So so proud to have been a uniben student.... I actually squated with friends at hall 3, hall 4 and hall 5.... den partially off campus (ekosodin).......the toilet issue can't get a solution cos of those tigers called students........ dem boys are so bleeping stubborn..

Yes....if you want good residential facilities in Nigerian universities.....INCREASE THE FEES....or privatize the hostels. Even if it means hostel fees of N150000 per annum....at least for a clean working toilet....it is worth it!

Education funding in Nigeria is not enough. If you pay N5000 .....you get N5000 toilet. Pay N2million....you get first class.

But I am not suggesting we pay N2million.

I am suggesting, however, that we face the reality. Nigeria does not have enough money for education. Either PMB finds an extra N5 trillion yearly for universities....or we privatize all of them, and focus all the saved money on primary and secondary education.And we can increase taxes while we are at it.

If you want first class....you pay for first class. Accept no substitutes.

Though Tertiary Education Fund gives millions of naira to federal universities yearly, in 2014, it was about N912 million per university.
The problem ain't the funding, it's the management of the fund alloted.

As for the OP's narrative, I blame the students, experienced the same thing in my uni days, why would a sane person use a restroom without flushing... Some Nigerians are just animals. Simple... we behave like animals and our leaders treat us like such....

Nearly a decade ago whilst a student at Uniben, I managed to procure accomodation in this same Hall 4, have forgotten which Unit now. I could only last there 2 weeks due to the very horrible sanitary condition, especially the toilets, couldn't even use the bathroom but instead bathed outside. It remains till date the most horrible experience I've had and thoughts of those restrooms still make me shriek with disgust. I'm awed the authorities still havent done much to ameliorate the situation. Needless of course to say that some of the students' standard of hygiene could best be described as bestial. Can't say more!

Hall IV was worth it during my stay in my first year in 2007... I was a proud engine student.. A very corrosive blood. I saw a lot of things in the toilet sometimes I go as far as my faculty to make sure I dropped those waste. If I remember vividly I stayed in unit 1 - Rm 192 and it was not so fun but I learnt a lot never to forget putting paper on the toilet sit before taking a shoot and u must bathe after you go toilet.. Sometimes water no dey.. We will walk up to unit 3 to get water .. Hall IV - Alkanu ibaim hall abi wetin them dey call am Abuja quarters .. Lols

Great uniben and their ARROWS. The toilet situation is one major reason why I never stayed in the school hostel. All through my school days I stayed at BDPA. I have never seen the inside of HALL IV toilet except Hall 3.
