Firstly this is a very important cause to my heart. True federalism holds the possibility for reduced dependence on Niger Delta oil and growing other sectors of our economy for EMPLOYMENT creation after what may be some difficult period initially including collapse/merger of non-viable states that were created by the military DICTATORS to simply share the national cake.

Secondly, Buhari was elected based on his reputation since he has been in the public space in the mid-70s as the military governor of North Eastern state. All he said and did since then form parrt of who he is and what we bought, talk less of a promise he made in 2011 while campaigning for the presidency.

I hope you understand my PoV.
I totally understand your point of view, true federalism would be the best thing that can ever happen to Nigeria. However, I thought this thread was about APC/Buhari's 2015 campaign promises?... Can we really hold APC to account if they dont do that?... the APC can simply tell you it wasnt a part of their 2015 campaign promise and they wouldn't be failing on their promise if they do that.

Why cant this thread just focus on Buhari/APC's campaign promises (as the title states) instead of "What we wish Buhari/APC should do"?... Or would you want to change the title of the thread?

I already titled the thread Buhari/ APC so it is not about the 2015 promises alone.

Cheers.

Buhari: Fudging on Oil Prices, the Economy and What Else?
15 Jan 2015

General Muhammadu Buhari
PERSPECTIVE
By Peter Ntephe and Steve Ahaneku

Social media has been awash recently with the statement credited to General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) that one of his first steps in Government will be to stabilise oil prices.
Several memes have emerged online mocking that promise. In one of the more hilarious ones, several presidents are seen laughing at the ludicrousness of it all, with Obama asking ‘you be OPEC?’

Focus on statements made by Buhari and not statements being made by mischievous journalists on his behalf or statements people WISH was made by Buhari. This isnt a time for jokes any more, elections are over. During the campaigns, there were more important things to spend time on rather than expending energy responding to every flimsy allegation by all and sundry. If you like, you can continue to overlook the REAL promises made while you spend your life focusing on 'alleged' promises. But if that's what gives you peace, if that's what rocks your boat, then feel free to please yourself!

Yes honey $1 must equal N1.
Yea it pleases me to hold our president elect to his word. It's high time we stop allowing politicians use our heads during campaign. We don't follow Buhari around to hear every word he says. That's why we have journalists.

Vanguard reported what he said and he didn't deny it until when it's time for action.

Okay please yourself!

In fact, you can start popping your champagne in celebration of your prophecy or prediction, you can now start saying things like "I told you so" because we all know N1 cannot be equal to $1. Just like I said, whatever rocks your canoe wink

Did you read the contents of "during campaign" link you just posted? I just read it and didn't see where Buhari said he would make dollar equal to naira.
Buhari's quoted words are: “It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar; this does not speak well for the nation’s economy,’’

Blame poor journalism for the "nonsense" heading there.

The headline with picture was published on 23 March i.e. five clear days before the election on March 28. Obviously the Buhari team did not consider it worthwhile to issue a denial BEFORE the elections as the candidate was sold on a FRAUDULENT platform of deceit and deliberate distortions.

Meanwhile, what exchange rate "speaks well for the economy"? Abi that one na balu balu figure of abracadabra, the more you look, the less you see shocked

You have still failed to prove that GMB promised to make dollar equal in value to naira. Prove it or discontinue the discussion.

I have proven what I need to prove- he did not DENY he said it when he was reported to have said it five days BEFORE the elections because he is an utterly MORALLY CORRUPT person who has nothing in relation to the word, integrity!

I will make naira equal in value to dollar – Buhari
March 23, 2015

Owerri, March 23, 2015 (NAN) The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday said he would ensure that the Naira was equal to the dollar in value, if voted into office.

Buhari stated this during the South-East presidential rally of the party at Dan Anyima Stadium, Owerri.

“It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar; this does not speak well for the nation’s economy,’’ he said.
