this thread will be question and answer thread, i will alwys make time to reply questions mind you iam not too good in english.
iam not here to connect people abroad or do visa for any one because iam not in position to do that.
iam not here to ask for money or any assistance.
iam here to answer and tell my people/nairalanders any thing they want to know, from the life our people are living in the street of south africa to the top, to the secret no one will tell u about south africa to the hustling and how everything look here to different between here and nigeria to the reason why u havn't seen many of your brothers who are here for years.
all depend on what u want to hear just ask anything. this thread is like asking a nairalander or a brother how things are here before you decide to come here.
i will only answer questions i wont tell any one anything on my own.
thread OPEN!

Please set the ball rolling on your advice for the intending Nigerian emigrants abroad on things they need to know before taken the final decision to seek 'greener pasture' abroad. Please relate all your experiences particularly in S.A. and other countries (if any). Observing!

1.i will start with if you are a graduate and u want to migrate to south africa, it will be wise u learn how to do any other thing cos out of 200 people that come with their certificate only 4 may secure job with it, unless u have someone who will help you but if you dont certificate is not helping us here.
2.if u dont have any one to help you just be prepared to sleep on the street, suffer for like one year or 2 years before you will stabilize.
3.dont hope that any nigerian will help you cos majority of them even the once that have stayed up to 7 to 8 years will still want to take from u.
4.if you come here with with N100,000 it will last you highest 3 months to finish completely so how do you survive cos the least rent here is N21,000 per month and we pay monthly no one will allow you to spend one day in their flat when you dont have money

it all started when i was seeking visa, all the agents were telling me good things about south africa, no one told me the reality which is even one of the reason i created this thread to save many people from being scammed.
they just need your money.
fast forward i got visa, at the air port they will count how much u have b4 thy will stamp you, basic travelling allowance is N100,000 their about, then here in south africa b4 they will stamp you entry they will ask you what u are coming to do and where you are going to.
some of us who dnt have someone here only God knows what you will tell them.
fast forward when i got here i stayed in a hotel 3 days i asked one of the hotel attendant how i can rent a room he took me to where room to let notices are pasted cos people always move in and out here every month. we called people finally got a room for N32,000 equivalent in naira i moved in iam left with N78,000 out of the N100,000 i came with, now life started i dont know the place i dont know any one.
i moved out bought tea and bread till nxt day.

i was sleeping on bare floor, jst eating and paying rent till all my money finished and the flat owner asked me to move out, at this point i 've sold evrything i came with phone etc, i slept outside for 2 months untill i got a job to wash plate in a restaurant when i got my first pay i paid rent then back to flat again. mind u some sleep outside for close to 4 months before they come back including nigerian graduates unlike me, mine was 2 months outside, at the point of sleeping outside u will mix up with people who are addicted to drugs thats the point where some people start selling drugs or start taking it.
no one will help you including your fellow nigerian unless you are ready to push drugs for them.

these are also reasons why u see people decide to sell drugs cos thy believ that the life they are living is equal death no need to fear death sentence.

@OP
may i ask: did you expect a different life?! what did you expect exactly? did you think SA was a country where you could pluck money from the ground and get rich? and finally, is the life you live now in SA, washing plates while being surrounded by people who despise you, better than your life in 9ja?

here we cant build in their town, and we are mostly staying in town so if you have someone who has stayed here for 8 years without sending anything home dont believ he is planning to come in a big way he is frustrated in the street no matter the person's status in nigeria, cos it's imposible 2 stay that long without doing anything at home so what is the person doing with the money cos u cant build here, only 5percent can do that ( i mean making well without doing anything at home) all of us want to proove oursefs at home.

about how many years thy hv short courses for one year, 6 months etc, then engineering 4 years just the same thing like nigeria, about their fees i guess their are schools that pay more fee than others in nigeria too, and someone who graduated from University of pretoria are respected and given job more than UNISA cos it's believed they are more serious than UNISA, another reason why the money is much is because of exchange rate that N720,000 is R45,000 here.
