Game day people. I know for sure that the falcons wont disappoint. Theyve not disappointed in a long long time. Swedish coach is known to be very conservative, like Lars Lagerback then. They will defend well till they can nick a goal, and then go defensive again. No hail mary skills or dribbles should be expected from the Swedes.

Cameroun will do better too. I agree as well, we've been naive in the past. It will take a few years before CIV can catch up.

Four best placed losers will also advance to the Knock-Out stages so 3 points might just be enough for the Super Falcons

On paper, we've got little or no chance against the swedes but If the girls bring their A-game and maintain top concentration, then I forsee a score draw(1-1, or 2-2) or a slender win 4 Our Super Falcons with Oshoala's form vital to the game's outcome. In Oparanozie(no.9), Courtney(no.10), Okobi(no.13), Sunday(no.7) and Ordega(no.17) we got game-changing lieutenants alongside 'SuperZee' Oshoala and 'Super Veteran' Nkwocha(who is expected to exert her magic 4m the bench).
AUSTRALIA MAY LOOK LYK OUR BEST CHANCE OF PICKING 3 PTS 4M ONE GAME BUT AGAINST SWEDEN TODAY... I THINK THE GIRLS GOT A BIG CHANCE TO MAKE A BOLD STATEMENT... 9pm loading...

GO GO GO 'AWESOME' SUPER FALCONS! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

P.S: Thanks 4 d updates and 4 keeping the thread going SIRS CFCFAN, DODOBYTES, AND TERZURUM5... GODBLESS Y'ALL...

Courtney and Oshoala is cute. smiley

Oparanozie looks like a man. cheesy

I foresee falcons performing well.
During last worldcup, they lost 8-0 to Germans during friendly but in the main event, Germans couldn't score more than a goal(abi na 2?).

Sweden vs. Nigeria: Can the Super Falcons beat Blagult?

Goal considers the possibility of Edwin Okon's talented squad overcoming Pia Sundhage's ladies in their opening Women's World Cup group game in Winnipeg
Jun 8, 2015. The Super Falcons look to be wearing around their necks the tags of underdogs going against Sweden in the adjourned Group of Death.
The Blue & Yellow side have never lost to Nigeria at senior level and this meeting is the third between the two in 12 years. The Super Falcons lost 3-0 in their first clash in 2003, before playing out a 1-1 draw four years later.
The encounter will decide both teams' prospect of progressing out of the group phase and at the same time could push the Super Falcons close to the exit door.
Having been in Canada for two weeks, the Super Falcons will be expected to cope with adaption and weather conditions. The sharpness and cohesion of the team, as well as their tactical and mental readiness will be best assessed against Pia Sundage's unpredictable side.
Ahead of the high-profile match, a scan of the African champions' camp reveals the team's urge and determination to succeed. The squad are on a high after their 9-0 dismantling of Woodbridge Ladies in their final warm-up tie in Toronto.
Despite few pre-World Cup preparatory tune-ups, with most against low-profile and male age-grade sides, the Falcons look in better shape than their World Cup opening opponents. In five high-profile friendly games, Sweden managed one victory against the Netherlands, drew one and lost three others.
Sweden |Fifth in the world, will the Falcons be able to cope with their illustrious opponents?
Beyond their poor form, the European side have struggled to cope with injuries as well as adapting to playing on an artificial turf. Such worries do not affect the Super Falcons, who had limited prepariation time to Sweden, who began camping since January.
The Nigerians are heavily fancied to lose to the Europeans, with both sides aiming to keep their flags high in Canada at the expense of USA and Australia. Sweden are rated as the fifth-best womens' footballing nation in the world, while opponents Nigeria are far behind them in 33rd.
Making it out of the group stages will undoubtedly raise the targeted semi-final dreams of Edwin Okon, who make his debut as a coach as the senior level against Sweden.
The impressive form of Francisca Ordega and the physical Desire Oparanozie, as well as Asisat Oshoala's speed and pace, provide a potent firing squad for Nigeria.
Can Nigeria's strikers see her out of a taxing group?
To crack an experienced Swedish side, the African representatives must remain consistently resolute, tactically disciplined and forceful in attack.
Okon should consistently alert his defenders to keep focus all through the 90 minutes by avoiding any lapses.
The side need to improve in the offensive departments, particularly more so than they did against the Mali and Woodbridge, if they are to progress in Canada.
Okon and his ladies can beat Sweden and boost their chances of making the next round.

Sweden W- Nigeria W Preview: Oshoala Returns to Familiar Ground.

