elampiro:I'll agree if you're implying the standard steadily declined & was heavily declining in the last 2-3 years of SAF reign, even tho he managed to coin out some period of magic. |

Debroslink:LVG's brand of football is made for european games. we would get found out in the KO stage though but the group games would be too easy. we need an upgrade - we are a money making machine now. mediocre players should be a thing of the past. we should start signing the cream players. |

SailorXY:Easy Bro, actually, I have a soft spot for United. You guys used to be a grade A team in Europe alongside Barca, Madrid and Bayern. I hope United gets to that level sooner. |

elampiro:you haven't answered my question. And even if (2) were true, how did a lazy team beat chelsea, city and liverpool AWAY before December in 2012/13? forget your theory of slim wins. |

SailorXY:Fergie in his last season won the league by 13 points. if Fergie hadn't spoiled the title atmosphere by announcing his retirement 48hrs after winning that title, we could have broken the points tally record and the 13 points margin could have been more. we had beaten some teams away that we previously had problems with at their grounds. the previous season we lost the title on goal difference that does not connote any drop in standards. I dont see any drop in standards. evra's claims that training at juventus was harder does NOT constitute enough grounds for elampiro's claims. if one or two were responsible for introducing laziness in the latter part of fergie's era, how then did fergie warn moyes against the entire crew's dismissal? When Moyes eventually went ahead to sack everyone, how come results didn't improve? |

elampiro:hernandez was looking to be picked up on a permanent basis by Real. Hernandez face has nothing to do with anything. He has always had the quickness. he was always being brought in as a sub. Fergie tried to use him as an impact sub in the ole solksjaer mode but he got tired of that role. are you also implying that Real are using drill style as well? bro drop this argument. you don't have enough evidence to reach the conclusion you are standing upon |

StarBoard:We were just lucky to have gotten the wins over Chelsea and City. We were completely dominated, even when Chelsea were playing with less men, they looked more dangerous. We were second to Chelsea and City in SAF last two seasons. At Old Trafford we lost to both teams. |

StarBoard:I think it was Carrick or Rooney who gave an interview recently that SAF was not directly involved in teams physical training. He said Gaal is so much involved personally in training. I read it that SAF delegated his trainings and gave free hand. It's possible therefore that there has been a drop in standard with change of personnel handling the first team training. |

Wayne Rooney MOANS about Louis Van Gaal's 'tough' training methods at Manchester United WAYNE ROONEY has admitted the Manchester United squad found it “tough” to get used to Louis Van Gaal’s demanding training methods. By Richard Tanner PUBLISHED: 20:26, Tue, May 19, 2015 | UPDATED: 20:51, Tue, May 19, 2015 Asked how he has found Van Gaal, Rooney said: “Tough! It was a different way of working to what we are used to but I think the players have embraced that. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/578435/Wayne-Rooney-Louis-Van-Gaal-Man-Utd |

I was trying to retrieve where one of our players said SAF delegated his trainings and gave a free hand but Gaal does it himself. But I am yet to find it. It's one of our old players that gave that interview, one of Rooney or Smalling or Carrick or Jones. |

elampiro:Fergie was always present during trainings. he may not have coordinated them but he oversaw them. I do not want to believe Fergie would tolerate laziness by any standards. Fergie is known to drop or even sell players based on his percieved view of their commitment to the club in terms of their desire and ambition. how then would someone who is known for that during his entire career tolerate a dip in standards? the free hands he gave were to his assistants. |

elampiro:we could afford to lose to City at oldvtrafford because before kick off we were 12 clear with about 7 games to go. we lost to chelsea at home after the league had been sewn up and fergie was in retirement mode. trust me if Fergie needed a result against any of the two sides at OT he would get them. Furthermore we won the league in 2012/13,Fergies last season with United. 2011/12 we finished second on goal difference behind City. 2009/10 we finished behind Chelsea by just a point. check your facts on the emboldened. BOTTOMLINE we beat both chelsea and city AWAY in his last season and won the league with nearly a month to go before seasons ending.Add Liverpool to that list and you realize that that side was hardly lazy. 3 points is what matters inbthe end. you should know by now that there are no prizes for playing good football. |

