Firstly a definition is a definition,Nigeria is in a civil war FACT!so very sorry mate!!

"Nigeria's economy has been growing steady at 6-7% oil price just got it down to around 5&. The economy is greatly diversified, you much Oyibo trash."
Nigeria's expected growth was revised from 7% to 4,8% in 2015,and even that at this stage seems to be an overestimate!
And no!! Your economy is not diversified 80% of your National income is dependent on Oil!!So you better hope the oil prices start rising...and fast!!

And btw our economy grew by 4.1% in the last quarter of 2014.

"Funny when I read all your online tabloids after Nigeria was declared the biggest economy in africa. I was atually shocked that it took many South Africans by surprise, both individuals and institutions."

Jap!I was shocked,I was shocked that a country with 180 million people and huge oil reserves took so fvking long to pass a country with only 50 million people and No! oil reserves!

Technically there GDP had supased us years ago. Just took them years to figure it out.

Perhaps the trenches were a little too elevated, narrow and linear given the environment, generally,i'll admit that the trenches were a little hastily dug by less experienced personnels{perhaps CJTF men}.
As for ammo storage,i see nothing wrong with the way ammo are stored or even the mg-nest for that matter, the location of that garrison is near he frontline, therefore you cannot expect to see the level of organisation that would be normally present in a barrack or base, ammunitions are regularly evacuated as many times as they are stored.

Vice said that those men had been holding the town "since the war began" so those positions have been there for years now. They should be extremely sophisticated by now.

The MG nest being elevated makes it a nice target for recoiless grenades and easy suppression.

Ammo is a disaster waiting to happen - a stray mortar or tracer round could set it off, and a couple tonnes of explosives going off in the middle of your base during an attack is not something you want to happen. Ideally the majority would be distrubited along hard points in the trenches (so you dont have to run off to get more in battle) and the rest would be stored in a number of heavily dug in bunkers strategically located around the base.

What is peasantly about them?,surely you can see that those guys in the pictures were not in a combat atmosphere.moreover, some of the guys in the background belong to the Civilian Joint Task Force, and are simply assisting the military in keeping stock of ammunitions and other miscellanous materials.

One fire and the base goes boom. There is reason Ammo is kept in a magazine or bunker or any where but in the open and laying around a accomdastion area. Safety.

I would understand random gear by people's trommels or lockers hell on there bunks even. But stacks of ammo. What would happen if a mortar hit the area with all that ammo.

And who is to say that there arent bunkers hidden around the location?,surely you dont expect the military to air such sensitive and strategic ammo depots and defense positions on a public video,it would be like handing over the blueprint of the garrison to the enemy

Then those bunkers where not on the from line.

If you have decacted ammo storage area then use it.

The position where the ammo are stacked is quite distant from the outer perimeter of the FOB,also it is on an elevated slope and out of range of low level projectile,so it is technically impossible for stray mortar to hit the ammo storage.
Moreover, topography must be considered, storing ammo in trenches and bunkers may be dangerous as the soil component of the north eastern region is extremely sulphurus.
it would also reduce mobility of ammunitions.

You do know what a mortar is right? Because it don't care about terrain and they have a range of 2km for the small ones and above 10km for the big ones.

As i said, there is low risk of accidental detonation because the storage facility is simply too distant to the outer perimeter where their is risk of mortar or attilery being fired.
Considering that ammunitions are regularly being moved,it would make sense for ammo to be stacked outside, especially if those ammunitions were recently delivered or are in transit to another frontline base.

You do know how big konduga FOB is right?,the chance of launching a mortar into the ammo storage is extremely low, even if it is a range of 10km{which is a scarce commodity for boko haram},moreover, terrain matters a lot, konduga FOB is on an elevated plain,as you can see in the video.

Did you watch the video with your ears closed?

The positions were attacked several times.

A surprise mortar attack, in less than 5 minutes insurgents can throw more than 4 bombs to a position and run.