The young sensation returns to the country where she won top awards at the U20 World Cup in 2014 seeking victory with the senior side
Nigeria Women open their Fifa Women's World Cup campaign against Sweden at the Winnipeg Stadium on Monday night, with Asisat Oshoala set to return to familiar grounds.
The 21-year-old was named best player at the 2014 Fifa U20 Women's World Cup in Canada and has not relented since. She was named best player at the African Women Championship late last year and moved to Liverpool in England early in 2015.
Personal accolades have come with delivering top notch performances that have propelled the national teams to glory.
She failed to deliver the U20 World Cup last year, narrowly losing to Germany in the final, but helped Nigeria regain the African title in Namibia as they defeated Cameroon 2-0.
The former Rivers Angels star insists she is under no pressure to set the stage alight not minding the opponent.
“For us, we do not know the word pressure. We do our best and just pray for mother luck. We have all it takes to go all the way and take the Cup back to Nigeria," Oshoala toldGoal.
"I was expecting any [oppostition] because it's called draws - anything can happen. The teams [USA, Sweden and Australia] are no threat to us all.
"We have more than enough good players who will make Nigeria progress from the group stage. I believe we have the capacity to advance and nothing to fear.
“We can't go to the World Cup to merely add to the numbers, but we're going there to participate and to prove a point.
"I can't say right away how far we'll go at the World Cup, but I'm positive we won't disappoint Nigerians when hostilities start in Canada," she said.
Pia Sundhage's side holds the edge over the Africans with Nigeria losing four of their last five successive World Cup games. They last won 1-0 against 2015 hosts Canada in 2011. While Sweden only lost one and won four of the last five.
The African champions boast of a well-built, formidable attack and physical defensive unit with Desire Oparanozie expected to lead the frontline with Oshoala, Francisca Ordega and Ngozi Okobi just behind in attacking midfield positions as part of coach Edwin Okon's settled line-up.
The Super Falcons bring an even stronger team to this year’s World Cup. Oshoala, the BBC women footballer of the year, has established herself as a star for Liverpool in England, while 21-year-old Oparanozie is coming off an 11-goal season for Guingamp in France.
Washington Spirit attacker Ordega (21) and Oklahoma State University striker Courtney Dike give the team enviable depth going forward.
The Falcons' defence will undoubtedly have more to do in Canada than they did in Namibia and coach Okon can depend on veteran Onome Ebi and Osinachi Ohale to marshal the defence

200 Nigerian Students in Winnipeg to Cheer Super Falcons Against Sweden.
Nigerian students resident in Canada hope to come out in their numbers to cheer the Super Falcons to victory over their illustrious European opponents on Monday.
At least 200 Nigerian students in Winnipeg have been mobilized to cheer the Super Falconsto victory against Sweden in their opening Fifa Women's World Cup game on Monday, a student official has told Goal.
Oyindamola Alaka, president of the University of Manitoba Nigerian Students' Association (UMNISA), said the Nigerian students in the province are extremely glad to have the African champions playing their two opening preliminary games in Winnipeg.
According to her, students of African descent and Nigerian community are heavily behind the Super Falcons to reach the next round at the expense of two-time winners USA, Australia and Sweden and even winning the coveted trophy.
"Unfortunately, we have no exact numbers but there are over 200 Nigerian students here," Alaka toldGoal.
"We are very excited to see them play. It is a great experience having the Nigerian team here in Winnipeg. We were filled with joy because for some of us, this is a once in a life time opportunity.
"We are going to watch the game at the stadium and we would be cheering them via social media too.
"Winnipegers think the Super Falcons are great and strong players and that they would definitely make it to the finals," the University of Manitoba student leader said.
Nigeria will open their campaign against Sweden on Monday with the tie billed for 3pm local time and 9pm Nigerian time at the Winnipeg Stadium.

She's lost at right-back, and the Swedes are taking full advantage of her sloppy play. I have to concede to the posters who said Njoku would have done a better job at right back.

In the 2nd half, Okon can shift Chukwunonye to the RB, wile Ohale slots into CB.

Well we have held our own in the game, still dont understand why our coaches still havent worked on our set-piece vulnerabilities though.I think Desire isnt fast enough upfront,we need a faster striker to replace her.

Nwabuoku has been really good, she has done well in the middle of the park,if we can get an early goal in the second half, the dynamics will change.
Re: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by jancollins: 10:00pm On Jun 08, 2015
Ohale is the weakest link at the back..
Imagine her playing a back pass to the keeper and the ball goes straight to the corner.
She needs to up her game.