StarBoard:When City beat us 6-1 at Old Trafford, Fergie did not need a result? From 2011/2012 season, we were being dominated by City and Chelsea in play. We we got results against them, it was just luck. Gaal has changed ever thing back to the way it used to be. We could say this time, Chelsea were the lucky team. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 11:58am On Jun 07, 2015 |
elampiro:10th game of the season and Fergie needs a result? please you are just typing. I wrote that post in the context of winning the title as regards the closing fixtures in 2012/13.if you dont get the point then there is no need to extend the argument. You still are yet to convince me how our side was in decline during Fergie s final seasons despite having backroom staff that encouraged laziness. 2011/12 vs Chelsea we scored 6 goals over two ties. how is that luck? I dont have coogar's type of patience or time to be drawing out arguments for the sake of it. please prove how laziness on the part of Fergies backroom staff in his last seasons made us less succesful. No need for gerrymandering and roundabouting abeg. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 12:00pm On Jun 07, 2015 |
StarBoard:Exactly. He gave the assistance free hands to coordinate physical training of the first team. May be they messed it up. The players fitness dropped over time without anyone realizing it. Before 2011/12 season, middle table teams just come to Old Trafford to surrender. Just to mark the register. Their attempts at goals were few. By 2012/2013, even though we won the league easily at the end, we were not comfortably dominating games at Old Trafford. Small teams felt they could threaten us and get something out. Some even took the lead against us. The technicality was there but we could not match the fitness and quickness of such teams like Everton, Tottenham, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle. Remember, Fergie was already old, the tendency to leave out so much for the assistant can not be ruled out for an old man. |

elampiro:copy and paste in effect but I digress. still waiting for the answer to my question: how did a lazy weak team win the league by 13 points in 2013? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 12:07pm On Jun 07, 2015 |
StarBoard:We may have been successful in our own assessment, but the question remains. Why did all our players all drop in performance drastically, all at once? Evra was able to come alive probably because he went to were they could revived his weak muscles. Can you compare our results of 2011/2012 to 2012/2013? In 2011/2012 we were still winning 4-0, 5-0 at away. In 2012/2013, we were struggling to come back to win games at OT. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 12:11pm On Jun 07, 2015 |
StarBoard:You question doesn't address anything. The fact remains that we are changing 90% of our players. Is that not to tell something was wrong in the management of the players? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by tess1(m): 12:13pm On Jun 07, 2015 |
Different coaches with different training system/methods. As far as i understand, no coach will ever drop his training standard because that is a recipe for failure. So also, no coach will condone laziness by any of his players. Why will a coach change training system/methods that is giving him results? There can only be modifications here and there. It is only normal for a new coach to change what he met at a club if it doesn't align with his own training methods and that doesn't mean the previous coach's method was not up to standard. Winning some games by 1 goal margin doesn't mean the team was lazy. Man Utd are used to winning that way. What about Chelsea winning this season with about eleven games with one goal margin? Does that mean they too are lazy? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 12:22pm On Jun 07, 2015 |
tess1:We had a change of hands in the assistant coach. So the style and system would automatically change. The result might be that the players muscles will be getting weak year in year out if the training became too soft. I wouldnt also know if there were other changes in medical team as to affect players fitness when coming out of injuries. In 2007/8 we won many games 1-0, 2-1. But we dominated those games such that the oppositions only played to reduce the goals they came to concede. Most times we went in front first. This is different from when a middle table team dominate us and we only got away with our superior ability to create a clear cut chance or superiority in finishing a chance. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 12:27pm On Jun 07, 2015 |
elampiro:We've had 3 managers since Fergie left. Isnt it obvious that players come and go but the club remains? How many players did Jose Mourinho meet from his first stint when he returned to the club? you claimed Juventus got to the final of the ucl by training very hard. (I dont know of any club in Europe that has soft training sessions) and wrote us off by proclaiming us lazy. if you cannot answer why a club won the league easily despite your assertion that they were being pampered and spoiled then you have nothing to say im sorry. |

StarBoard:Four years after Mourniho left, Lampard, Terry, Mikel, Ashley Cole, Drogba, Maluoda, were beating all the teams in Europe and won the Champions league. Two years after SAF left, all our players are going into early retirement. Many can't smell first team football in Man United. Abeg, how else can one be lazy? Very clear. Happy Sunday. |
