You can't be doing the same thing over and over and again with no results , that's madness - you've got to access your platform, weigh it and certify your self .
Keep it to the mind even as it is very hard to keep and unleash when the time is right.

Don't you ever start anything you have no absolute idea on how to end it and be in charge of your own destiny.

Great wisdom...both for this and for every other thing...these words hold so true...thanks for being alert...

1. Why can't we have new leaders in this country?
2. Why can't we have fiscal federalism?
3. Why can't this country be regionalized?
4. Where do you see yourself in this country tomorrow?

Whatever worth doing well started somewhere maybe as whining to some folks then too cheesy

1.
GEJ was a new leader, wasn't he? What did we gain from him? Nothing! You speak as if he was booted out of office after 8months; he had 6yrs to restructure the country!

2. 3.
Like I said in 1 above, GEJ had 6yrs to implement all that you asked: what did he do with his 6yrs in office? The last time I checked, aboki was not the governor of Abia state for the past 8yrs; why do you think that regionalism will favor the masses? Its the same corrupt TA Orjis that will embezzle the money.

Why didn't this your article suffice during GEJ tenure? All you hypocrites crying foul right now are doing so because power has returned to the north. You didn't cry foul all 6 dark yrs GEJ made us pass through.

What exactly do you want from the North? We should kill ourselves to reduce our population or we give you resource control and starve on top of boundless undeveloped mineral resources? We have all suffered a destiny-bending military rule, the soldiers never cared if they were southerners or northerners. General Buhari's insistence and commitment to diversification of the economy is not a coincidence, the North is tired of you screaming cry-babies as well.

Bottom line: Be patient, you will get your resource control on our terms, but until then, the North will naturally continue to have the upper hand.

I guess I'm nairaland's latest inductee!!! Yayyyy!!!! But what actually spurred me in joining this forum is basically the post-elections brouhaha coming from some people. I have actually bn just a passive reader/observer on here for lyk 2 years now!
Like maziomenuko has rightly and objectively said: why didnt all these federalism, restructuring n blah blah blabble talk surface at d inception of GEJ's regime What r we even restructuring into Som pple want regionalism, which is a past situation in our country but dont want Buhari who is past leader!

Let me say the minds of many Nigerians like me: GEJ's loss wasnt as a result of any conspiracy cos nobody cajoled me into voting for anyone likewise many of the 15million that voted GMB! I do not need to reiterate y GEJ lost!

Even if the devil had contested against GEJ, d devil wld still av won!!!
Nigerians r very resilient and reserved but they see things and they now undstand that they hold immense power!

If u mess up, u pack up!!!

Did the call for restructuring start today?...No
Was it none existent during Jonathan tenure?...No
What did he do about?...Confab was to address this agitation...
What such achieved?... Yes..some quasi-restructuring was agreed upon in the final report which is reason why some who benefit from present scenario want him out...
Why continual agitation? because buhari and APC didn't support confab report implementation which would allow for some restructuring hence would likely allow the report to gather dust...thanks

BTW I am free to write my article any day I deem fit...Jonathan guaranteed me my freedom before and after speech...will buhari and APC do same?...,tomorrow will tell...go write yours...dalu

That moment when "mentioned" button disappears from some people's NL display grin grin grin

You guys are really confused to decide what you want or need. One moment you prefer we don't respond to his threads whenever we choose to burst his bubbles; another moment you keep mentioning our monikers to come respond! In your own world, you'd prefer to be the umpire in a match you're involved. What a life!

Fyi, the question of the day is not wether Abacha looted or not. We know he did and we know GMB was wrong for his statement.

Now tell me, between GMB's statement and GEJ's inaction (or the shaddy deals with Mohammed Abacha), which should be of greater concern?

Like it or not, Jonathan remains the most corrupt, most incompetent and most clueless president Nigeria has ever known and no amount of threads by Mr. Hurting Protection on NL can erase that unenviable record of the man from Otuoke.

GMB's presidency on the other hand cannot be judged by any of his deeds or statements prior to him assuming the mantle of leadership for such were meant for campaign period which he has already scaled through.

So, keep filing your knives till he starts his regime. Or alternatively, activate your plan for secession at the earliest.

Any close observer of the polity post-election would have seen more the actual reason for "get Jonathan out of the way election". From the comments of Mohammed, Shamshudeen to that of Sen. Dansadau etc and people will still come here to tell me about how Jonathan was voted out due to non-performance. Since when did we become so averse to non-performing leaders of which Jonathan doesn't fit the list. Some lords felt that Jonathan was fast making them to lose relevance hence they needed to reinvent themselves politically coupled with oil block licencing cum population census of 2016. To this a powerful propaganda machinery was needed to brainwash the smart by half majority. It's a truism that outside Jonathan, most of these men has been part of Nigeria misrule since 1978 till date. A journey through our history shows a country held hostage by its own and forced to be moving in circles. Why can't there be new leaders? Why can't we have true fiscal federalism? Why can't we regionalize this country? Why is the burden of ONE Nigeria always on the South?

