The north is not dull!
Kwara is a Yoruba state.
Kogi is a semi Yoruba state.
This brings the northern states to 19-2 (17).
Other middle belt states express an independence of political thought.
President Jonathan lost because the SW & middle belt that supported him in 2011 were disappointed by his dismal performance and wanted him out.
The core north alone could not deliver the presidency to Buhari in 2011.
I agree. The core north alone cannot win the Presidency. The key is for us to work with the SW and get some of the NC states on board.

H/ever, some from the SS and SE just dont get it. They'd rather have an Hausa man in charge than work with Yorubas!

Yet, Yorubas are key to getting 'some' of the changes we need. Yorubas are more progressive than core northerners. Anyday.

God bless you my dear!

Yorubas virtually betrayed the north (it was the turn of the north based on zoning) in order to enable GEJ emerge both as acting president in 2010 and substantive president in 2011. At the time, SS and SE merely looked on.
What did we get in return?
Gross marginaliation.GEJ literarily worshipped the core north and SE to the detriment of the SW.

The northern Christians and middlebelters who supported GEJ in 2011 also paid dearly for it in the hands of Boko Haram and Fulani insurgents with GEJ playing politics with their lives all the way just to please the core north.

In the end, it didnt matter!

Stop being silly my friend, you are attaching too much importance to the SW in this matter. It is a fact that if the whole North works with any region in the South, they will get the presidency. The worked with the SE before and got the presidency under Shagari/Ekwueme. The Yorubas have just repeated this in 2015 so stop making it look like any particular zone is too special.

The North will always get the presidency if they can move as a block with just one region in the South.

North+SW= Presidency

North+SE= Presidency

North+SS= Presidency

Why can't you ask the SW to work with other Southerners or give a more balanced argument.

Re: Yerima Tipped To Be The Next Senate Majority Leader by zik4ever: 2:08pm On May 04, 2015
Please people, let’s hope for the best. Actually several factors were at play in the 2015 elections. I can tell you that in Benue State for instance, the votes weren’t so much about Buhari vs Jonathan but more like a revolt/mass uprising against the Governor and the PDP. My uncle got alert for his January salary last week and Benue is virtually a civil service State.
In Plateau State, the Governor really "tried" in terms of physical infrastructure like roads, but his choice of a fellow Berom tribesman as PDP Governorship candidate after ruling for 8 years amidst perception of ethnic marginalisation, was something that virtually all the other tribes teamed up against and PDP fell there like a pack of cards.
In Kaduna, it was clear that PDP would be swept aside.
I am not Yoruba but please let’s spare them. This is a tribe that still voted massively for President Jonathan even when their own son was running mate to Buhari.
For the core North to vote massively for Buhari and APC was expected. I really commend PDP for recording even 10% in some of those States. For the North Central to vote Buhari/APC should tell you volumes about their disappointment with the PDP Government.
The defeat of PDP was well earned, well deserved and too predictable. Our only prayer is that those who won should see that it was not just about them vs. Jonathan/PDP. Nigerians made a statement with this election even if as some say, those who have emerged have other agenda. We had limited choice in the circumstances. I think Buhari at his age; can decide to write his name in gold by laying a foundation for the future. I concede that there are some areas the present administration had positives which they didn’t present/package well but on the balance of scales, let’s give the new order the benefit of doubt.
Overall, one thing has been proven, no single ethnic or religious group or geo-political zone can win election all by itself. We must engage each other constructively.

With the way things are going it is looking like Nigeria belongs to the North especially now that they were able to seize power from Jonathan this year as they boasted earlier.

Imagine planning to install another Hausa/fulani as Senate majority leader to work with Buhari also from the core north.
Nigeria belonging to the north? Well courtesy of most Yoruba who do not see beyond their nose.

In 2013, Buhari repeated his 2001 drive for Nigeria as a sharia country in an interview.

In the interview, Buhari stated that any state govt can make laws and adopt sharia criminal laws.

But imagine any state House of Assembly in Yoruba land debating whether to adopt sharia laws or not; it shall be fire in that state.

These information were there, yet self-acclaimed sophisticated Yoruba made Buhari win to become president of Nigeria.

SW finally gave Nigeria to north when SW voted Buhari to become president. Next election, north can marry SS or SE or SW and win the presidency; north shall continue to win the presidency as long as it wants - until ........

You are right but only to an extent.
In the former case, the north owned the party and only brought an ibo man on board to carry the south along. It was a perfect example of Master-Slave relationship.

In the latter case, Tinubu created the APC, nurtured and funded it, and almost singlehandedly supported Buhari to become president.

That is why the north and SW are about to share the spoils equally as you can see by God's grace.
After Buhari's tenure, SW will have the presidency, God willing.
Both the north and SW are equal stakeholders in APC.

Let me assure you that it will be easier for the north to return to the PDP(where the ibos and SS will welcome them and become subservient almost immediately) or form a new party than hijack the APC from the SW. The broom is not in the APC logo for nothing. And Buhari is not a politician of the calibre of OBJ or GEJ who sought to take over the PDP on assuming office.
