sharap you inconsequential fool.. You keep blabing like you are a king-maker in Nigeria or you have any relevance in APC or Nigeria. What are you people gonna do if buhari decides to ban ait or any media house he so desires? You people should spare us the foolishness.

Buhari will be the president come may29, and he can as well ban any media outlet he so desires, heavens won't fall down.

Gej did worst and nothing happened. So you people should stop acting as if buhari must do your biddings.

Nonsense
Buhari Will ban ur life and nothing will happen

Were we in a dictatorship when newspapers were seized and Aljazeera reporters locked up for days while GEJ looked the other way as if he is no longer the president? You guys have seen proofs of giants of democracy worldwide do similar stuffs to media houses who didn't do a quarter of what GMB and his team did. Who told you guys freedom of press do not come with rules and repercussions? Did Buhari proscribe AIT as president elect? Fact is PDP and their sympathisers are just looking for every means of giving a bad name to a government that has never been. Like I have said earlier the PDP is going to die a natural death when this same government who they want to terminate before the embryo starts dishing out how a sane government should be in a developing world. Till then you guys should enjoy your new status as children of multiple anger.
word. This pdp guys are just hypocrites. Even when you want to ignore their stupidity you find it hard to do so. The same pdp folks that were cheering gej up when he was ruling with impunity are the same people shouting over what buhari never did.

And the most sickening thing about them is the shameless way they go about telling buhari what to do and what not to do as if they voted him in the first place

Is Aljazera Nigeria media that the should step into the country and in very sensitive areas without clearance?
My brother, they even know that... The sovereignty of any country is respected and things done the rightful way, even military does talk more of media when it concerns another country...
Remember, AIT is indigenous just as FOX that lambasted Obama.
Sent AIT to America or Aljazera to America without due clearance.
I stand to analyze all these as a true Nigerian without being baised. If anyone errs, say it or don't ever complain about any ill in this country when it affects you.
If it were GMB will Aljazera journalist been released by now?
It's insulting to Nigeria from Aljazera...
How will you feel about a 3rd party try to know what's happening in your family without your approval as a man?
Was BBC not in Nigeria covering Nigeria electoral activities even before time and why weren't they arrested?
Let's argue because we want Nigeria to go forward and not partisan actions.
Thanks.

The rights group however declared that General Buhari should be tutored on how to conduct the act of governance in a democratic era, believing that democracy was new in the President-elect dictionary and strange to his nature because of his military dictatorship background, stressing that the Freedom of Press is one of the ground norms of entrenching democracy in the world.

And you expect me to believe the Nigerian Army and the government with all their antecedents of lies and deceit since the issue of insurgence and Chibok girls started? Now you fault these reports below..Tell me if these two guys just wondered from nowhere to Borno state to be detained for 10 days! How long does it take in resolving such issues giving all the hullabaloo about it?

Two Al Jazeera journalists covering the upcoming Nigerian presidential elections have been detained by government forces in the city of Maiduguri in Borno state.
Ahmed Idris and Ali Mustafa, both Nigerian nationals, remain confined in their hotel room and their equipment confiscated after being questioned by the military officials on Tuesday.
The Nigerian military has said that the journalists were operating without "protection, accreditation or due clearance", and confirmed that the two journalists remain officially detained until further notice.
The two journalists were detained while reporting on the Nigerian forces fighting armed group Boko Haram as part of Al Jazeera's special coverage on the upcoming elections.
Al Jazeera has demanded the release of two of its journalists "without conditions".
The network said that both Idris and Mustafa are officially accredited by the Independent Electoral Commission in Abuja with the clearance to report from anywhere in Nigeria during the entire election period.
"We call on the Nigerian authorities to release Ahmed Idris and Ali Mustafa; they have all the relevant paperwork to report on the Nigerian elections and stories related to the election", an Al Jazeera spokesman said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Both men had just finished filming a story on the military with their cooperation. Both men are accredited and respected Nigerian journalists", the statement read.
The military statement also said that both men were said to be 'loitering' in various locations, however they were actually detained in their hotel rooms.
Their detainment drew condemnation from the Committee to Protect Journalists.
"Nigerian authorities and the military should understand that the credibility of the election is dependent in large part on the media, both local and foreign, being allowed to report freely," said Peter Nkanga, CPJ's West Africa representative.
"We call on the military to release Ahmed Idris and Mustafa Ali from their hotel, return their camera, and allow every journalist the freedom to document the electoral process before, during, and after the vote."
http://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa/2015/03/al-jazeera-journalists-detained-nigeria-150325212514961.html

After spending 10 days in house of arrest in their hotel room, the two Al Jazeera journalists, detained by the Nigerian military for allegedly loitering around areas of operations, regained their freedom in the early hours of Saturday.