Nzeogwu & co believed due to post election crisis in SW, that they can rescue ONE Nigeria, but they plunged the eastern part into paying 'debts' unending.

Ironsi believed in ONE Nigeria, and his blood was used to wash the streets.

Isaac Boro screamed and cried for same injustice but was muscled out.

Saro Wiwa came to the stage but his blood was used to entertain the oligarchs.

Ojukwu decided to challenge the anomaly engendered by barefaced rape of our sanctity to life and association but was confronted with more blood on our streets and made a fugitive in his supposed fatherland.

Yes, subsequently Easterners were subjected to the background after the gift of 20pounds as punishment for "no victor; no vanquished". Some of their people were used as baits to whittle down the genuine demands and general wellbeing of majority by giving them crumbs called political appointments. While NigerDeltans were brainwashed through series of well oiled propaganda to see the Igbos as their enemies and root cause of their problem. While the alien term SS came into being to copiously highlight the divide always.

SouthWest were made heroes of their fellow southern brothers woes; but unfortunately were eaten by same tiger they fed. Awolowo was stampeded even to death. And Abiola who had national appeal was not allowed to be. Finally, he became a story and a sentence in the past amidst laughter from the lords of Nigeria.

Obasanjo thrived with the hides and shadow of late Shehu Yar'adua(progenitor of the powerful Kaduna mafia). He is a cat with nine lives. He had his bread buttered by the gods but choose to dine with devil and became lord of demons. Blood of the innocents especially from the creeks cries around him for vengeance.

And now, came Jonathan not an Igbo but from a background feeling the pangs of pain and marginalization like Igbo. He gave so much to pacify these internal colonialists and oligarchs at the expense of developing his region but was rejected, framed as corrupt notwithstanding the reputable; "Transparency International" verdict vindicating him. He was humiliated out of office. We all know our position back in the years.

In all, Jonathan didn't just lose. We lost too. It may not be easy to see any Southerner rise to that post in the near future without some radical breakthrough. Forget
the noise and empty rhetorics of people like Rochas Okorocha and co. Boys talk; men act.

The North by the smart machinery instituted by Prof. Attahiru Jega would always determine and decide who rules Nigeria notwithstanding the voting pattern down South. Irrespective of South's discontent with government in power; unless North decide otherwise the government MUST persist.

What slavery is more than this?...Read the dailies and cry for the future because these people we term "aabookiii" ruled all my ancestry, my grandfather, my father and now myself, with the country bastardized and in shambles. When will it all end with all the sycophants, and many smart by half people down South?

Is it too much to ask if Nigeria is reduced to regions with a weak central government?

The cries and shrills of Elder Godsday Orubebe in that INEC hall echoes in my heart...

You shot yourself on the foot

Whynotthetruth:

Yes...South has ruled but like the original post stated, Obj was more of an offshoot of the oligarchs... if you know how they have to set aside all rules to get him to become the flag bearer as against Ekwueme who would have won in that Joe convention... Obj was part of them and cares less about masses insofar he's need and order are met...

That obj is a stooge of the north is just blind conjecture, unsupported by any known facts. Obj was an independent one man wrecking ball who cowered the north and rode roughshod over everyone. He was so anti north that a band of northern governors came together and implored Atiku to contest against OBJ in the interest of the north, hence the rather famous "OBJ kneeling to beg Atiku" legend circa 2003.

Also let me address a poignant issue: the idea of "northern oligarchs" is a myth.

The elites of the north post-military rule are individualistic and self-centered. Their allegiance is neither to the north nor to nigeria, being culturally unbound from any semblance of communal loyalty.

Despite the paranoia endemic in the south about a politically monolithic north, no doubt propagated by xenophobes, the north remains a patchwork of selfish interests by the elite, and religious convictions by the masses. This disconnect allowed the northern elite to stand by GEJ, in spite of the overwhelming disenchantment in the north of the GEJ government (spawned by his handling of boki haram, mostly)

No one in the north has the authority nor the recognition to shape public empathy and political leanings, not the IBBs, the Atikus, the Abubakars, the emirs, the governors. They represent an abhorent patron system that serves only their own pocket.

You might say buhari is influential, and I'd agree. But then his popularity began in 2011 when boko haram was just starting its bloody campaign. In 2003 and 2007, no one really cared much for buhari.
