I know igbos will say as far as Lagos is part of Nigeria and they are Nigerians they have the right to live anywhere in any part of this country. Yes you are right but until your kins men in Alaigbo begin to accommodating non-igbos by selling lands to them, we will not allow you use our own land for "One Nigeria experiment" and still make offensive utterances @ us.
These are not your thoughts. You were told or made to believe these things about the Igbo that are not true. Have you tried to peacefully in Igbo land? I know particular places (towns) that are known for their hospitality, especially of strangers.
One Nigeria is not difficult. It just takes forgetting some things our parents told us, making our own observations and arriving at our own conclusions.
Do you know that the Yoruba language is even very similar to Igbo? Your leaders wouldn't amplify our numerous similarities, only our differences. Why do you think so? Open your eyes, ears and mind. It's a truly beautiful world.

The Igbo in Lagos have appealed to Lagos State government and the state Commissioner of Police,

Mr Kayode Aderanti, to put security measures in place to ensure the protection of their lives and property after the general elections.

The appeal came just as they demanded an apology from Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos over his comment that the Igbo would perish in the Lagos lagoon, in seven days, if they did not vote for his choice governorship candidate in yesterday’s elections.

The Chairman, Ohaneze Ndigbo in Amuwo Odofin local government area, Chief Akalika Emmanuel, explained that the call for the protection of life and property became necessary to avoid unforeseen circumstances.

Acknowledging the intervention of the president elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, and opinion leaders from Igbo and Yoruba land, Emmanuel stated that the Igbo had sheathed their sword in demonstration of their love for Lagos State, as well as their maturity and willingness to be each other brothers’ keepers.

Nevertheless, he demanded that a documentary prove that such threat from Akiolu would not repeat itself be made available, adding that the property of Ndi -Igbo would not be unduly taxed nor demolished, no matter the direction of the victory of yesterday’s governorship election.

Continuing he said: “We also demand that our business premises and other matters of interest will not come under any form of intimidation now or in future”.
This is not the first time or second time but numerous times that Ibo leaders under the apex socio cultural group Ohanaeze has insulted and denigrated our cherished institutions. Insulting an Oba tops it! After our Oba the next authority is our Orishas. We will not wait for you to insult them. We thetefore are putting restrictions on you to blockade your pride in Yorubaland. We have heard you, going forward you will feel us.

Good point. But you see, even after the Oba's inciteful statement, they never announced support of bloc votes for JK.
It was just the general assumption that they would react in that manner. But the Igbo leadership (no matter their personal reservations) at least never told the people who to vote for. If you find that they did, tell me and I'll withdraw this statement.
OK, take these:

1. Igbo traditional rulers in Lagos endorse Agbaje http://jimiagbaje.com/igbo-traditional-rulers-endorse-agbaje/

2. Agbaje bags Igbo title in Lagos to boost chances http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/03/06/agbaje-bags-igbo-title-ezi-nwanne-ndigbo-1/

3. Agbaje tells Ndigbo to push APC into Atlantic Ocean http://dailypost.ng/2015/04/10/akiolu-agbaje-tells-ndigbo-to-push-apc-into-atlantic-ocean/

It is not a hidden fact that Ndigbo as a group threw their weight behind Agbaje and the counter effect was that many Yorubas saw it as an affront for him to think that the Igbos will determine who wins the election as he said on many occasions too.

Ndigbo could have simply advised their own to vote according to their wish.

My take on this is that yoruba land being known for her hospitality and peaceful co-existent can assure the igbos of the safety of lives, business and properties but they should also prepare to respect us in our own land and stop acting as though they are co-owner of the land with us, they should stop treating us with hate and disdain. If they know they cannot comply with these they should go back to their land.

You are wrong based on the context you throw your point.

First only Lagos Island used to be federal capital, not the mainland. The movement of the capital to abuja automatically reverse lagos island back to its former status just like in the case of calabar and lokoja.

Let them move the capital to onitsha today, will you people allow other tribes to do half of what you are doing now or you will go and drag Abuja with the true native...?
What exactly are you allowing us to do in our country.

Your Oba made a genocidal speech and deserves all that is coming to him.

We do no want a genocide in Nigeria induced by an Oba that cannot bridle his tongue.

That is why the Oba's comment is particularly dangerous.

that is a big lie,the difference is as clear as 7up vs coca cola,

A Niger deltan will always do everything necessary to make sure u are aware that he is not Igbo, they are mostly humble and easy going,an Igbo man is much more noticed and business minded.

