14:You possibly don't know the meaning of envy which is different from jealousy or 'want to be like Nigeria' in a nutshell. Nigeria is seen as the African GIANT and that takes some attention away from SA. If you aren't seeing that it is time to take note of it now. Please, take your Township post somewhere else. |

all4naija:I don't think SA wants to be like Nigeria at all - no!!!!! You are saying - your being seen as the GIANT of Africa takes away some attention from SA? I beg to differ. Right now as I type this the Commonwealth Games inspection team is in Durban inspecting facilities in preparation to award the 2022 games to Durbs.......that alone is proof enough we have enough attention as it is. Need I mention other notable events that will prove to you that SA has got nothing to worry about in terms of attention? You may want to tell me that investors are looking at Nigeria more than they do SA because of Nigeria's big population etc......got news for you, once we complete strengthening our power sector (which for the moment limits investments in the manufacturing sphere) - just sit back and watch in awe the investments that will be made in the manufacturing sector.... Having huge numbers in terms of the population may give you some advantage, yes (attention) - but rest assured it is what you can do even when you have not such a huge population that counts - and in that regard nobody comes close to SA yet. We do a whole lot. That is why we are not concerned about attention. So yes - we are not at all worried about being overlooked - it's just not possible that SA can be overlooked in global matters. You can't even begin to talk about Africa and make references about this and that without citing SA in your sentence.... Oppose this lets hear! |

PhysicsQED:Could that be the contribution nigeria made was less than those countries listed? its possible. otherwise they could have included all countries of the world. |

morpheus24:Right now you guys are running out of fuel - you are one of the big crude oil producers in the world - yet you guys are going through a massive fuel shortage in your country. I can't even begin to imagine what was gonna be the case if you were like SA with no crude oil at all? By the way why do you have so many people in your filling stations each with containers making all these long ques? https://www.nairaland.com/2287267/7-hours-experience-filling-station |

I have always known this. You will never hear Nigerian top brass defending their contribution to the struggle. That is because they know the truth and our govt is only protecting the little integrity they have by not exposing their lies publicly. |

Parolee:Get a passport, go and visit other "African" countries and maybe you might just be able to answer those questions for your self instead of hiding in the PSeudo African state known as SOUTH AFRICA which technically by your own admission is not really Africa or technically has an entirely different history from most AFrican countries. WE DO NOT WATN BRAINWASHED SO CLLED AFRICANS TO LEAD THIS GREAT CONTINENT! Over Nigerias dead body. AFRICA FOR REAL AFRICANs!!! |

Voicefilter:At this point who cares what was contributed to South AFrica or not. The fact that you people refuse to face the Underlying effects of Apatheid and the fact that the Master/Slave system known as Apatheid instituted a system and mind set that you are still suffering the after effects of is your true problem not whether Nigeria contributed anything to your "struggle" or if there are drug dealers hanging around in Hilbrow. |

SirShymexx:Lol I'm seeing this late, it didn't appear in my mention. So the few ANC folks exiled in the UK, earned Britain a spot on the list? Lol that's funny! As much as you (and even I) might not want to admit, you must realise Nigeria was once a leading force in Africa. Let me give you a quick example: During the Nigerian civil war in the 60s, the UK played a proactive role, funnelling arms and aid to the Nigerian side while Biafran aid supply was blocked, ultimately forcing starvation & disease. Back in the UK, the anti-war sentiment was strong, a lot of folks were opposed to what was considered government's support for genocide of a particular tribe, the most famous of the anti-war crusaders at the time, was John Lennon. Now google up the Nigerian civil war and checkout what side Britain was on. My point: A government's foreign policy is what counts, not popular sentiments of its people. The government's official stance is the country's stance. A lot of people in the UK are opposed to the UK's role in imposing sanctions in Russia but doesn't matter. Maybe the $61Billion is a bit far fetched, but that's not say Nigeria never made substantial contributions. You're not being objective here by deliberately turning a blind eye to the contributions made by Nigeria & Nigerians, you haven't presented me with any tangible source yet, just theories after theories, and things you consider plausible or implausible. Unfortunately, this holds no weight and is therefore undebatable. To dispute something that most people consider a fact, you've got to present more than just theories. I've spent more than half my life in the UK, and a reasonable chunk of it in Nigeria as well so I've got excellent perspectives from both sides. The rivalry between Nigeria & South Africa is common knowledge, the acrimonious comments from both Nigerians & South Africans on social media are not just for the fun of it, they're an accurate reflection of the frosty relationship between the two countries. You claim to have vast knowledge of Africa, I'm not going to dispute that but perhaps you need to explore the Nigeria-SA relationship a bit further, after which I'm sure you'd get the clearer picture of what's actually going on between the two counties. A lot of information is out there already. Thanks to Xenophobic attacks, we've had a season of verbal attacks on both countries & I'm frankly tired of it now. I've lost steam for this Nigeria-SA debate, both countries hate each other, they have to live with that. That been said if you can present to me good sources (I'm not even going to ask for academic sources, any source will suffice) to back up your assertions and not just your theories of plausibility & implausibility, then we can go on having this debate else, we can both agree to accept our own versions of history. |

Nigeria is full of it. They did not do anything special. Hell the Apartheid south africa provided more support to bifar than nigeria gave the the liberation movements. |
