bakynes:These are not your thoughts. You were told or made to believe these things about the Igbo that are not true. Have you tried to peacefully in Igbo land? I know particular places (towns) that are known for their hospitality, especially of strangers. One Nigeria is not difficult. It just takes forgetting some things our parents told us, making our own observations and arriving at our own conclusions. Do you know that the Yoruba language is even very similar to Igbo? Your leaders wouldn't amplify our numerous similarities, only our differences. Why do you think so? Open your eyes, ears and mind. It's a truly beautiful world. |

The Igbo in Lagos have appealed to Lagos State government and the state Commissioner of Police,This is not the first time or second time but numerous times that Ibo leaders under the apex socio cultural group Ohanaeze has insulted and denigrated our cherished institutions. Insulting an Oba tops it! After our Oba the next authority is our Orishas. We will not wait for you to insult them. We thetefore are putting restrictions on you to blockade your pride in Yorubaland. We have heard you, going forward you will feel us. |

queensenglish91:OK, take these: 1. Igbo traditional rulers in Lagos endorse Agbaje http://jimiagbaje.com/igbo-traditional-rulers-endorse-agbaje/ 2. Agbaje bags Igbo title in Lagos to boost chances http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/03/06/agbaje-bags-igbo-title-ezi-nwanne-ndigbo-1/ 3. Agbaje tells Ndigbo to push APC into Atlantic Ocean http://dailypost.ng/2015/04/10/akiolu-agbaje-tells-ndigbo-to-push-apc-into-atlantic-ocean/ It is not a hidden fact that Ndigbo as a group threw their weight behind Agbaje and the counter effect was that many Yorubas saw it as an affront for him to think that the Igbos will determine who wins the election as he said on many occasions too. Ndigbo could have simply advised their own to vote according to their wish. |

Over the years especially after the civil war in 1970, there has been this notion that Igbos hate Yorubas for their perceived role in their defeat during the infamous Biafran war. The igbo people are democratic, acephalous and highly liberal. They do not really respect elders or anybody who does not contribute to their success. They believe that what is theirs is theirs nd what is ours is ours. Also, Igbo people are brash, sometmes proud, selfish and self-seeking. They like beating their chest to announce their achievements. Igbos are commercial minded and usually flock to any place where business can thrive no matter the risks involved. The truth remains that Lagos as a commercial centre is home to lots of Igbo people. Many Igbo people in Lagos are law-abiding, pay their tax and mind their business. Igbo people are not so political and have continued to be relegated to the background in recent times cos of their divisive politics. Yoruba on the other hand are the owners of Lagos even if Igbos own all the houses in Lagos, an Igbo man can not be the Gov'nor of Lagos at least for now. Agreed Igbos would want the oba of Lagos to apologize which is a taboo to the Yoruba tradition, the truth remains that we are still one Nigeria and so should tolerate ourselves no matter our differences. Let us forget the past and move forward. Nobody is going to the lagoon and the will of the majority has prevailed. The beauty of democracy is that the minority will have their say and the majority will have their way. Even if you feel insulted, forgive and for he that provokes, he should have a rethink so that we can move forward devoid of primordial, ethnocentric, trivial, obnoxious, odious and obscene tendencies that tear us apart. Our diversity should be the source of our strength cos together, everybody achieves much. Peace By Sanguine77 I couldn't have said it better. Nairalanders, our life is singular, don't waste your blood pressure on trading stupidity. |

I wish i didn't have to type this.. It's a show of shame here!!! Smh at e warriors but lilly livered fellows in reality! So since when did being in d opposition become wrong?? We are quick to forget that dis same being in d opposition is what has led to d democratic change we are all celebrating. It's then hypocritical to champion d opposition but then refuse others from opposing u. If u are sure of ur works and testimony, then u need not be afraid of being opposed. It only makes ur victory sweeter!! I know pdp result at d presidential elections threw Apc into panic mode and all but there was no need for d Obas threat!! And to merely castigate d igbos for reacting or offer half hearted appologies only goes to show that one Nigeria is still afar of. Btw i still don't get why an opposition candidate all of a sudden becomes a non yoruba because igbos are in support of him.. So Lagos is now a one party state Even if Ambode wins, which i am sure he will, I will forever relish d narrow margin @ d presidential elections for Lagos. It shook Apc well and gave them some headaches... Till 2019 Sai Buhari.. Take Nigeria to d promised land! chikena |

Just unfortunate that Agbaje is now tainted as an Igbo ethnic politician! Imagine him promising to make an Eze Igbo a First Class Chief in Lagos. Except he was deceiving the Igbo he should know that The Igbo are a fiercely Republican and autonomous people who will not accept the overlordship of a single person as Eze all over Lagos Igbo- confusion will ensue! Just wondering how much of Igbo he can speak - in case he needs to try making a run for Governorship in any of the eastern states! Shame to the apostles of ethnic politics playing us against one another! Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa et al are Nigerians who deserve to vote and be voted for ANYWHERE in the country. It remains to be said however that it is an unreasonable and unfair thing to do to hit your host community under the belt by playing the ethnic card in election time when you have not been discriminated against in enjoying the dividend of democracy! The obvious attempt by Igbos at doing so in this elections is unfortunate and will only serve a notice on the Yoruba to be wary of the Igbo as a people nursing an agenda to take over their host community. The Igbo must consciously set out to put the Yoruba (their hosts in Lagos) at ease by correcting that impression. |
