grin they said bright of biafra..which means the slaves from calabar igbos idomas igalas even kalabaris ijaws were counted as igbos na as at 17th century na..not meaning every one is igbo

Can even see from the second advert for the missing slave. His name was Kufre - which is certainly of Ibibio/Efik Origin.

How can a guy in Nigeria make a statement like that about Jamaica? The white man is the criminal, but he tries to pretend that he is law abiding and that black people are criminals. Hell the white man even calls Nigerians criminals, but the white man never says what crimes he has helped the Nigerians commit.

bruv, trust me when i say the white man is the enemy. no one knows that more tthan me. i am not one of these uncle tom white ass lickers on this forum. however what i am starting to despise as much as the white man is the braggadocios and loquacious nature of these biafrans. recently it is starting to get on my nerves for some weird reason. so keep in mind my allegiance is still with black people. my rant against jamaica was just a way to knock these proud biafrans down a notch or two seeing as they are claiming jamaica is a no mans land full of igbos. i dont mind people bragging if they have the pedigree to back it up but these fools brag and their states are the worst developed in nigeria. its like a poor man bragging about owning a bentley cheesy

If only Nigerians will give Igbo people chance to develop her. This shows that Igbo is part of Developed USA. Woow

African Americans have been telling people on this website that we built America and all we got from people was denile and negativity. Yes Igbo's helped developed America, and where did you think African Americans came from?
Our ancestors are your ancestors.

Yorubas are quick to claim Haiti but what they don't know os that Igbos dominate Jamaican culture and history

Between Haiti and Jamaica which would you prefer to visit?

If you ever lived in the creole population you'll realize they never deemed themselves yoruba. Most of Haitians believed their ancestors migrated from igbo people or they are mixed of igbo tribe and non african community hence they have a town specially named after igbo and even created a song they called ibo lele supposedly it was a spiritual music from their ancestors that became mainstream when one of their musician did a video of it. The Haitian actually have never believed they are of Yoruba descendant. To be honest, they are peatically right. Most yoruba slaves and other west African nations were sent to Portuguese and Spanish speaking caribbean nations while the bight of Biafra, Asanti, and southern african tribes were sent to America and English speaking caribbean nation.

The reason yoruba religion survived more so than others is Yoruba slaves were the last tribe to arrive in the Spanish nations so alot of their ppl tried to incorporate their religion to the forced religion in other not to lose themselves. The other tribes such as the wolf, etc whom were also send to Spanish speaking Carib nations that long lost everything about themselves equally learned the yoruba ppl new region. The same with the Haitian grpup, they lost their culture even though they did tried to maintain their culture as well afterall Haiti had the longest revolution out all caribbean nations, But sadly, since Haiti whites were the most brutal, they lost majority of their culture and during revolution the Haitians adopted the fastest growing african religion at that time in other to try and maintain their African culture. Till this day, Haitians were the only slaves that all they could to maintain as much connection to Africa. I'm actually very prix of those ppl despite their poverty. They fought the hardest and tried to rebuild their african connection the hardest.

As for Virginia, most of the slaves sent to virginia came from bright of Biafra so this isn't much of a surprised. NC, SC and VAhad the highest number of bight of Biafra slaves sent.

Thank you and God bless
Your observation is duly noted
But we can't just walk out of nigeria whilst nigeria has financial gains to be made from our presence.

Don't let's make that mistake, remaining in Nigeria will continue to be the greatest risk to generations to come. Whether you know it or not, an average Hausa Fulani kanuri sees igbo man as an infidel therefore hates you with a passion. The only side of Nigeria that is fair to all is the southwest people and these people have come of age politically economically and educationally to know what's best for them and who they want to stay with.

The financial gains to be made from our presence holds no ground considering the level of world technology advancement. Think of it Nigeria importing rice from Burkina Faso, sugar from Brazil and so on. The economy will reorganise itself and everything will fall in place, then necessity will be order of invention. New thing will replace Igbo absence and every body will be intact.

Do you think Nigeria will not import everything from Biafra republic if we are allowed to go on our own, they will even import our beautiful girls in marriage and you know our girls like good things now especially money. Bros forget about oil in our land, there's abundance of oil and gas in Yoruba land that have never been explored which awolowo, having see on the future, told them not to mention there's oil in that region. And the world technology is moving away from oil towards safer energy.

The only problem Igbo will have is the land mass sizeable to take them when Biafra republic is created.

In Jamaica today a slang for fair skinned people is "Ebo".

This dates back to the slave era where Igbos were more likely to be light skinned
another biafran concoction. the igbos in jamaica were the darkest. the igbos of future generations in jamaica only started getting lighter becaused they were enslaved with indians called coolies and from these two nations being slaves side by side, they inter-married and interbred and thats why jamaicans look the way they look. they are a combination of coolies and black. learn your history and stop lying to the people of nairaland

These signs are disputed as being European designs.

They're not 75%, 75% have at least one ancestor. There are evidences of Igbo culture, language and cuisine in the United States. The word okra was introduced into English by American Igbo slaves. The culture of Jonkonnu and Obeah/Hoodoo practices were introduced by Igbo slaves. Gumbo is very similar to Okro (or okro soup) and it's based on okra.

Virginia/North Carolina Jonkonnu masquerade

Gumbo is nothing like okro soup.

Well...... I'm tempted to curse the colonialists and slave traders for robbing us of our rich cultural heritage but I won't.

Meanwhile, this doesn't call for igbophobia from any tribe that feels threatened by the achievements of the Igbos (this is not inclusive)

Provide that your proof I wait. Every body knows the Igbo slaves, wolof slaves, Angolan slaves, and Akan were the most rebellious slaves during the slave trade. The yoruba were known as docile hence they were preferred by most slaves owner. The afro mentioned were hated by the whites due to the fact the Akan, wolof, ango, igbo and efik were likely to either kill their master's, run away, committ suicide immediately after begin bought or land from Africa or incite revolution against the master. So I would like to read where you learned otherwise and was never taught in any of the subject I've studied when I was extremely fascinated with caribbean and AA hjstory. Oya provide.

The only reason Virginia took more igbo slaves than others was because the bight of biafran slaves were the cheapest at that time. Nobody wanted the bight of biafran slaves due to their tendency of committing suivide, inciting revolution or out right running away rather than slavery hence most slave owner felt they were bad decision and potentially be a lost of their money. The deep south, like VA, SC, NC took bight of biafran slaves the most because they were the most brutal slave owners in the entire America so they believed they can knock out that rebellious behaviors from igbo and other bight of Biafra slaves behaviors. Unfortunately for them, despite their effort, those slaves were still rebellious.

Don't know, but I would guess that it is probably from the English. The English may have also put the extra "g" in the word Niger to make it the racial slur.
