horlams:I'm quite aware of the abysmal Chinese copy of the Russian Smerch. Seeing that the Chinese PLA didn't want it because of its inaccuracy and other problems, I didn't think any other country would buy it. Good heavens, Google tells me the Tanzos are the only operator! ![]() Be that as it may, Augustine seemed to dismiss the Denel T5-52 155mm artillery system and I'm interested as to his reasoning. |

frumentius: The IKRI APC, although small, is a good example of joint development between the 2 African heavy weights. The APC was jointly developed by DCD(South-Africa) and Mekahog(Nigeria) for the Nigerian Police. With 43 units currently been built in mekahog's Nigerian facility. Like i said, although small, if our politicians can stop bickering/back-stabbing and co-operate like the French, Germans and Italians do in Europe, the possibilities for growth are endless. 2 Likes |

frumentius:It doesn't have advanced FCS with precision guidance(GLONASS, Initial navigation or GPS) GLONASS and GPS guided rockets make the logistics trail a bit lighter compared to unguided rockets. Say you wanted to hit a located enemy command tent/post you'll just fire one or two 300m rockets, but with unguided you'll fire a salvo. Area suppression Vs Precision strikes. And Oh that chap is anti-South African. |

Henry120:The Ikri APC is a case whereby a product is refined for customer needs or specs. Not really a proper R & D project like Assegai with Brazil. Cooperation is inevitable from defence to other areas our politicians will realise it soon. |

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 9:25pm On Apr 30, 2015 |
MikeCZAR:Read and understand properly. The Product did not exist. It only came to life based on the cooperation of DCD, Mekahog and the Nigerian police. I also went further to say, because of this cooperation 43 units are currently been built from mekahog's plant for the Nigerian police. Imagine what further cooperation and less back-stabbing could bring. I did not ask you to start naming Assegai. |

Henry120:DCD Springbuck APC refined for customer needs & specs and I'm not saying Mekahog didn't part in the programme. Similar to the Umbani bomb, some person might argue Al Tariq didn't exist before Denel(SA) and Tazuwan(UAE) cooperation. Assegai offers something only limited to few counties. |

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by MikeCZAR: 10:17pm On Apr 30, 2015 |
Henry120:The Ikri isn't really a new product. Mekahog is assembling the vehicles not running a production line where by another nation can order. Joint-development should really be between both defence ministries like France and Italy FREMM dev or SA and Brazil A-Darter. I swear today Nigeria and SA have more 3 defence MoU. If Buhari was to visit SA after his inauguration or Zuma make another visit more MoU will be signed and not followed and implemented. There's just no political will which is silly. |

frumentius: In war, it's hard to fire artillery on targets 73 km away in a far away city, except you want to kill innocent civilians and incur the wrath of United Nations. Real life war is NOT a video game. How do you do fire correction, can you see 73 km inside your enemy's territory? How do you even tie down the enemy constantly to same spot 73 km away, is the opposing army a foolish sitting duck ? That's why the whole world is not rushing to buy artillery systems beyond 30 km range. A photo thread this is, I don't wanna talk much bros. |