They've been for a while.

lol, boko haram "crawl" and get really close to the trenches to launch attacks?,surely you were either sleeping or drunk while watching the video.
Do you think that battles are usually fought in front of the storage centre?.lol,BH incursions are usually intercepted 8-15km away from the town itself and then consequently repelled! PS: The FOB has been attacked 13 times, not 8 times.

I understand that your perceived knowledge of the military is drawn primarily from the parade ground and from exhibitions, but........... You are as ignorant as they come. You have no idea how actual fighting is done.

Let me assist you, go to youtube, watch/download the following.

if indeed this is what an average Nigerian thinks, all I can say is your population is still suffering from Ebola trauma ,if I were you I would be ashamed to mention HIV-aids related matters because your country has the highest figures when it comes to death caused by HIV...to me your country looks like a jungle, one thing that you should appreciate is we are hosting thousands and thousands of your brothers and sisters who are just wandering in our streets...many of them are street vendors ,barbers and shoe repairers...according to them street life in SA is much better unlike living like animals in their own country where people drink water from the same pool with pigs and goats...i can't believe a Nigerian is trying to lecture a south African about infrastructure....SA is not in your league..never will..you will only wish and dream...if you were hard working and creative people as you claim, some of the foreign companies that are milking your pockets dry were not supposed to be there in the first place, your country imports even mere tap water, it shows how pathetic your country is..the British built that zoo for you... Plus foreigners are the ones doing every infrastructural development in Nigeria but you are here showing fake muscles...anyway let me leave you in those dreams.. Indeed shoprite bread is enhancing your futile enthusiasm

look at these peasants

First of,

This video completely lays to waste the spurious allegations/ and multiple lies been peddled by Aljazeera, CNN, BBC et al, of Nigerian troops been under-equipped / under-resourced .

If the SANDF was a proper military that can afford aviation fuel/ tents, make sound strategic or tactical decisions or even shoot properly, then we would have been able to talk.

The trenches are primarily a defensive position to provide troops defending the FOB with cover. There is also no proof that these are the forward trenches. I mean, it's right in-front of the commanders office.

Above all, with 1300 enemy forces killed in Konduga FOB in a 3 consecutive attacks november of 2014, and 13 attacks in total, their tactics have proven to be flawless and impeccable.

Ammo, Ammo isn't stored outside. It's common sense actually, they are most likely recently delivered rounds, which would in-turn be sent inside for storage.

Seeing that the documentary was made at the heat of the offensive, those Ammo are meant for re-supply to friendly forces during operations.

The FOB is an abandoned secondary school in the middle of nowhere. Most schools in Africa don't come with bunkers like you have in israel.

Troops in their FOB can dress how they like. I've seen british forces engage the enemy in only underpants. Only Private friday has has a desert camo T-shirt, the others are all in woodland camo.

He has his AK-74M by his side at all times, same as his colleagues.

Perfect video, there is always room for improvements

Actual troops who have a combined battlefield experience of more than 10,000 years, relaxing in their FOB.

The SANDF is an inept, grossly inefficient, and truly incompetent parade ground force. The Nigerian military is a proper fighting group.

You can't compare the two. We can do photographs, but what is truly important for us is letting the enemy feel the pain.

Seleka rebels took your special forces to the cleaners, you should truly be scared of the damage we could bring on your poorly trained troops.

They have ruthlessly messed up the enemy in konduga FOB. It means clearly that their tactics are flawless. no baseline change is required, only improvements done. They have dealt with the enemy on 13 different occasions.

The MG nest is protected with Sandbags.

They have, Igirigi, CS/VP3 MRAPs, IFV's, T-72's and T-55's tanks. They got bofors, D-30's, 105's. They got drones, attack Helicopers and Surveillance assets to call in. Of course, loads and loads of Ammo.

The Ammo isn't a disaster waiting to happen, it is well protected. After 13 different attacks, the enemy attacking with AA mounted on gun-trucks, RPG's, MG's and tanks.

Konduga FOB has proven to be one of the worlds most well defended FOB, and an ideal research topic.
