President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Munich, Germany on Sunday, 7 June, armed with the “wish list” of Nigeria in line with the demand of the Group of Seven (G7) industrialized countries.

The G7 had earlier requested the then President-elect to prepare a shopping list and come with it for their consideration in what is seen as an excellent goodwill gesture towards the new leader and the country.

The Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) to the President, Malam Garba Shehu in a statement from Munich on Sunday said top on the list of the requests President Buhari will tender before the G7 leaders is on the problem of security. “We have a problem which they know,” said President Buhari.

The President said he has used every opportunity at his disposal ahead of this meeting to discuss the country’s needs with specific reference to terrorism and development needs at person-to-person meetings and phone conversations with some of these leaders.

“These development issues, many and varied as they are, touch on the economy, combating corruption, increased foreign direct investment, FDI; power and energy, infrastructure, environment, enhanced transparency in elections and good governance.”

President Buhari announced that the leaders of the industrialized nations have shown a preparedness to work with Nigeria to help the country out of her problems.

President Buhari will hold meetings on the sidelines with the host, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the French President, Francois Hollande, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the World Bank President Dr. Jim Yong Kim.

I don't think Buhari understand what he's up to. The above listed "wishes" are the primary responsibility of government and not foreigners. Curbing corruption is Buhari's job. Increased FDI will only happen if there is conducive sociopolitical and economic environment. Infrastructure, power etc are Buhari's responsibility. Buhari better return to Nigeria if he has no concrete request to make.

I see a lot of hope in the direction to which this administration is drifting. Its cooperation with the world powers MUST be based on mutual benefits as obtainable in typical bilateral relations and not what it was in the immediate past where our foreign partners undercut us in every conceivable way whenever they engage us.

It is instructive to note that there's been a paradigm shift in the perception of world leaders regarding the country since the new admin was sworn in, and being such a shrewd man he is, Baba would exploit and leverage on the goodwill for the ultimate purpose of establishing Nigeria as a country to be reckoned with not just regionally, but indeed globally.

Serious work lies ahead. Very daunting they might seem, but I know with the support and prayers of well Nigerians, Baba will surely succeed, setting a new template for assessment of governments that would succeed his.

My only source of joy is the inclusion of Fashola on buhari's entourage, atleast he can speak on behalf of the dauradullard cos the last time he spoke during his inauguration I could barely understand what he was saying how much more foreigners undecided

I don't like that 'wish list', if we are waiting for the develop countries to come and do those numerous things listed on that 'wish list', then it is better we call Britain to come back and start from were they stop because i see no reason why we got our INDEPENDENCE in the first place.

How can a government that doesn't have any blueprint have a wish list?

Why does the G7 want to poke fun at us by asking the Daura President to provide something he doesn't understand,

Buhari's wish list will include:

Reduce 1dollar to 1naira

Provide soilders to fight BH

Provide money to pay his 5k promised the janjaweedians holding the fort here

Stabilise the price of crude oil

I have noticed a marked watering down of the enthusiasm of Buhari's minions here on nairaland.
They have seen the handwriting on the wall and know that the guy is more clueless than Jona, and as such they have started wondering whether the babaonechance we call the daura man could be true afterall.

Fact is the man is clueless. Right before the elections, I always maintained that Buhari had nothing to offer Nigeria except to bolster his ego by winning an election.

In case he is yet to learn, let him look at Iraq, and other nations where Europe and the West helped to combat insecurity. He will learn soon enough that he might very likely be the west's instrument to breakup Nigeria.
