I have lived in SA for years now and I have never had to queue to buy fuel. I drive in, tell dem the kind of fuel I want and the amount, I drive off. I don't know why nigeria is in such a sorry state.
You didn't tell whether fuel is subsidized in SA.

Do their citizens feel 'entitled' to 'free' fuel?

The TRUTH IS BITTER!! Until we put love of country above 'love of exploitation of anyone' - we will continue to be insulted in this manner. No matter how much how blood boils, if we dont act and throw this curses back in their faces - then we have no complaint.

someone told me that the best way to be a rich man is to copy a rich man. If it took a rich man 20years to get to where he is, by just copying him, it may take you 2years because he has already created that framework that you dont need to crack you brain anymore and this is what has been helping China all these years. There is simply no excuse for Africa!
you made a good point here.

So all the stereotypes they are applying to you are true? how daft and self hating are you? You're actually glorifying comments from some idiots on Yahoo News ?! the center of racists and right wingers :/
Keep race aside. Are you saying there is no truth in those words? What's the point denying when the truth is obvious? The first step to progress is recognizing there is actually a problem.

Please apply that to your mother and your family. Leave the rest of us out of your inferiority. Stup.id dummy. Were you not already feeling inferior before you read that garbage? Nasty foool. Instead of you to contribute to African development as best you can you come online to agree with ignorant western racists in proclaiming your own inferiority. Waste of space.
The truth is bitter. Except your likes accept it, that something is wrong with us as a people then we are going no where. You see your self calling the westerner racist when they are telling the truth about yourself that you refuse to accept. Pride, that is your problem. Remember pride come before a fall. Everything you are using today they invented it and yet you call them ignorant. Your life would have been miserable without them. Come out and show us that you are not the most ignorant people by providing quality life for your people.

Very big shame on us honestly.

This is the ridicule successive governments have brought us under. But Jonathan's government wore our pathetic situation its Royal Crown. Imaging what truckload of mess he's living behind, and to make matters worse, he carries on like he's tone deaf and blind. And that is the man Nigerians call a Hero and deserves a Nobel Prize!!

Indeed we deserve all the jeers and scorn from these guys. I can hardly blame them.
all this is making me aspire to become the president, so I can show this fools how to rule properly. each day that passes with me reading this and seeing that I feel so enraged, the time our old fathers ruled is over. May God help me I become a financial giant within this four years, I context for presidency, and ensure in my first year of. assuming office Nigeria can boast of a good home working refinery!!

Are they all clean in their countries?the woman Obasanjo sacked for corruption and money laundering is white, what about EMRON that collapsed in the US due to massive fraud and corruption?, what about the ponzi scheme in the US?the problems in Africa is that of supporting evil over good, misinterpretation of good to call it evil, defending satanic behaviors in the name of tribe and cultures.that's all
I get what you mean:
When poor men are fighting, we call them hooligans.

When rich men fight, we say they are angry/displeased.

OTOH, most of those comments they said about our governance and it's follower-ship, is just the truth.

How does one explain a president feeding with 3 million Naira/day in a country where the average man 'lives' on less than $5/day (and I am being generous)?

How does one explain the petroleum ministry paying N10b for flights, or paying trillions on exportation/importation of fuel it produces while all it needs is N99b for all it's refineries to be functioning at 90%+?

Or the PAF having 10 jets, while the country has no national airline.

And some of us celebrate them, while claiming we are the smartest set of people ever lived since Einstein.

NO! and I still insist that its not this type of hell. What they went through was more of economical hardship rather than infrastructural hardships. Light, good roads, basic amenities are infrastructural and its sad to note that even in this modern age, infrastructural advancements is what Africa is still suffering mostly from. Don't compare the times of their sufferings to our modern times because this was more than 400-500years ago and even at this time they were technologically advanced. because there are many edifice of over 500 years old that still stands today and you would be surprised that it would still go for more years except it has to be demolished. This sh.it is easy. because they whites have made it easy for us, we dont need to crack our brains anymore. Just mere copying their stuffs and paying for them is okay. someone told me that the best way to be a rich man is to copy a rich man. If it took a rich man 20years to get to where he is, by just copying him, it may take you 2years because he has already created that framework that you dont need to crack you brain anymore and this is what has been helping China all these years. You are very uninformed. Less than 100 years ago (not '500 years ago') people slept 20 to a room in Victorian London, Manchester, Leeds, etc. Disease was rife. Corruption was on a massive scale as the elite built Buckingham palace, Wembley etc, while people starved to death. Old people died of cold in their rooms and their corpses were left to rot. Children were used as slaves. Go and read Charles Dickens. So all countries went through hell before they became developed. Do not let these dumb white, pampered kids who barely know their own history, make you feel inferior.

