Are the South Africans exagerating by calling Nigerians in SA drug lords?

How lucrative is the drug and 419 business in SA?

I know two of my sec school mates back in 04 who are now in SA.What they always update on facebook is nice abs and 6packs,champagne on ice in clubs, looking fresh and flashy car.

What kind of work are these my ex school guys doing over there?
here their food and weather will make u look good if they havn't send or done anything home i can assure you, you are better than them over their pride and shame is keeping most of us from returning home, unless well conected drug lords the rest drug dealers are just suffering here just answering drug dealers their lords are using them to push it.

Interesting revelation, how about guys who marry and have a child by with a naija chick, only for the guy to abandon the babe here with the child. The least the guy will do is to ask the babe to come visiting and be sending money to her for upkeep.

Are these kind of guys married to SA chicks or what?

then where exactly do you think these xenophobic issues are worst? was it not in Johannesburg (and also Durban) that the worst of the worst happened few months ago? is J/burg safe for Africans ?! what was done to fix this lingering issue about these South Africans racists who attack and kill africans (en masse) every few yrs?

btw: you didnt answer my question:" are nigerians labelled as criminals/drug dealers or not (thanks to the little few bad apples)?
let me help that guy cus I also live in joburg. First and foremost d xenophobia attacks happened in places they call locations/townships or basically slums. Nigerians don't live in those slums no matter how koboless they r bcus that's where the worst of the worst in SA live. Some of these slums r pretty close to d highbrow areas. Zimbabweans, malawians stay in those kind of places. FYI those slums r like 5percent of joburg and these attacks on foreigners always happen in such places. Coming to d issue of nigerians and drugs, yes nigerians r seen as drug dealers but if u r not dealing on drugs then u have nothing to worry about, no one will discrimate against u. Eg, I sell cars, I go to auctions or places they sell accident damage cars, I buy one or two cars, fix them up and sell them. Sometimes in a month I sell upto 4 to 5 cars. A lot of nigerians, cameroonians r into that business too. I also do interpretation in law courts here in SA. Basically I am working for d government in a job that no south african can do. There r a lot of nigerians here doing real business, some r realtors, some r into importation, some have restaurants, some run night clubs, some have bottle shops, some r mechanics(if u r a mechanic come to SA,it pays). Bottomline is, if u r not into drugs bizness and u have ur permit, u have absolutely nothing to worry about.

from all iam seeing nigerians are not stupid to that extend the problm is thy are sending their last kobo not all tho bt 80 percent but because thy dont have money to come home and they are also considering the expectations home their wives will be acusing them of married to a south african. their is this man he was working with eagle cement in nigeria now he's a welder here his wife keep abusing him calling him names the man alwys show me sms mean while he's drinking coke and bread here. they believ we are rich here thet dont know the reality.

i was sleeping on bare floor, jst eating and paying rent till all my money finished and the flat owner asked me to move out, at this point i 've sold evrything i came with phone etc, i slept outside for 2 months untill i got a job to wash plate in a restaurant when i got my first pay i paid rent then back to flat again. mind u some sleep outside for close to 4 months before they come back including nigerian graduates unlike me, mine was 2 months outside, at the point of sleeping outside u will mix up with people who are addicted to drugs thats the point where some people start selling drugs or start taking it.
no one will help you including your fellow nigerian unless you are ready to push drugs for them.

here we cant build in their town, and we are mostly staying in town so if you have someone who has stayed here for 8 years without sending anything home dont believ he is planning to come in a big way he is frustrated in the street no matter the person's status in nigeria, cos it's imposible 2 stay that long without doing anything at home so what is the person doing with the money cos u cant build here, only 5percent can do that ( i mean making well without doing anything at home) all of us want to proove oursefs at home.

Are you seriously comparing Ferguson and co to xenophobia? For real? No doubt that police brutality to the black community is a problem. But let's come of it, the police are not going around looking for black people to harass, beat up and kill nor are the amount of blacks killed or physically harmed as high as the amount of foreigners killed in SA in just one week. South Africans or rather Zulus are deliberately seeking foreigners out. We've watched videos of them physically killing many foreigners the most inhumane way possible without any kind of remorse whatsoever. We've heard and seen that some of their police supports the act and actually look the other way or laughing when they witness such. Let's come off and embrace the truth. What SA are doing is not in comparison to what's happening in USA or any other western or even African nation, excluding Nigeria. Lets stop all this comparison to west just because SA is an African nation. Let's tell ourselves the truth. The dude life is in danger whether we, himself included, like to accept it or not. This is not the first time SA went on a xenophobic killing spree and I highly doubt this will be the last. It's best for other Africans to leave that nation for them. Even if the guy does not want to return back to Nigeria, I don't blame him, I don't want to either but there are several African nations he can go and rebuild without looking over his shoulder everyday if this is today they will come for him just because he's a foreigner. If he was in middle east, would you be comparing what is happening to west? No. Rather you'll be asking the guy wtf is he doing in a terrorist infested region or wondering if he's safe with the increasing number of ISIS activity happening over there.
