[quote author=donphilopus post=34639191]This man should just keep shut lest thunder fires him. He 'dashed' out the Deputy Senate Presidency slot to PDP and he's here blabbing. The respect I used to have for Saraki and Dino Melaye has just diminished. I love the way Ndume was treated. He never knew Saraki had met with PDP Senators to offer them the 'Deputy Presidential' slot. He thought he had played fast on his fellow APC Senators to emerge the Deputy to Saraki. He may have dumped Saraki by now since his 'supposed' slot was freely given to Ekwerimadu and Saraki is in for a long thing.

The PDP Senators should know that they were the greatest losers yesterday. Out of the 57 Senators that were present at the hallowed chamber of the Senate during the 'sham' Election, only 8 of them were APC Senators. If a PDP Senator had moved a motion to nominate a fellow PDP Senator (say David Mark), he would have won the contest hands down and Saraki would have felt betrayed by now

Dino should just shut up .

It is very certain that most of the active players in this whole brouhaha are not mindful of the implications of their actions when they were acting and the most foolish of them is this Melaye who still have a very long way to go politically.

While most of his other comrades are former governors and they are only in the senate to enjoy their retirement Dino still have his eyes on been elected as a governor in Kogi state and he is dying another man's death forgetting his own future.
Dino should ask himself a simple question. Why is PDP and its supporters celebrating?
I have a guess.
THEY CAN SEE THAT TO KILL A RAT, THEY SET THE WHOLE HOUSE ON FIRE. RIGHT NOW, THEY ARE TOO BLINDED TO SEE THAT HAVE CAUSED GREAT DAMAGE TO THEMSELVES.

Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi West) on Wednesday said the party lost Deputy Senate Presidency to PDP because many of its senators were absent from Tuesday’s inauguration.
Melaye, who briefed newsmen in Abuja, said all the APC senators present at the inauguration voted for the APC contestant, Sen. Ali Ndume, but lost because many APC senators were absent.
“Those that made APC to lose the Deputy Senate Presidency yesterday were those who stayed away from the chamber.
“If they had come, we would have won, we stood by our party, we nominated Sen. Ali Ndume, and the man who seconded the motion is a Senator from Kwara.
According to him, 20 APC members are in the chamber as at the time of the election and we all vote for Ndume.
He said that the APC was neither divided nor polarised.
The APC candidate, Sen. Ali Ndume, polled 20 votes, while the PDP candidate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, polled 54 votes to emerge winner.
The PDP has 49 senators and APC, 58. (NAN)http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/melaye-blames-apc-senators-for-loss-of-deputy-senate-presidency/

Let's be honest here., the senataors knew there. For the senate resident at atime because they have all been going fr orientation. So if there was meeting for a stated time and you are late should they wait for you. Why should they be consulting a meeting with the President( who was absent by the way) when he is not supposed to be influencing the legislators. Definitely the senators and the so called commissioner for justice ( VP Osinbanjo) do not know the duties of the legislature

Ekweremadu has shortchanged his people from the south East. To be a deputy senate president or Secretery to the federal Govt which one would be more influential ? The south East should forget other top position. Greed isn't good in life however as far as Melaye is concerned,he is talking arrant nonsense.

I disagree with your submittion that "PDP goofed" by not norminating their candidate for Senate Presidency, if they had tried it, they(PDP) would have lost out completely, because as at that material time, time was of essence. If PDP had norminated a candidate, they would have started an election,at the process the APC members would have arrived to team up against PDP or cause pandimonium on the floor, which probably would have put the inauguration at a halt. The fact that Saraki was unopposed, saved the day for PDP at that material time.
PDP refusal to norminate a candidate for SP,further set APC against APC, which is a big plus for them.
The game was well played by PDP.

It pains me when people argue blindly. Why did the House of Representative members wait for the APC reps that went for the same meeting with Buhari before conducting their election? This is the reason nobody is calling Dogara a JUDAS. If Bukola Saraki was sure of his popularity he would have toed the path of honour and test his popularity and he could still have won.

But when you have not sworn in 51 members of the Senate and you go ahead and elect the Senate President in a HURRY, it shows your hands are not clean.

Also many of you here have not even raised the issue of disrespect for the President of Nigeria who invited his party members for a meeting and 8 members shunned the meeting only to gang up with the opposition to share juicy posts in the senate.

If you don't see IMPUNITY in all these shenanigan and show of shame, then you are EVIL and worst than those who perpetrated that fraud called an election.

