@barcanista I think its about time our government apply some technical idea on all this population buhuhaha. We suppose to know in exact the number of people from Nigeria, working in Nigeria,Unemployed,Schooling,Graduates,Politicians,Tax payers, business people, artisans, entertainers, etc. Everything about everybody in or from Nigeria in detail. Like in west, immediately one is born the immigration will be contacted to collect the finger prints. Their GoVernment Knows of every single soul living or visiting their country. another thing is that government can not just take tax payers money to develop unemployed without developing and giving the working class a conducive environment. We(Southern) are working, the northern eating, all in the name of population.Monkey dey work.........
Change won't come until we stop counting in estimates, but in accuracy. The Igbos are not proud of their population but of their achievements in life, with or without any help from government. 1million illiterates put together is = 1 learned son of the soil. 2million poors is = 1 Nnewi business man. That how i check it.lol
#GEJ MY HERO
#BARCANISTA MY ROLE MODEL
#IMOBOY

The bold is exactly what any reasonable government will do. But we all know the outcome of the last census that we had in Nigeria. I don't think the fate of our people in the Lower Niger should be at the mercies of some ruling class elsewhere. I think the demands should be made and vigorously pursued. If they insist on maintaining the status quo, then a call for referendum should be pursued to the letter.

Even the Igbos that are part of the majority is heavily MARGINALISED. In fact, it is the most marginalised. So what are you saying?

So what is your opinion on quota system that always comes to play whe merit doesn't suit the northerners? You see who they are calling for it to be applied even in a scholarship scheme?
Sadly, the quota system is the second worst thing to happen to Nigeria after our multi-ethnicity. Unfortunately, it would be very difficult to wipe the quota system mess away from Nigeria as long as we remain in a democracy and as long as the north continues to have a larger population and a bigger landmass.

In my opinion, it would take only the grace of God and very clever, smart and persuasive leaders for the canker-worm of quota system to be removed under a democracy. It may also require a charismatic northern president to drive for such a 'wishful' change.

in the second republic, the ibos had the vice president

in the fourth republic, the ibos have had 5 senate presidents, they currently have the SGF, deputy senate president, deputy speaker, several ministers, DG's, perm secs etc.

THE SHUWA ARABS HAVENT BEEN GIVEN ANY ANY ANY ANY POLITICAL POST IN NIGERIA EITHER BY APPOINTMENT, ELECTION, OR SELECTION.

NIGERIA SHOULD STOP MARGINALISING THE SHUWA ARABS. ENOUGH OF POLITICAL INEQUALITY IN NIGERIA

First Republic- Ceremonial President without Executive Power.

Second Republic- A Spare tire office aka VP.

As for the SP, Perm Secs etc, you mean ONLY Igbos filled it? All those are secondary appointment. I don't care who becomes SP or SGF. The fundamental is equal representation in the parliament. You can keep other positions

Guy shut up abeg! Did we complain to you? At least we had good opportunities and we utilized them but your Ijaw brother had the opportunity and messed it up. He didn't even do anything tangible for you guys.
You have no right to support the Igbos because you are not Igbo and you hate them. You are a BIGOT

barcanista: you sound pathetic. Ojukwu(of cursed memory) ran away frm battle after Adekunle had taught him the lessons of his life. His Deputy, Useless Effiong surrendered and you are saying that it was planned? Hahahaah
You should be ashamed that Coward Ojukwu was ashamed of his own people, hence he couldn't invest in the East nor build properties there. Coward Ojukwu looted the treasury as Eastern Governor while you ppl suffer. He(Ojukokoro) contested for and lost ALL elections on his own turf to even a Yorubaman(Obj) and Fulaniman (Yaradua). He even lost WOEFULLY in his Senate bid to a Newbie in Nnewi. Even today, an Ijawman in the person of Goodluck Jonathan is considered the MESSIAH and GOD of the Igbos over any Iboman. That same Ijawman will always hold Adekunle in highest esteem.
Adekunle on the otherhand may not by RICH but his reputation as a greatman and heroics lives with him and after him. Today, we can't talk of the success of the Nigerian Army over Biafran secessionist without Adekunle name. His generation shall be proud.
See the turncoat /bigot who is now speaking in favour of the Igbos. Are you our mouthpiece? Did we at anytime complain to you? What should be the most important thing is performance and merit in governance.
Did Barcanista actually spew that rubbish you quoted above??... I just noticed he is invading the Nairaland archives deleting every single insulting post he made against Igbos when he was in the APC. Now the same BArcanista for petty pecuniary gains is pretending to fight for Igbos. How despicable can a person be! undecided

either ceremonial or unceremonial
either by election or selection, the fact still remains that the ibos nay the hausas and yoruba and to a fair extent the ijaws, have all be reckoned with in the political equation in Nigeria.

When is it going to be the turn of the Baccham, Kemberi, Gbagyi, Bassa, Koma etc. All these people are all Nigerians too.

Fyi, the Shuwa arabs havent gotten any senatorial/legislative seat in the history of nigeria

Barrcanista, you raised a very salient issue in Nigeria and I want to state the following
1. I've always advocated for autonomous regional government as a means of eliminating perceived inequalities in Nigera.the earlier the better.
2. I dont believe in the 170million touted population of Nigeria.may be we can be around 130million now
3. The single largest ethnic group in Nigeria is yoruba followed by hausa and igbo.the concept of fulani was a joker used in inflating northern populations.
4. The political and economic arrangementsthat will reduce population and local administrative to zero is regionalism coupled with at least 50% of all resources and levies which will graduate to 80% in 15 years will help Nigeria move forward
That's my take.

Election into the House Representative is based on population. For your information, Hausa/Fulani is not the only ethnic group in Nigeria.

If we can have autonomous arrangement, it becomes a welcome development because every region will attend to their troubles. Each region will of course send equal representation to the Parliament at the center.

Beyond whatever ,this is highly intellectual. The British propaganda the Nigeria agenda to favor the core north, sincerely we need a constitutional review ,and I thought the national confab should have addressed that,by what we have now,we are far from equality and there is no way there will be fairness and rule of law.

With all these facts yet the North is still far far behind in terms of education, civilization, development etc.
