Tell ur brother to quit d job,if dis stoRy is true bcuz if ur brother like let attend d church frm monday to monday they wld still sack him witout achieving nothing.dat job I wld liken it to one dat is ask to sleep an old woman of 150 years old.my brother dose pple are not practicing christianity

Guess your brother is also catholic which makes it more difficult. Otherwise he could as well have changed as there is no difference with all Protestants. He should attend mass and still go for their gathering pending when he gets another job.

I heard my brother got a job at a maintenance firm in PH. I came back for Easter and on sunday after attending holy saturday vigil mass (we are catholics), and that morning, he dressed up for service at some other church.

I asked why he was going there, and he started explaining that it was part of the job he took- the employer's wife is the owner of the church and the man makes it compulsory for every one of his employees to attend else a certain amount will be deducted from your salary. If you don't come during weekdays to cut grass and do clean-up, money will also be deducted.

I fail to understand how a human (somebody that calls himself a man of God) would violate people's freedom of religion like that all in the name of job.

The most annoying part is that he forces them to receive communion. That is particularly worrying because you don't know what really you are receiving especially since there is tattle that the man could be an Ogboni man.

The money being deducted ranges from about 5000 to 15,000 and their salary is about N50,000. If there is any donation in the church, the man deducts it from your salary.
So I need advice.

Sue them

The fact that your brother was aware of the ridiculous conditions before he took up employment will not stand in court. A good lawyer should be able to obtain an injunction to stop the employer from enforcing those conditions; from deducting their salaries unreasonably; to direct the employer to pay up all the money that had been deducted unfairly and to prevent the employer from firing him after the court proceedings.

It might be too expensive to his a lawyer journey you should be able to get a pro bono lawyer to take up the case.

"For in the presence of God, there is fullness of joy "
What joy is a job where you are in bondage?
Abraham and Sarah planned for God and Ishmael was the result!
Since Ishmael came, the world has not known peace. If only they had waited for Isaac to come at God's own time.
Your brother has no business being in that slavery of employment.
At God's appointed time, his dream and destiny job will come

There is nothing wrong in attending another church as long as they worship GOD,let's forget this your church my church thing the pastors created this artificial division,(and JESUS is not happy about it)JESUS never recognized any church, but prayed to the FATHER,saying that LET'S this be ONE as I and you are ONE
Did you skip the part were he was coerced to worship in that church and also how his salary is deducted at their discretion .

Yeah right. I stated my church to help people understand the story better. I don't see the thread turning into a church war. I appreciate your input
Wendy80:
Octaves , my brother's boss forces him to attend his church against his will would've bn better. U should have just sought for advice without stating Ur Church, I hate it when threads turn to church war.
^^ Someone said des nothing wrong attending another man's church, TRUE but everything is wrong when u use FORCE.

Op if your brother's rights are being trampled upon in that job, why does he continue? Yes I know he needs d job but as a Catholic, he should not go take communion in another church, plus d other indignities he's subjected to.
The bible says...Choose ye today whom ye shall serve - God or mammon? Joshua 24:15. Let your brother answer this question.
What he's doing is tantamount to stealing just because u need to survive. Don't compromise your faith for anything, just believe.
My humble submission

You see? This is what happens when "Catholics" don't actively practise their faith.

They become like balloons that can be blown by any wind to any corner.

No actively practising Catholic will even contemplate this.

I for one would die of starvation before I do this.
Don't be dramatic. What do you mean by"die of starvation" ?
All he needs to do on sundays is attend both churches until he gets a new job. Masses are celebrated at different hours in catholic church to meet with your convinience.

If you miss church once, 5k is gone 4rm ur salary. If u miss clean up, the same. If u don't receive communion, the same. If there is request for donation. Your is automatically deducted without u having any say. It's too much my dear. But my bro knws he won't be there for long and is keenly looking 4 another. Tnx 4 ur contribution
This is slavery and it should not be condoned. @Octave,is your bro married? Is it the money (#50,000) your family is depending on? If no,then why d hell is he still there, frm ur posts so far,u dont want him to leave now because of d token he is still receiving and yet u came here 4 advice. The best solution is for your brother to quit that job. 4 d fact that he's still has a small income will not give him enough zeal he needs to go out and look 4 a good and well paying job that will not interfere with his freedom. He needs to quit d job because if pple sees that he still has a job, they wont help. For crying out loud,50k is not even enough to take care of a family, let him quit and prob start something with his savings 4 d main time and then set out to look for a good job. And one more thing,in the Catholic church(because I'm a Catholic) they have well to do pple, some own companies, some work in reputable companies and holds respectable positions in their place of work and they can help get a job,so let ur brother explain his predicament to ur Parish Priest and I'm sure he should be able to talk to one of his parishioners who would be willing to help. Don't assume he wouldn't,just try!

That communion part is very risky.....I v never seen where they force people to eat communion. It should be voluntary.
I am afraid your brother's destiny is being used. There is no attributes of a Christian from the attitude of your brother's boss and his wife