Also, Africa is making steady economic progress. The middle class is expanding rapidly and economic growth is the fastest it has been in the last 150 years. So be patient.

But truth be told, Yoruba is getting frenzy, freezing and melting with the level the Yoruba has taken anti-Igbo campaigns.

Yoruba does not hate Igbo, in fact the two groups intermarry and breed like dogs; but Yoruba is mortality afraid of the possibility of Igbo taking over entire Lagos.

But Igbos have invested in Lagos such that many of the investors would not like to leave Lagos unless Nigeria splits.

But Yoruba gets chilled in the blood to hear talk of splitting Nigeria, because Yoruba would not like to miss oil revenues from the Niger delta region if Nigeria splits.

They are so right; nothing works in Africa; nonsense set of leaders; there is nothing that will make Africa better if our leaders continue like this; not be swear but na true
Can we put all the blame on the leaders? After all, the leaders didn't come from outer space. People rise from the general populace to attain and rise to positions of leadership. The leaders are therefore a reflection of the general public. There is a saying "that the people get the government they deserve". Nigeria is a glaring example.

Lets be honest, a great number of everyday Nigerians indulge in one kind of negative behaviour/acts or the other, ranging from the mild, such as jumping queues, profiteering/over invoicing, flouting rules/regulations, cronyism (man know man, paddy-paddy), nepotism (family and relatives given preference instead of ability/performance being the yardstick) to the more severe such as corruption, fraud etc.

Indeed we deserve a lot more,
I don't even blame the politicians as far as I'm concerned all around the world as long as you're a politician, you are a liar and a thief

Rather I blame we the masses afterall na we dey follow them blindly
Do we even need the government?
- do we need them to provide jobs when NLC can combine minds and resources to create extra jobs and union credit for all workers or even bully corporations into creating more slots in their companies?
-do we need them to provide constant electricity when we can channel all the tithe offerings for church into R & D for cleaner and more constant electricity?
-do we need them to provide security for us when we can incorporate our local vigilantes and finance them to cater for our safety?
-even the fuel crisis do we need government? When we can join NUPENG or whoever can knock heads together to build refineries or do whatever needs to be done
Nigeria has a population of over 170million people if na ten naira we all donate that is N1.7bn already tell me we can't achieve what ever we want , if we unite who be d 1% rich dude that can stop us?
If government wants to sleep no problem we will do their work for them make our turnover and give them the change to fight over
Nigeria is not america
Nigeria is a peculiar nation
So peculiar solutions for peculiar problems that's what will take this nation forward

SHameful but true, no black country have ever been governed by black people and things were ever run in a civilised way and the people lives good... take S.A as an example, they run out the white from government and in less than ten years the country became a sorry state and went into chaos.... are we black people cursed or are we a curse to ourself? Everybody is more concerned about their personal interest and nobody cares about the welfare of the general... shame... shame... shame on us all black men... we are always the first to complain of being discriminated in white countries, but in our countries we live like street dogs and feed from the ground to mouth.... shame
That's not true, South Africa is a first world country. There are many decently run countries on the continent, Namibia, bostwana, cape verde, etc.

Look at how evn Ghana, Niger is using us as an example of a country that has come to accept ds misfortune as its destiny n folks like u wl come here n sing praises to high of ds inept governmnt who hasnt evn shown simple decorum to evn put out a statement on this.

I guess ur Hero doesnt give a damn n we cnt watch him leave.

Just reading through the replies here and its very funny. So the best reply to this is to insult ourselves.lolz. Rather than sit down, plan and try to be different. That's what makes the developed societies different. Try to be different. If u put 5000 orange ball in a basket, would it look attractive to u? Put several colors, make it colorful. My point is every Nigerian wants to be a programmer or own the latest phone without even creating jobs out of what we have. Thats what caused the outrage from them. A forum like this should be used to think about where we r coming from, where we r,where we r going to n what we have.

What do those countries have in common?
small size in land mass and population makes for less complicated governance.
Not taking away from them though, which is why division may be best for Nigeria.
