Well, Oremus....if your transformation had gotten us off oil and into industrial development....perhaps young lady would have been having her baby in Nigeria...and you and I would be invited to the naming ceremony to give our blessings.

But on a more serious note...we can stop this...and it involves us Nigerians getting our state and Federal government to develop an economy based on industrial development....which will provide guaranteed JOBS...that will keep Nigerians at home...rather than risk their lives on the big seas.

Nigeria must get off oil. Oil is a curse.
Oil isn't a curse. Those who manage oil are cursed.

Okay, since Nigerians refuse to get sense, and willingly accept all lies, here's something that might work. Your Buhari, will soon be blamed for all the West Africans mascaraing as Nigerians as well as for all the deliberate Western Press misinformation out there in the Mediterranean sea. So you Buhari supporters better get on top of this lies quickly or by the time he is in power and the lies become entrenched as truth, people will say Nigerians are fleeing in droves from Nigeria to die at sea because of his economic mismanagement of Nigeria's economy.

Welcome to life by the new born and the mother took a high risk for her baby to be born in Italian water ways. Italian citizenship looms.

She was born aboard an Italian navy ship,so she is automatically an Italian citizen. As for a child born on an international flight,he/she will be a citizen of the carriers nation.

I think the baby will be given dual citizenship, Nigerian (cos Parents are Nigerian) and Italian (cos her birth was on italian territory). it happens most of the time on international flight and as a doctor i have being called upon by the flight attendants once to review a woman on board.

Right now thousands of Africans are fleeing the Hell-holes that are Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, Bukina Fasso, Congo, Guinea, Liberia, Togo, Libya, Chad. Cumulatively, they make thousands trying to cross the Mediterranean sea. We're not even mentioning the Eritreans and Somalians that alone contribute thousands more. These West Africans are given a Nigerian face by a skilful, if somewhat sinister, Western Media that often go stepping over hundreds of heads to go pick out the solitary Nigerian among them for interview for broadcast world wide.

If Nigerians think this misinformation on them is irrelevant, then they should consider if Nigerians are smarter than the Arabs. Nigerians should consider why it is that although almost as much refugees, if not more, are fleeing the wars in Syria and Iraq and crossing the med, the Media hides this fact by making the problem African centered. So although more are fleeing Arab world using Libya as transit point, the problem has been made to look African centered and although most Migrants from Africa are from elsewhere, the media is trying to make it seem Nigerian centered.

well there was a Ugandan woman in 2008 or 2009 not sure that gave birth on a flight which was in Canada's airspace and she was given Canadian citizenship... so it depends on the law of that land

funny what people conclude out of things without having any clues, the child is Nigerian still and can not be given Italian citizenship because the mother is an assyl... a child can only obtain citizenship by birth in Italy if one of the parents have Italian citizenship...

Okay, last post.

This time, to Johnathan supporters.

It is credible to suppose people in power monitor online Media. So if people who know people who might get word to president Johnathan, and if ongoing humanitarian crises in Libya and the Mediterranean is not already in consideration, shouldn't Nigeria as an emerging power aught to send envoys to Libya? Is it right that a "Nigerian" Woman should be given birth on a boat, in the sea, among strangers? Is that not undignified and an affront to Nigerian womanhood?? What of Her human-rights and that of the baby?

By all accounts, mister president, listens and cares for Nigeria. If so, in his last days, shouldn't he, as well as the good work he is doing in degrading terrorism, not send people to return Nigerians stranded in Libya and those stranded in camps on the European side of the med, back to Nigeria?
