Changed? Yes, but not so much in a different direction as deepened and widened. So much has come together recently. It all ties up. There is more truth in conventional religion and even myths and legends than the average skeptic will ever suspect, know or understand.

But of course, there are truths in conventional religions, legends and myths, the ancient ones.

It is also true that much of those truths have been grossly misunderstood, deliberately obfuscated, and even hidden from public knowledge by social engineers vying for supremacy during in the previous eras.

To say that our contemporary religions, or religious ideas of this era contain truths is misleading, and is similar to saying that a heavily adulterated wine still retains the quality of the original.

True

To say that our contemporary religions, or religious ideas of this era contain truths is misleading, and is similar to saying that a heavily adulterated wine still retains the quality of the original.
But they do.

And very profound ones at that.
In many cases, they have simply been deliberately 'dumbed down' into a consumable story.

I agree with this. There is some truth in many religions.
