good advice but take out APC. There's already opposition in the "Eastern Region". Apga in Abia, Anambra states, APC in Imo state, LP in Cross River and Rivers States, Accord in Delta State, APC in Edo State etc. You can't force people to jump in into APC just like that. It doesn't work that way. Thank you

Can APGA or LP achieve anything for you nationally speaking?

This Eastern Region union will get you no where, I promise.

You make it look like GEJ lost because of a gang-up whereas you know in the innermost part of your heart that he lost because he failed.

Just for your info, what Rochas, Amaechi, Ogbonna Onu and Ngige are doing is what some of you need to support instead of tagging them as betrayers.

You guys are already showing your political naivety by seeing it as a fight between SS/SE and the rest of the country. It won't bring you anything other than further delineation from the rest of the "world".

You're wrong!

The votes in the north were shared in the ratio of about 70 to 30. This was the same region that gave GEJ about 55% of the votes in 2011.

The fact remains that Jonathan failed and you guys should stop making it look like it was a conspiracy.

But there has to be some sort of strong opposition to check the incoming Government. besides, how are we sure that Buhari will not come to marginalise the SE/SS because he was soundly rejected in those regions?

Yes I agree he failed us but that's because he was doing everything to please the northerners forgetting that for northerners, it's either they're in power or your best is not good enough.
Why can't easterners have such one voice too?

You still don't get it. Jonathan would have remained president if he had performed irrespective of what the north thought.

Had he performed, he would have gotten the support of the SW and part of the NC which would have been good enough.

From all indications, they will be part now.
They are free, if they choose to. The reason I became particular about it was when you, whether errorneously or intentionally, said that it was part of the defunct Eastern Region.

When I say it's a marriage of strange bedfellows

What would be the language of communication at such meetings

Arewa ACF use Hausa. SW use Yoruba

What would be the language of communication between the Yoruba speaking Akoko Edo , Efik speaking Eket, Ijaw speaking Yenagoa and Ibo speaking umuahia

I agree with you on this. The issue for me now is what Buhari will do to the SE/SS when he takes over. undecided

I am all for strong opposition. I have always condemned the recent decamping from PDP to APC.

Why not wait and see how Buhari will lead the country before you start to gang-up against the country?

My advice remain that let your people join party of their choice and do not see APC as your enemy. It is politically suicidal to do so.

This thread is a welcome development because when are united, we will be stronger and more organized. Someone here was saying we have to lobby other region so as to achieve our political aspiration but she forgot that you can't successfully lobby others when you are still divided internally. Also like someone said, the political/economic struggle of the region will not be left in the hands of armed militants, but with this development, it will be championed by our elected officials starting from governors, senators, HoR members, activists, etc..let us fiercely rebut any agent of division in this thread..They are crawling around angry

What language do the north and South West speak?
I guess it is Arabic, since they are mostly Muslims.

Ok, let us wait and see the type of government Buhari will run. The reason I am in support of this move is in case buhari tries to run a vindictive government and box us to a corner.

If he is fair and just then all is fine.

He should build the second Niger bridge, build a seaport at Obuaka & Ibaka too. tongue tongue cheesy

I agree with you on that and I have suggested before that we allow APC have IMO state and probably also leave Edo state for them.

If I may advise the so called SS/SE union, it has to be that the regions must allow people to express their leaders and encourage full integration and adequate presence in the two political parties.

SS/SE must be present and seen to be active in both APC and PDP because to have a say in the two parties is the only way that these two regions can exert influence on national issues.

Take a look at the SW and you will see that PDP/AD/ACN and now APC have all succeeded at one time or the other in the region. The SW people have never outrightly seen PDP as a Hausa/Fulani party even though we've always been more at home with AD/ACN and now APC hence you see PDP winning in Ekiti and Ondo states.

On the contrary, the SE and SS regions are bent on ensuring that APC does not have a space in the regions! Pray, tell, how can you have a hope of being fully integrated in the scheme of things let alone be producing a president (remember that president GEJ was an accident which will not necessarily happen all the time) when all you do is to go against other regions?

My 50 cents.

Just to correct a particular lie in your post...
SW never loved PDP but voted for PDP in ekiti because of the person of fayose...Ondo was won by labour party; even with all PDP did to retain the state; they still voted their own party APC just like northerners have always ignored party to vote buhari since 2003.

In a nutshell, the hullabaloo about SE is to cajol, blackmail and intimidate them into accepting APC so that APC will appear more like a national party than regional party which is what it is presently irrespective of winning presidency...

So in all, SW love APC irrespective of whatever the party maybe doing to them in terms of corrupt enrichment of few and enslaving others...Even if PDP cuts off its scrotum to please SW; they will still go with APC...

Wow!
Anyway, the last time I checked I am at liberty to comment on any thread I so desire. Besides, my comments have been out of concern for the generality of Nigeria and the SS/SE in particular.

You've already allowed ethnic bigotry to becloud your judgement hence you fail to reason objectively and see the bigger picture.

This election was God sent, people needed a slap to wake themselves up. With the likes of Wike, OKowa, Udom, OBIANO and Ugwuanyi leading the SS/SE and the trillions of Naira WE ARE STILL GOING TO COLLECT TO THE DISMAY OF MANY APC SUPPORTERS. Our tomorrow is going to BE GREATER than our yesterday.
