Just so u know, even the Vice Chancellor's collect security vote. These politicians are hypocrites, heartless and self centered. Federal Government pays for all their security details yet they pockets tax payers money without remorse. They organised National Conference and shared our money without adding any meaningful value to the lots of Nigerians. I cry everytime... |

From what I heard, Osun's security vote was 300Million during Oyinlola's tenure... Aregbesola has taken it to 600Million But because of d reduced allocation from d federation account, he reduced it to 400Million! THIEF OLE CARRY AND GO!!! |

barcanista:Hahahaha. No start abeg. I simply ignore your threads and don't really go there to insult you or anyone for that matter. I proclaimed two days ago that I've given up all that name calling stuff, and will honour that pledge to the letter. I realised I was letting the character of other people shape mine on the forum. I was losing it. Insulting has never really been my thing. Had to turn a new leaf and let people who go dirty do their thing. All I need to do is state my objective opinion and leave the stage so the kids could play. You know, I had it on very good account these governors "settle" a lot of people from this criminality. Traditional rulers, top hierarchy of police, the armed forces (depending on which arm of it has bases in the state), and a few party bigwigs. It is the reason searchlight is hardly beamed on it. It is one black hole that consumes anything that gets close to it (just like a cosmic black hole). I bet the reason why the NASS has never deemed it necessary considering legislation on it is because they also have been having their palms greased from the sleaze. State assemblies as we know them are simply rubber stamps, they can hardly check the excesses of their governors. Imagine a state as peaceful as Cross Rivers having such amount. What exactly was Liyel securing?? Look at peaceful Benue. Gosh! I bet had most of the states done away with the security vote, they wouldn't have had the kind of solvency crises they are enmeshed in right now, so bad they can't even pay a month's salary. God help us. |

IzonOwei:it is not the leaders who are taking nigerians for a ride or as fools ,it is the nigerian masses who are behaving like fools and who are fools all the same , strictly because they have refused to learn from past mistakes and learn from history. Our leaders know that nigerians have short memory and they will easily forget anything bad you have done to them if you can play the religion ,tribal or even financial joker on them . how can ppl take obj serious? Ppl have forgotten how corruption skyrocketed during his tenure and how elections were brazenly rigged !!! How can ppl accept a person like oyinlolo who actively participated in rigging for pdp against apc and yet ppl now see him as an angel? People like bukola saraki should not even be near our senate chambers at all ,same goes to many many pdp elected ppl too, let's put party differences aside , 98% of nigeria elected leaders now have no business even contesting talk less of winning elections. It is a case of garbage in garbage out. Nigerians voted for 90%garbage and they will get 90%garbage back. |

How can FG fund the police and then turn around to dole out billions of naira in security votes, I will say that the security vote should be converted to FG allocation to states so that every state will now have an increase in allocation. Imagine Osun state collecting 400million naira as security vote and the state can't pay salaries, how did we get here. Imo state govt allocated its own security votes to schools but truth be told we can't see any impact because its only a media allocation. God bless kwankwaso for using his own judiciously. @ barcanista, there is another money governors use without any supervision and that is the Ecological fund which runs into hundreds of millions |

omenka:very very good . Leave the insulting ,abusing and name calling to kids and juveniles. Party differences aside, we must realize that there is no pdp nigeria, there is no apc nigeria ,all we have is one nigeria. Just yesterday, both pdp senators and apc senators in a place in abuja had a wonderful good time together ,chatting ,laughing and having fun ,while dumbos will come on nairaland and be insulting and cursing each other because of them. The nigeria problem entangles both pdp ,apga and apc ppl and likewise non partisan ppl. |

jaybee3:Are you a learner? Security vote is a legitimate unaccounted money to governors, that's just one of their alawi, like when you hear a governor donate 6 van to the police, that's where the money come from, but we all know the governor don't spend up to 1 million in a month from that money, As for ECA, that one na LAPO money now, them dey share that one anyhow them like. Nigeria is too rich for 70% of the graduates to be roaming the street without job or underpaid. But the foolish youths don't even know, all they care about is scream Change and Transformation on social media. Find out from any of those student union executives in schools how much they get on a visit to state governor in their respective state, a visit to Edo state governor is 500k and the governor call it for transportation, i can't be sure of now, but then when i was in school, if the union is able to fix an appointment with the governor, omon that day na to dey sing #Godwin. Of course you need to settle the governors PA as they would be the one to set the ( racket ) appointment Too much money in the hands of our politicians |

Let us be sincere with ourselves, the current politicians will do nothing about the current fiscal mess. PMB might do one or two things but I do not see him doing much.Though he will still be better than the last regime. He is not the Messiah. I believe that we need a true federalism along regional and tribal lines which will bring governance closer to the grassroots making these politicians more accountable to their citizens. Critically, after PMB What is next? These shameless politicians will never learn from history due to their bogus, corrupt and shady characters. Unfortunately, these politicians are protected by their tribes which is understandable. But I know they will self destruct soonest and I see a military take over that will clear the current mess leading to the birth of an unknown Messiah. On a side note, the failure of aregbesola not to pay the civil servants in his state is a disgrace and a big stain in this region. He has no excuse whatsoever. Is he not collecting monthly allocation? I wonder how he sleeps and wake up each day.And certain persons should stop making excuses whether there are other states falling within this category. What is wrong is wrong.I am from a state nearby and we must practice what we preach. |

IzonOwei:the rot will continue for a long time ,I remember vividly well an interview wole soyinka granted bbc some few years back in london, each time I remember what he said I always shiver. The reporter asked him when he feels nigeria will recover from the rot abacha left. Soyinka said the problem wasn't even abacha but the system,it was then he advocated the stopping of uni admissions for 2years in order to cleanse the system. Then he said “it will take decades for the nation to fully cleanse the system”,the reporter chuckled and jokingly said “decades?”Soyinka looked at him with all seriousness and said “what has been destroyed will actually take GENERATIONS to be repaired”. Since that interview I have always sat down to look at even the tinniest fabric of the nigerian society and have come to realize that what soyinka said is true, from the hospitals to schools ,police, civil service ,and I have come to realize that corruption now seems to be the blood the very body of nigeria relies upon to survive . |

I have never been in support of security vote, It should be SCRAPPED! Why give out money running into billions to governors they are not meant to account for? The figures for some states is absolutely ridiculous. And to think we have a police that is grossly underfunded. Let these money be channeled to the security agencies asap. In fact, I can boldly say initial funding for bokoharam came from security votes for some northern governors. Buhari should start from here by scrapping this shit. |

brownlord:Yes i'm a learner my guy that's why i'm keen to understand how the largese is being funded by the federal government. Where exactly is the money coming from if it isn't directly linked to expenditures as published in the yearly national budget? How are they deriving the sharing formula (what states gets what) in order to be fair to all 36 states of the federation Are we borrowing to fund the largese and it keeps getting undocumented? I will be happy if anyone can hopefully share some light as it doesn't seem to make much sense to me It honestly seems we are spending what we haven't earned as a nation and it's alarming that it's actually in trillions on a yearly basis |

jaybee3:that is why nigeria democracy is the most expensive democracy in the world. The money spent on maintaining the nation democratic structures far outweighs the money been spent on developmental issues. |
