adam was called the son of God and many other, so what your point? Yes, Abraham has two son( Isaac and ishmael) even the quran omit ishmael name in the prophetic blood line. Meaning Isaac was the covenant child.

Beisdes, Ishmael and Hagar had been sent away by Abraham before this test came. The trial of Abraham is in Genesis 22 which commences with a statement showing that the events in chapter 22 occurred after those recorded in 21

Genesis 22:1

After these events, God tested and proved Abraham and said to him, Abraham! And he said, Here I am.
2 [God] said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah; and offer him there as a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I will tell you.

The highlighted are all chronicled in chapter 21

Ishmael was born of the flesh,this is why the bible say Isaac was his ONLY son. Jesus has brothers but God called him the Only beggoten son in john3:16

Hagar was a legitimate wife not a concubine.

Still, Isaac was never an only son.

Translation (NLT)
46 What comes first is the natural body,
then the spiritual body comes later.

Sarah was wrong when she told Abraham to marry Hagar ( Gen. 16:1-2), but she was right when she told Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael out of the camp.
God promise Abraham he will make him a father of all nation with sarai. But they were growing old and sarai was inpatient, so she told Abraham to sleep with hager, God has noting to do with this plan of sarai.

But for Isaac, it was God himself that promise sarai a son name Isaac. Isaac was born of a divine promise but ishmael was of the flesh.

yes, by legal right hager was Abraham wife, but God himself sanctioned the sending away of hager and ishmael, and NO one say Isaac was the only son BUT when God command Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, by then ishmael and his mother had long gone, that make Isaac the ONLY son presently with Abraham.

let me repeat myself again:

God did not command Abraham to sleep with hager, it was sarai who advice Abraham to do it meaning God had no hand in ishmael birth, in a real sense As long as God is concerned, He ONLY recognised Isaac as Abraham son because that's what he promise him.

Besides, it's no trial of faith to Abraham if Ishmael was the reference! Isaac,the son of promise, was already born! It becomes a trial when Ishmael being sent off, there will be no one to fall back on if Isaac was to be sacrificed
