Before the elections, Nigerian military used 6 weeks to hammer them in all their camps.
Re: Suddenly, Boko Haram Are No More by 9jatriot(m): 11:35pm On Apr 17, 2015
Opposition has been asking your oga to flush out boko haram for the past 6 yrs, but he claimed they were his siblings until he was about to lose the election then he discovered that in 6wks he could do it. Thanks OP for pointing out that, opposition was right again. In fairness to them, they have always insisted that a serious government will be able to flush them out and that the Nigerian army was capable of flushing them out if allowed to do so. These past 7 wks has shown that they were right after all

[size=15pt]Boko Haram has achieved the aim northerners set it up to achieve.

Destabilize GEJ because he is a southern christian until he is forced not to contest or lose because Nigerians are tired of Boko Haram violence.

They have achieved their goal, Buhari a northern muslim is president now. So you will NEVER hear about Boko Haram again.

Boko Haram slit throats of 12 as army tries to save civilians: sources

Fri Apr 17, 2015 2:49pm EDT

(Reuters) - Boko Haram militants have slit the throats of 12 people in northeast Nigeria as the army was trying to evacuate civilians from the area, a military source and a witness said on Friday.

The Islamist group has been driven out of much of the huge swathe of territory they controlled at the start of the year, thanks to a concerted push by troops from Nigeria and neighbours Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

The town of Gwoza, in mountainous terrain, was one of the last places to fall, on March 27, and there remain pockets of Boko Haram activity in the area, security sources say.

"Just as troops were trying to evacuate some civilians from the hills so as to safeguard them from a planned air strike ... some Boko Haram attacked them and slit the throats of 12 people," a military source said of Wednesday's attack.

A witness, Jonas Musa, told Reuters his parents were both among the victims. He said soldiers had moved one wave of people from the hills around Gwoza, but before they could go back for the second, the attackers struck.

Failure to crush Boko Haram or protect civilians was one reason President Goodluck Jonathan lost an election on March 28 to Muhammadu Buhari. Boko Haram, fighting to establish an Islamic state, has killed thousands and kidnapped hundreds during its six-year-old insurgency in Africa's biggest economy and top oil producer.

Buhari has pledged to spare no effort in crushing the militants after he is sworn in on May 29. He said on Tuesday he would do everything he can to rescue more than 200 girls abducted by the group a year ago from a school in the village of Chibok, but that he could not promise to find them.

No need for UN military enforcement to battle Boko Haram: Nigeria

AFP | 17 April, 2015 09:01

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday told the United Nations his country would not need the help of an international force in the fight against Boko Haram.

The outgoing leader said in a statement he wanted the UN to focus instead on helping to rebuild communities and assist those affected by the six-year Islamist insurgency.

Jonathan made the remarks after meeting with the special representatives of the UN secretary-general for west and central Africa, Mohammed Ibn Chambas and Abdoulaye Bathily, the statement said.

The UN refugee agency has said that 1.5 million people have been displaced by Boko Haram violence in northern Nigeria, while more than 13,000 people have been killed.

Jonathan said that with the support of troops from Chad, Niger and Cameroon, the Nigerian military had in recent months regained most of the towns and villages seized by the Islamist militants in the northeastern states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.

The Nigerian military has "commenced a final push to take the last stronghold of the insurgents in Sambisa Forest" in Borno state, the statement quoted him as saying.

It is believed that most of the 219 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram from Chibok in Borno state a year ago are being held in the forest.

Chambas, a former head of west African regional bloc ECOWAS, told Jonathan that the UN team was visiting the countries affected by the Boko Haram insurgency, which also includes Chad, Cameroon and Niger.

He reaffirmed the UN's readiness to support the ongoing efforts by Nigeria and its neighbours to end the insurgency.
I hope now that you feel a little more enlightened, @OP, you will desist from proving to the world just how bad our educational system has become.

You right about that. Boko Haram was shut down with a single phone call from the organizers who now have what they want - Northern monopoly over Nigeria's oil fields.
