The meaning of "public" in the procedure for asset declaration is not going on facebook to make announcement that have this and that. It is in following the laid down procedure. U apply for and fill the asset declaration form with proof and submit same to CCB. The CCB will conduct searches and assessment (valuation). If they discover any discrepancy, they report to the Code of Conduct Tribunal which has the full powers of a Court of law. But if not, it is published in the official gazzet and thatmakes it public. The process takes not less than 30days. Any incorrect information in your asset declaration attracts 21 years imprisonment Without an option of fine.

1. (1) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, every public officer shall within three months after the coming into force of this Code of Conduct or immediately after taking office and thereafter -

(a) at the end of every four years; and

(b) at the end of his term of office, submit to the Code of Conduct Bureau a written declaration of all his properties, assets, and liabilities and those of his unmarried children under the age of eighteen years.

(2) Any statement in such declaration that is found to be false by any authority or person authorised in that behalf to verify it shall be deemed to be a breach of this Code.

(3) Any property or assets acquired by a public officer after any declaration required under this Constitution and which is not fairly attributable to income, gift, or loan approved by this Code shall be deemed to have been acquired in breach of this Code unless the contrary is proved.

12. Any allegation that a public officer has committed a breach of or has not complied with the provisions of this Code shall be made to the Code of Conduct Bureau.

13. A public officer who does any act prohibited by this Code through a nominee, trustee, or other agent shall be deemed ipso facto to have committed a breach of this Code.

BUHARI AND HIS VICE HAVE SUBMITTED THEIR FORMS AND THE CODE OF CONDUCT BUREAU WILL DO THE NEEDFUL. THEREFORE, CRITICS MUST EXCERCISE PATIENCE.

@OP what you penned(typed) is what EVERY officials have been doing since 1999 including PGEJ. Public declaration of asset is not the same with CCB Asset declaration(which is mandatory).

Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan has declared his assets and has no case to answer, Dr Sam Saba, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), has said.

"As far as we are concerned, Mr President has declared his assets, though not publicly. There is no law that says that you should declare your assets publicly; it simply states that you should declare your assets.

“What is important is that he has declared his assets and when we go through his form and we discover any area that is questionable, then we will take him to court,” he said.
