I am writing this because it happened right in my eyes! A colleague of mine Ifeoma Nwachukwu saw a police officer collecting bribe from a road users this morning at Okota about 6:29am.. Ifeoma took a photo of this act with her phone and immediately this police man by name 'Chukwu Nge' forcefully dragged the phone off her hand injuring her in the process and another police from the driver said dragged her brother who was driving by the neck too so they dnt drive off. After succeeding to do this, he deleted the picture and I came down from my car to plead with the policeman as he was becoming violent.. This policeman immediately called his squad and spoke in Yoruba "We need the van and two policemen Asap as there are men here who are dragging our guns and assaulting men in uniform" i was shocked and i asked the police why he lied and he was unapologetic! As I speak they have taken Ifeoma and her brothers to Isolo police station in Okota Lagos and they have charged them to Okota court on this yellowed charges! but the point here is far clear, fine its not a good act by both of them especially the Abib boy, but taking him to court to make him ggo to jail is not a better way of resolving such a clear case,
1. since the girl in question has identify Abib as her boy friend ans that they have been doing it for a long period of time, See, every single girl or lady will always tll u that she did it only once or twice, i have never seen a girl that will confess and tell u that they have been doping it every day or maybe once a week, the only thing u will hear is that she did it once or maximum of 2 times
2. She further explain that she has been dating him for God knows, and have been going out with the poor boy, and there has never been a day he raped her, which sound more like a relationship, meaning, no rape, no harassment, no deception, its just pure love affair and sex attached.
3. Part of the laws of Nigeria allow a 13 year old girl to marry (in samfara State, to be precised ) , so where on earth is this boy wrong?, he didnt lie not having affair with the girl, but pls do remember that he can lie and since there is no evidence that he slept with the girl, no eye witness and no rape was charged, he must be freed, but warned.
Nigeria Police and the court knows the truth but will hide behind the bride that they collect from the parent of the girl that are saying "he must go to jail" i promise u all, this boy will not go to jail and with the publicity of this case, the magistrate court will not want to do otherwise but give good judgement, lets wait and seee
