What I Went Through For Believing We Could Defeat PDP – TINUBU by Amaudeogu(m): 1:16am On Jun 08, 2015 |
LAGOS—National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has noted how he and other party officials were mocked at and derided when they conceived the idea of forcing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from power two years ago. Speaking at the African Young Entrepreneurs Empowerment Nigeria, AYEEN 2015 programme in Lagos, weekend, the party leader thus urged youths not to ever give up on their ideas “even if no one believes in you.” The APC leader who was represented by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, said that the youths should learn from APC’s story, as they strive to achieve their dreams. The former governor of Lagos State, who stressed that the journey of the party’s merger started in the minds of a select few said: “If I didn’t believe in the bold initiative, I wouldn’t have lent myself to the unprecedented merger of the political parties that became the APC. We wouldn’t have challenged the incumbent party controlling the central government, People’s Democratic Party, PDP. “There is no incumbent that has ever lost an election in this country. At the beginning of that journey, we were laughed at, we weren’t given a chance. We were told that we have embarked on an exercise in futility. Yet we believed in the justness of our call. The criticism didn’t deter us but encourage us. “That exercise has become a history-making exercise. The party that was described as dead on arrival has, however, given birth to a new government, spirit and better democracy.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/what-i-went-through-for-believing-we-could-defeat-pdp-tinubu/#sthash.4HoEsFby.dpuf 15 Likes 2 Shares |

StepTwo: How? You can't be the president by just having the highest number of votes cast. You also need to have twenty something odd percent of the votes cast in at least 24 states of the federation 10 Likes 1 Share |

ChaleeBendel:Well, I am from the North and I believe that Tinubu played a very key role in the emergence of Buhari. The different in votes between Buhari and Jonathan was somewhat around 2.5 million. If the South west had given all their votes to Jonathan, I am sure you know they had more than 2.5 million votes. 21 Likes |

StepTwo:Forget bro the Northerners respect tinubu and will keep on with that, PMB contested 3 times and the Northerners cannot use their votes to bring him to power until the likes of Jagaban give him a helping hand and hope cos he has already give up after the 2011 election until tinubu went to meet him and say sir we can do it together. 19 Likes 2 Shares |

Hate him or like him, Jagaban is a man with focus. I never believed APC would stand till 2015. chidibond:Not so true. If Buhari had run on his CPC platform, he would have failed woefully again. Johnny's failure helped them but if APC wasn't formed, no party could have stand up to PDP in 20 years. 7 Likes |

Please, start thinking of what you will go through in the next few months if your party does not fulfill your campaign promises. This is not time to praise yourself, it is time to deliver on your promises. |

ChaleeBendel: You people don't even read the larger picture as old as some of u are.....Tinubu was the brain behind Buhari even emerging victorious in the APC presidential primaries, even John Oyegun.....how could Buhari won the presidential election if he didn't win the APC primaries? if Tinubu didn't conceive the idea of merging, how could APC upstage PDP? If tinubu didn't donate generously to the electioneering campaign, how could he garnered material support from people? 11 Likes |