The release of the two journalists, Ahmed Idris and Ali Mustapha, who had been detained in Maiduguri, Borno State, was said to have been ordered by the military.

It would be recalled that the Defence Headquarters spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, had in a statement, claimed that the duo were moving around restricted areas in Yobe and Borno states without accreditation.

Subsequently, the two journalists sued the Nigerian Army challenging their detention, an action which had been condemned by Nigerian and international civic groups.

They were represented by Lagos-based legal practitioner and human rights activists, Femi Falana.

Falana, however, sought a declaration that the arrest and detention by the military were illegal, unconstitutional, and violated their right to personal liberty guaranteed by Section 34, 35 and 41 of the constitution and Article 5, 6 and 12 of the African Charter on Human and peoples’ Right Act.

He also sought an order directing the military and the Chief of Army Staff, Kenneth Minimah, to release the journalists from military custody immediately.

It is believed that the decision of the journalists to approach the court was responsible for their release.

Following the detention of these journalists, the management of Al Jazeera demanded their immediate release, claiming they had full accreditation from the Nigerian authorities.

Now as a citizen, I will be more concerned about what the Nigerian authorities were hiding judging from their antecedents of lying to their own citizens especially when this was during a very important election. Why do they have to be detained for 10 days in a hotel? Sinister motives?? When you break trust don't blame people when they lose total faith in you.

You doubt the credibility of the soldiers and you expect me to concur with Aljazera?
No! I won't.
They were accredited by INEC, yes.
For the activities of the military on the insurgent at sensitive places or Electoral activity?

Hahahahahah... Cooked lies can never be a truth.
Remember, the soldiers tailed them for long before the hotel-room arrest.
Why didn't CNN, Channels find themselves in surge discord with the soldiers?
The truth is that you have no confidence in the soldiers so nothing I say will be affirmed by you but I want other readers to sincerely answer the questions above and they will know who is telling the truth.
The earlier we start running away from all these foreigner's easy meddling with our activities like they are we, the better we thrive as a country.

I hope you are aware that the two journalists are Nigerians working for Aljazeera? What is the Nigerian army hiding? Why were they kept for 10 days?? Why wait for a legal threat and uproar before releasing them? The truth remains the Nigerian government clamped down and denied two of her citizens fundamental human rights for a whole 10 days because they work for a foreign media house who obviously they don't want to cover the elections.

I know every thing about the situation bro. If you are a journalist will you go to sensitive areas without military approval?
This is about external influence... will the middle east come to Nigeria and violate laws without using a citizen?
You don't know journalist, they are doggy and love what they do with passion... So you have to check them rigorously...

Sometimes I wish there is no advent of social media in Nigeria, a lot of conflicting information going around on a daily basis.

On GMB, whether he took responsibility or waived it on other party...the reality is it's undemocratic and unconstitutional to bar a media house in covering events . And all this I will... I will... statement should be managed to lower the expectation of Nigerians because this is not a military era. These I will... I will... Statement is autocratic in nature and somebody needs to remind him is no more in 1980...where you give order and the zombies follow.
Please elaborate more on the bolded. Is it in the constitution that all events of private citizens and even public ones must be covered by all journalists? Can a person be taken to court for refusing a journalist or all journalist from covering a private event of any citizen. Are they saying Buhari has no right to refuse media coverage of any private visit in his home as a president elect (please note that he is not the president yet and the visit was not an official visit). Please quote the relevant section of the constitution that empowers the media to cover all public and private function of all public or private citizens.

So what these Buhari haters are implying is that every and all journalists and media outfits, both local and international must be allowed access to the president at every function and event both official and unofficial, no need for permission or accreditation.