We must continue to pray fervently so that the EVIL men that we thought have been defeated do not take over again.

You ain't intelligent and ur IQ is low ... It is not the APC senators that will conduct election , it is the clerk of the National Assembly ... The clerk of the National assembly is the constitutionally empowered official to declare the NASS opened and conduct election for principal officers .....

The clerk will conduct election for the Senate first then moved to House of Reps to conduct their election too.

The not-so-wise APC senators left their primary responsibility to attend one useless meeting , if the APC leaders are serious , why can't they have concluded these meetings before morning of inauguration ....... Tinubu has been taught Nigerian lesson cuz he would have had his way if it is lagos.

Bukola was not the one that conducted the election, it was the Clerk of NASS .... Bukola even helped APC to safe her face by standing behind cuz all what the clerk needs is quorum to do his business... PDP might take up such advantage of APC absentee to play some cards and win majority.

The APC leaders failed, the party doesn't have any reason to lord position on members of the national Assembly, they did it against PDP in 2011 by voting for Tambuwal against Mulikat ..... they should have known better ..... also the defecting governors laboured and suffered for the the election, in the name of justice and equity, they also deserve some share of APC victory but Tinubu wants to have it all. ......

When we say CHANGE, we should live up to change, the national assembly is matured enough to chose her principal officials not that some godfathers somewhere will decide that ....

The best thing APC leaders should have done is to allow Bukola and Lawan to test their popularity, if this has been concluded from time immemorial, then there would be no rigour...... what is change if APC failed to change in principle from PDP.

Tinubu wants to control presidency through Osinbajo, Senate through lawan, and Reps through Gbajabiamila .......The rest show him how it is being done. Nigeria is bigger than Lagos and southwest.

Which yeye respect should be accorded to the president, the president doesn't have the power to stop any qualified party member to contest or not to contest........

The president should have asked the Clerk of the NASS to hold off election, He could have written letter to that effect or phone call so as to put his house in order ......... The president wouldn't asked the Clerk to declare the National assembly opened by 10am and called useless meetings by 9am........ The President already hand off national assembly election, Buhari said it emphatically and that is the president of CHANGE

it was Tinubu greediness and power monger that cost APC the deputy senate president.... Tinubu is not the leader of change.

The change Mantra suggest that Tinubu should allowed Bukola and lawan to test their popularity among the 109senators.

I don't see impunity, I only see dullards led by Opolo eyes...... you also are a mo.ron and foolish ....... get ur facts and sense of history right before you debate next time ..... am a fan of Tinubu until now.

Femi gbajabiamila wouldn't have lost the position of speakership, he is far far better than dogara and more popular .... femi understand the business of the house than dogara but for Tinubu influence he lost ..... the national assembly doesn't want any fucki.ng godfather to lord any one on them ... they want to choose their leader themselve and this precedence was set by Tinubu himself when the opposition members all voted for tambuwal against mulikat(PDP anointed) in 2011 even what Tinubu and his members did cost the whole of southwest adequate representation in the first four position in Nigeria... Nobody was crying treachery against we Yoruba But now it is impunity.

what are you saying again, dullman.

The bottom line is: Sen. Saraki is the Senate President Nigeria has at the moment. So learn to get use to it.
And as for Sent. Ekweremadu, what can I say? When it comes to the "politickings" in Nigeria politics, APC is an amateur.

You missed it son. Your analysis was good until you said pdp are the biggest losers for not nominating one of their own. PDP senators are not clueless like you think. There was no way a PDP man will become the President since they are minority in the house. If they had nominated one of their own for the presidency, the few APC members would have rejected it and fought tooth and nail. There would have be serious fracas by now even worse than the locking out of Tambuwal.

This is a very sentimental post.

1. How is Pdp the biggest looser? They wouldn't have had any position at all if all apc senators were present but now, they have the dsp and SL. So how is Pdp the biggest looser?

2. Do you know the agreement they had with sariki in closed doors before they went to the red chambers?

3. The president called for a meeting by 9am, the senate 'inauguration started by 10am, what happened btw 9am and 10am?

4. Does it mean none of the apc senators was alerted by anybody- family member, aide etc to the fact that the senate inauguration has started since it was televised life?

5. The president said he didn't show up for his scheduled meeting because he saw that the senate meeting has started, why didn't he alert the other senators immediately?

Like I said, this is a sentimental post!
