it, u have to discover what works for u.

Thirdly create a timetable for ur dialy activities and adhere strictly to it.(including time for browsing) in the university every hour spent matters alot, so mind what u do with ur time!
Disassociate urself from bad friends and things that would not yield positive result.

bro. try read your notebook or maybe the topic for each day everyday. then stop reading a day to your exam. it makes u tensed,fatigue n the chances that u will forget all u read is certain because you will be reading in one night all the topics you have being taught in one semester.

i once had this your problem,but then i realised what the problem was and how to fix it.if you can answer the below questions
1)do you read or study
2)do you read/study cos its exam or do you just pick up your book and read/study
3)how often do you read?
4)in an average day,how much time do you give to your books
5)your friends,do they talk about their studies or irrelevant stuffs
6)do you read/study on your own or do you force yourself to study or are you in anyway being forced to study
7)how often do you pray
before exams,do you read/study day(s),weeks,months or even a year
answer this questions,then i will see how i can advise you

I studied chemistry too, when I was in school. I had this problem. I struggled to make it in chemistry bt I'm done now and I feel there were allot of things I did wrongly in school when made me struggle.

1. Fear
Our course chemistry is a course that allot of students ahead of u tell u allot of scare stories abt courses like thernmodynamics, kinectics and organic but one thing u should know is that we r different, one man's food is another poison. Know ur strength and ur weakness I was very good at organic bt struggle with inorganic so I made sure I read organic and spent more time on inorganic.I study pass questions from beginining of the semester and as I'm reading I answer pass question don't wait till examz b4 u try ur hands on pass questions. This increases ur confidence over time. Don't be scared allot of people hv graduated with first class in chemistry why not U.

2. Time
Chemistry is very time consuming. Make time table according to when it is suitable for u to read. Most attime u hv praticals which will take ur time don't wait until u hv a free time b4 u read, read in between time. When in practicals waiting for crystals to form read some thermodynamics to refresh ur mind. Read allot over and over again to get use to topics like synthesis, reactions of carbcation and carbanions.
Cut down church activities to minmium don't be wasting time anyhow like some1 doing threate art.all work not play makes jack a dull boy bt play with sense. Attime u don't feel like reading ma guy force urself after like 5mins u will start enjoying it.

3. High credit load
Course with credit load 3 and above don't joke with them make sure u get an A at most B.

4. Don't play with ur project.
Ur project is ur booster and ur light on the other end.

5. Don't see it like u r competing with someone in ur department. U r in the university nobody dey carry last.

1. DO YOU ACTUALLY LIKE THE COURSE IN QUESTION.
2. DO YOU HAVE THE INNATE ABILITY TO TACKLE THE CHALLENGES THAT COME WITH IT. FOR INSTANCE, I AM AN ENGINEERING UNDERGRDUATE IN MY FINAL YEAR, I WENT FOR IT BECAUSE I LOVE CALCULATIONS ALOT AND CAN CRAM FORMULARS FOR AFRICA. HOWEVER I'M NOT THAT GOOD WITH THE THEORITICAL ASPECTS AND SO I HAVE TO LINK THEM ALL UP BY USING ACRONYMS (IF NOT, I FORGET IT TOTALLY IN EXAMS)

