Aystarz:

This is the senior world cup not a female youth championship. We've got nothing on any of those three teams u just mentioned. They are some of the world super powers in women's football and we are yet to even make a quarter final appearance in any worldcup since our debut over a decade ago. Bros, out with the realist side of u, biko, we are CONDEMNED to tread carefully against those teams. We need all the luck in the world to make it out of that group!

Hello Sir... You're rite abt only one thing. WE ARE IN THE TOUGHEST GROUP!!! And so what??!! Should we withdraw our participation and just quit? What abt the place of surprises, shocks, etc in soccer? This Falcons team is unique and can hold their own bro. Besides, in Oshoala, they have a future fifa Ballon d'or winner.

Also, in U.S. 99, an Akide-inspired super falcons made it to the quarter finals where they played the most classic game ever watched in Fifa WWC history against Brazil. So u're wrong about our not ever making it to the quarter finals. This year's tournament will feature 24 teams unlike 16 4m previous editions... So the road to another quarter final or possibly the final itself just got longer but NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Anoda correction I wanna make is dis. We made our debut in 1991 in China PR... And that's over 2 decades ago(24yrs to be exact).

Finally, we played a goalless draw against WORLD NO.8, CANADA (complete wit Christine Sinclair. Remember her from canada 2002 fifa u-20 women's world cup?) and we were the dominant team... We were kinda unfortunate not to hv scored (THIS HAD BEEN THE BANE OF WHY OUR GIRLS DONT DOMINATE AT THE SENIOR LEVEL GLOBALLY... WE usually dominate games but lose out due to a 'poor' chances created/goals converted ratio. We create chances but do not convert. Well, hopefully, Oparanozie, Ordega, Oshoala et al get it 'super' right in Canada... I beliv they will). And the game was played rite in their(canada's) backyard!!! Can u beat dat?

Pls, dont write off This Super Falcons coz they are indeed 'SUPER'... They have what it takes (the world and fifa.com may not have taken notice but they've been given a hint in Oshoala) to cause quite a stir at the World Cup...

Just for the record,it was the flying eagles that got whupped this morning, not the falcons.. tongue

So I nor understand why this thread come be like say person die .. shocked

Lots of lessons to be learnt from the flying eagles,I think Okon should have learnt a thing or two.

Personally,I think the major lesson is that on the big stage, you can never trade talent for tactics.

Talent will only take you so far,but sound tactics will take you all the way.Having talented players in a team is good, but at this level of competition..make sure your team is tactically sound.

The forwards are the cutest. cool
But it seems the height measurement of the team was botched; Onome and Ohale are almost the same height.

Spot on with your comment!
The lack of a capable DM cost the Flying Eagles the game. How on Earth Manu maintained the same formation they out the game still boggles my mind.

Like I've said earlier, the Super Falcons need not respect the other teams but Okon should use the 4-4-2 formation against the really big teams (Sweden, USA, Germany etc) at the World Cup. There is no need to try to score 3 goals inside the first 6 mins against Sweden.
Re: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by dodobytes: 4:32pm On Jun 01, 2015
We really need tactically sound indigenous coaches on this side of the divide,it was clear we needed an anchor man in that game to do the dirty business for us.But our coach was more interested in outscoring the Brazilians.

The talents in our team gave us a false sense of superiority, but tactics always overrides individual talents when the chips r down.

Awoniyi was down on confidence..even if he had an open net,he would have flunked it.Pull him out ASAP...push Success up front and bring in that dude dat won d title with his Belgian club,to operate in the vacant position.

Enough of flying eagles...some matches should be approached cautiously, its not FEAR,its. RESPECT.If u fail to respect ur opposition u will b punished.Respect entails acknowledging their strenghts first, then u can think of a way to stop them from playing to full strenght.

As we prepare to take on Sweden,we must respect the opposition,we must be tactical and flexible.Approach the game cautiously and allow the game settle, then we can adopt tactics that counters theirs right there on the field of play.

Gone are the days where u draw up a game plan n stick to it for 90mins..as the opposition changes their gameplan...u had better not b caught napping.Make early subs if you see your game plan is failing...shore up ur defence n cut ur losses if you notice its all over.

Live to fight another day,as long as it guarantees your stay in the tournament..

In fact, Ohale might be taller than Ebi. The same thing applies to Oshoala who is list at 169cm when in fact she is 181cm or more. In addition, Ini Umotong is equally taller than her listed height.