But this man calling himself the head of Ohaneze in Amino odofin, this are the people fueling this issue, the palace of the Oba has spoken that the statement was misconstrued and you are still demanding for a documentary, we didn't destroy your property during the war,is it because of Elections we would now destroy it?never has Igbos being attacked in lagos so why now?

Asking or demanding for apologies from the Oba which is a taboo in yoruba land, will never work because rather for the Oba to apologise they will rather commit suicide.

But if you think you don't like peace then start it and let's see who is afraid or not. Seems like tribalism has blinded you such that your sense of reasoning has evaporated with bigotry.

Are you not afraid, let them start it and see who will run back home.Meanwhile, no one will start anything, let Fashola just lock up Alaba and the likes and see who will cry.Mind you we only let you know that lagos is own by Yoruba and not no man's land as you do say.Ode.

Over the years especially after the civil war in 1970, there has been this notion that Igbos hate Yorubas for their perceived role in their defeat during the infamous Biafran war.

The igbo people are democratic, acephalous and highly liberal. They do not really respect elders or anybody who does not contribute to their success. They believe that what is theirs is theirs nd what is ours is ours.
Also, Igbo people are brash, sometmes proud, selfish and self-seeking. They like beating their chest to announce their achievements.

Igbos are commercial minded and usually flock to any place where business can thrive no matter the risks involved. The truth remains that Lagos as a commercial centre is home to lots of Igbo people. Many Igbo people in Lagos are law-abiding, pay their tax and mind their business. Igbo people are not so political and have continued to be relegated to the background in recent times cos of their divisive politics.
Yoruba on the other hand are the owners of Lagos even if Igbos own all the houses in Lagos, an Igbo man can not be the Gov'nor of Lagos at least for now.

Agreed Igbos would want the oba of Lagos to apologize which is a taboo to the Yoruba tradition, the truth remains that we are still one Nigeria and so should tolerate ourselves no matter our differences. Let us forget the past and move forward. Nobody is going to the lagoon and the will of the majority has prevailed.

The beauty of democracy is that the minority will have their say and the majority will have their way. Even if you feel insulted, forgive and for he that provokes, he should have a rethink so that we can move forward devoid of primordial, ethnocentric, trivial, obnoxious, odious and obscene tendencies that tear us apart. Our diversity should be the source of our strength cos together, everybody achieves much.
Peace

I wish i didn't have to type this.. It's a show of shame here!!! Smh at e warriors but lilly livered fellows in reality! So since when did being in d opposition become wrong?? We are quick to forget that dis same being in d opposition is what has led to d democratic change we are all celebrating. It's then hypocritical to champion d opposition but then refuse others from opposing u. If u are sure of ur works and testimony, then u need not be afraid of being opposed. It only makes ur victory sweeter!! I know pdp result at d presidential elections threw Apc into panic mode and all but there was no need for d Obas threat!! And to merely castigate d igbos for reacting or offer half hearted appologies only goes to show that one Nigeria is still afar of. Btw i still don't get why an opposition candidate all of a sudden becomes a non yoruba because igbos are in support of him.. So Lagos is now a one party statehuh Even if Ambode wins, which i am sure he will, I will forever relish d narrow margin @ d presidential elections for Lagos. It shook Apc well and gave them some headaches... Till 2019 Sai Buhari.. Take Nigeria to d promised land! chikena

Hmmm. That's deep.

Just unfortunate that Agbaje is now tainted as an Igbo ethnic politician! Imagine him promising to make an Eze Igbo a First Class Chief in Lagos. Except he was deceiving the Igbo he should know that The Igbo are a fiercely Republican and autonomous people who will not accept the overlordship of a single person as Eze all over Lagos Igbo- confusion will ensue! Just wondering how much of Igbo he can speak - in case he needs to try making a run for Governorship in any of the eastern states!
Shame to the apostles of ethnic politics playing us against one another! Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa et al are Nigerians who deserve to vote and be voted for ANYWHERE in the country.
It remains to be said however that it is an unreasonable and unfair thing to do to hit your host community under the belt by playing the ethnic card in election time when you have not been discriminated against in enjoying the dividend of democracy! The obvious attempt by Igbos at doing so in this elections is unfortunate and will only serve a notice on the Yoruba to be wary of the Igbo as a people nursing an agenda to take over their host community. The Igbo must consciously set out to put the Yoruba (their hosts in Lagos) at ease by correcting that impression.
