I do alot of chem myself and although ppl hate chem, I do best at it. I have neva made anytin less dan a B in my chem. This is how I study..
1. Chem has to do wit ur understanding. U cant cram it so u will try hard to understand each topic by coming early for classes (neva miss any), sitting in front, listening and taking notes (dont wait to photocopy ppls note), studying ur notes after classes and doing assignments, try resolving all u did in class to see if u undastood dem.
2. Is ok if u dont understand but wen dis happens pick ur textbook and go tru dat topic and see if u understand it any beta. If still bad den go to all those chem gurus in ur class and ask dem nicely (start making frnds with dem). U can still meet final yr stu or meet d lecturer (I have never done dis).
3. Pray b4 and after reading. Talk to ur pastor abt dis coz it might b spiritual but dont accept failure even if its spiritual and beyond ur control. Develop a beta r/shp wit God.
4. How, where and when do u read. Try and find a quite place to read. As for ur time, u need to find d tym of d day u assimilate more for most ppl its early in d morning so u can wake up by 3am and read till d time u have to liv (cultivate it and it becomes a part of u) note dat u must sleep very early to achieve this.
5. When reading dont cram try to visualize and imagine wat u are reading. Jot and go tru it ova and ova.
6. B4 exams, have ur note at ur fingertip. Concentrate more on topics u understand well and have good mastery of atleast 7 out of 10 topics in ur cos outline.
7. Solve past que to knw how ques are been asked ( dont dwell too much on dis just see how ques come).
8. Finally durin exams, try to undastand each que b4 answering and ans d way u think d lecturer himself wud hav ansd it (u must study ur lectrs and know wat dey like dis is y u need to attend all classes)
p.s- u mustn't do all CA and assignment by urself if dont understand it. Copy from chem gurus but tell dem to teach u how dey did it. God's grace.

2.Get your class notes, the one the lecturer gives, there're some students (usually ladies in front seat ) collect there notes photocopy or write but make sure their writing is legible enough.
3.In a typical Nigerian university don't show your lecturers that you know more than them, read outside the scope of the note for additional knowledge but don't impress he or She by writing or using definitions and examples that are not in the note.
4.Any time you read a topic know what you're expected to know ask yourself possible questions from that topic and close the book or note you're reading then bring a fresh book start writing the things you read at first it will seem kind of hard but do it again and again.
5.Always learn to present a neat work don't cancel much or if it is possible don't cancel at all ,even if you wanna please it shouldn't be more than two times, Chemistry needs optimum attention and articulation.
6.Move or read with brilliant guys but this option is not always cool ,you might not cover enough and tomorrow is exams they'll start asking you questions and that might weaken you mostly when you're about to enter the exam hall, read read and read again.
7.Know the time you are at your peak understand yourself, some folks they don't like reading where there're many people so know the environment you assimilate the most. READ HARD KNOW THE RIGHT CHEMICAL ILLUSTRATIONS TO USE KNOW WHAT YOUR LECTURER WANTS ASK YOUR SENIORS AND IF THE LECTURER IS TAKING THE COURSE FOR THE FIRST TIME DON'T MISS CLASSES.

My advice 2 u dear is step by step. 1.read wit past question papers..after studying wit ur notes, textbooks etc..get past questions and try 2 answer d question. 2 if after trying u fail, open ur note again n try answering d question using ur note or textbook, trust me u gon get it dis time..3 go back 2 ur note, study it thoroughly..dis time ans d same question off heart 4.set questions for ur self..if after doing all dis u fail again den u are on ur own o! But pls ist remove dat fear in u cos from ur post one could notice u are afraid. U dont read 2 understand anymore cos u believe dia's no way in hell u can pass ever again.

1) Pray to God for wisdom as He is the source of knowledge.

2) Make a well balanced timetable for all your activities in school and stick to it! Don't forget to include time for recreation and socials.

3) Make friends with smarter people than you and form a study group as some people don't fair well studying individually. This will afford you the diverse opportunity of learning salient points from different perspectives.

4) Learn your lecturers line of thought by paying attention to lectures with particular reference to how they accept students' answers to impromptu questions in class. Follow these ques when answering their questions.

5) Ensure you sleep very well especially on the eve of your exams! TDB on the eve to your exam is a NO NO!

6) To improve memory retention, try recalling you salient points during your quotidian activities like showering, walking or eating etc.

7) Take it a course at a time, don't jam pack a lot of information to your brain at once. The memory locations in the human brain is infinite but its randomly accessed however it should be serially programmed for maximum performance.

Ask questions both in and out of class.

9) Learn to write legibly and neatly particularly in exam condition.

10) Finally believe in yourself.

God's grace in your academic endeavors and share the testimony on this platform too for the glory of God and to encourage others. Abstaining from a sexual relationship will also help you stay focus particularly during your exams periods.

-Always read and understand instead of cramming. -always try and be attentive during lecture and jolt. Find a suitable time u can read which can work for you - surround urself with friend who can be helpful not the unserious type -pray. Exactly, while jotting down also visualize what you're jotting down, link it to funny examples, i also think op needs to draw closer to God, and op before studying make sure you read eph 1:16-17 read it before you study for the day, before exams make god a promise and always make sure to fulfil that promise.

Bro.. It happens like dat. CHM z not beans.. I am very sure you did not choose chemistry. You cant leave out the God factor. Study and stop reading, dont try to cram your way it will barely work Chemistry is very volatile. It requires consistency. Join good group discussions, attend tutorials, don't stab lectures. Ask immediately from pple dat undastand don't pile it up.
Avoid crash reading in order not to get crashed result. Pray and maintain a consistent fellowship with God

I am a student of a state university I am in my third year now.
My first and second year grade were very low not that I don't study but I always seem to forget what I studied during exams.
When my first year result was out it was far below my expectations because I really took my time studying so as to make good grade but it was not so

first thing ask God for understanding and in faith that he has answered you please focus on understanding what ever you need to know, make sure you also understand your exam questions before answering them. in fact i feel you are destined for greater heights as many great minds started with ridiculous challenges.

just understand yourself and re scheduled your plans

At the beginning of every semester, always get past question papers for each course at least 6 sessions prior and discuss with your lecturers the format or scheme questions shpuld be answered and how they are scored. e.g introduction at the beginning, limitations and conclusion at the end.

Past questions have saved a lot of students loads of time.

Take your time study other related materials before the ones you have at your disposal.Never read for hours without break.Lastly try to see what kind of environment favours your reading.For me, I need distractions to keep me going.Library is not my place.I usually come out empty.Playing music keeps me going while studying

1.Change your mindset first;You have trained your mind to believe that when you read you won't understand.Just read and believe you will understand
2.Studies have shown that we forget almost immediately we learn so when reading,make a summary of what you have read and don't try trying to remembering what you have read while reading,i.e. crammer's rule.
3.When you read bring all you focus to what you are reading,don't get distracted. Get lost in what you are reading.
4.Reading over and over again until u remember and anytime u read re-summarize what you have read earlier,before u know it you should have summarized a whole text book in pieces of papers.
5.The best time to prepare for exam is when u are not writing exams.Start early.

And also, you need good food and sleep. Don't be in a rush to spend 6 hours straight at night in a class room under the guise that you are reading. Trust me it is counter productive. If you plan your time well, you may not even need to go to class at night. Use the nights to sleep.