3. YOU HAVE TO DISCOVER YOURSELF AND FIND OUT WHAT WORKS FOR YOU. IT DOESN'T MATTER THE LENGTH OF HOURS YOU STUDY, WHAT MATTERS IS THE AMOUNT OF INFORMATION THAT YOU ASSIMILLATE AT EVERY GIVEN TIME YOU OPEN YOUR BOOK.
4. READ WITH DIRECTION.
5. WHERE DO YOU LIVE, IS IT CONDUCIVE FOR YOU? MY RESULTS FOR MY 1ST AND SECOND YEAR WERE NOT THAT GOOD. ALTHOUGH I MADE OVER 3.0CGPA IN THOSE LEVELS, I DECIDED TO MOVE OFF-CAMP WITH A FRIEND IN MY 3RD YEAR SECOND SEMESTER AND I GOT A 4.0G.P. I EXTENDED MY STAY THERE TO MY 4TH YEAR AND ALMOST GOT A 5.0, IF NOT FOR 1 C THAT THREW THE SPANNER INTO MY WORKS (THAT PROF EH). THE REST IS HISTORY. YOU GET THE POINT.
6. ABOVE ALL, STILL PRAY, YOU NEED IT.
7. STUDY WITH THE MINDSET THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DEPEND ON ANY ONE OR CARRY ANY 'EXPO' INTO THE HALL. THE HUMAN BRAIN WORKS IN A FUNNY WAY.
8. WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW IN THE EXAM AND GET OUT. MY FIRST 3 YEARS TAUGHT ME THIS LESSON. AVOID SITTING AROUND PEOPLE WHO WILL DISTRACT YOU IN THE EXAM HALL. THEY COULD THWART YOUR A TO B AND B TO C GRADE.
9. WRITE PROFESSIONALLY. I WAS TAUGHT TO WRITE THIS WAY BY AN ELDER IN THE DEPARTMENT. I MEAN, IF YOU KNOW THE NUMBER 1 QUESTION, THEN START FROM IT AND ANSWER STRAIGHT DOWN. NOT STARTING WITH NUMBER 6, THEN 3 AND JUMP TO NUMBER 1. BY DOING THIS, YOU CREATE THE IMPRESSION THAT YOU ARE CHEATING OR DO NOT KNOW THE COURSE SO WELL.
10. I FORGOT TO ADD THIS: DO NOT PILE UP YOUR WORK ONLY TO START STUDYING DURING EXAM PERIOD. IT IS ALL ABOUT REPETITION. EVER WONDERED WHY YOU CAN SING 'SKELEWU' FROM START TO FINISH? IT'S BECAUSE YOU SING IT EVERYDAY. JUST TRY TO GO THROUGH YOUR TEXTS REGULARLY AND CREATE AN EFFECTIVE TIMETABLE.
SUCCESS *CREEPS BACK TO HIS PROJECT WORK*

Form study group with people who read and don't forget. When u r together let them ask u questions and see if u can remember. If it does not work then its Psychological problem and u use positivity to heal urself

Do not read under the mindset that you will forget, it will make you tensed while reading. After each lecture, sit down and discuss the lecture with your course mates. Jolt while reading and solve past questions

You probably only start to read for exams a few weeks to it , your best bet would be to start preparing ( reading ) for exams from the start of the semester

Read as if you didn't pray and pray as if you didn't read. Its a two way thing. I grauated with a FCGPA of 4.32,12 points less 1st class and I will give you some tips.

1. Have a vision of your desired result and CGPA from the beginning of the semester.

2. Discover when best to read that will enhance ur assimilation. For me,I am norctunal. I am more functional at night. And so most of my readings are done at night.

3. Teach others what you've learnt. I do organize tutorials for my mates when in school and I notice that the more I teach,the more I understand.

4. Serve God. Either you are a christian or muslim,try and serve God in whatever capacity you can.

5. Have a strong confidence that you can not fail. When I was in school,it was so real for me that I don't check my results,its my class mates that will check and tell me. I always say "I cannot fail,Its can't be possible"

I wish you the very best in your forthcoming exams in Jesus name. And it will be your best results so far?

@ OP is was the course what you originally applied for, or you just did it for the sake of you not staying too long back home. Do you have the zeal and the passion for this course. Answer these questions and you'll get a solution to your problem, if not you may need to get an external hard drive for your brain, and if that doesn't work after 3 semesters, please see your doctor. Op, you should by now have understood you ability... You are slow when assimilating... One way to overcome this is to read before exam comes. Start ur reading like 6weeks before exam date and when exam comes, it will be easier for u to pass

i take a break, sleep and the minute i wake up i read, or if its the particular course that is tricky i just go online get pdf's on that particular topic or go on youtube and watch relevant videos on that topic believe me the internet is the best thing to happen to us as students.

Their is a saying ''nothing is interesting when you are not interested'' did you choose the course yourself or it was given to you? Are you passonate about d course or you are just moving along? You need to be sincere on these. If you always read and forget, do you here and forget? Record some important and tricky 3unit course lecture and listing to dem ove and over again. I dnt do this though but I beliv it will help u...And in xam hall, relax for at least 15mins before starting to gather urself together and focus and try to get used to past questions just to build ur confidence and ur returns...It is very importantly understand what ur lecturer want from u as a student in terms of exams or CA and most importantly, see ur pastor.

2) u spend too much time on nairaland n social media generally ok? Read psalm 1-117 every night
3) 8hrs is nt enuf 4 u 2 assimilate ok? Increase it to 13hrs
Lastly, learn to ask questions in d exam hall
