the boy says he works, and he's the heir to a company. and then you click employment and personal asset...

It's best to tell the truth because the cic probably has the record already. When one applies for permanent residency, it is required to fill out a form with the details of all your family members even if you are not sponsoring them. So your sister and brother would have included your name in their form so if you lie you might be doing yourself more harm than good. In my opinion, family ties in canada is not always viewed as a bad thing.

favour0011:
Hello House.... so this is whats up. I plan on applying for my try next month. I have a job(can use that as home tie) but then my older bro and sis are permanent residents in Canada. am kinda confused cos this may get my app delayed due to strong ties in canada but my plan is not to let the VO know that my sis is based in canada, will use her address in naija while i use my bro as a co-sponsor (but with his address in canada). My uncle here in naija will be my sponsor. I need your advice pls.

@hayquiFX...l'm so sorry for the delay but l have a feeling it has more to do with your SOP, did you address most reasons for previous delays of other applicants, lyk PURPOSE OF VISIT(u stated ur course, goals, ambitions and y u choose dat course and canada?), LENGTH OF PROPOSE STAY(did you quote 3years boldly in relation to ur advance dip?), then the course you choose, there's just smthg abt it, l'm glad u'v made plans to rectify that...as for employment and personal asset, l have nothing to say on that. In my opinion, l feel u shld work more on ur SOP(read smwhr that, it's d key).

@hayqinsbfx

sorry about your delay.
I think you are right in saying it had to do with your program of choice. To me it appears you could do more with what you have i.e. you have a BSc and lots of assets and potential. Why go spend three years doing an advanced diploma, why not an MSc (+/- PGD or pre-masters courses, if your CGPA is a problem). I'm thinking, if you change your program, you would be better positioned. #justmy2cents.
All the best going forward
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by hayqinsbFX: 3:29pm On Jun 15, 2015

Good morning all!

I remember there was a time we had a debate about where study permits are being processed.

I sent an email to the lagos visa office on friday, but got a response to direct my email to accra that ALL study permits from Nigeria are processed in Accra.

Note: the text message I got after biometrics stated that my app had been forwarded to Lagos visa office.

**Just for information purposes**

Have a lovely week ahead!!!
which forms did you fill for your daughters app??

There's absolutely nothing wrong with your program/duration of study. If you don't mind, could you please post your statement of purpose so that we can peruse and advise accordingly. Thank you and have a wonderful day.

I am no guru but this is what l noticed abt your SOP.....1. it wasn't addressed ( The Visa Officer, High Commission of Canada, 4 Anifowoshe Street, Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria e.t.c), then it also wasn't well detailed...you didn't state your reason for choosing canada, how long your course would be, how long u'd stay (smtyms it's better to summarize the entire app in your SOP, it doesn't matter if you feel they might get the info from the other files)....sop is a chance to explain yourself....doesn't even matter if it enters five pages, as long as it's convincing(read that smwhr in part 4/5). l hope this helps.

ya it is compulsory....as canada doesn't require any interview on most cases. Your SOP represents you and conquer all possible doubts the VO myt have. lt's a chance to explain yourself and also to show your uniqueness.....remember they deal with so many apps, so in your SOP....you show them what make you so special.

@hayqinsbFX, you are smart guy and a lot of people have benefited from you on this forum and so I know your next app will scale thru- He who helps people shall never need to ask for help. He shall have it in abundance...

1. Purpose of Visit: Your pan B will sort this out! It's easy to understand that someone with a diploma is going for advance diploma, but with a BSc, it's difficult to sell. Please use the admission from Centennial college in your next app. Even though it is PGD, I am sure the VOs know that it's an upgrade to BSc.

2. Length of proposed stay: Again, the VO would have thought, "if he Akinbusola really wants to come back and take over his dad's affairs or work for the company, why spend 3 whole years? why not a 1 or two year program that will upgrade his degree/knowledge? why an advance diploma that is less than a BSc?"...So again, your centennial admission should take care of that.

3. Employment status: You submitted a study leave letter from your dad's company, but I can see you did not submit an employment letter and payslips to show that you have been working for your dad. I say this because it is not possible for a company to give a non-employee a study leave letter.
Please submit an employment letter and payslips in your next app to support your SOA.

4. Personal Asset: The employment letter and payslip can also help with this. If you don't have any other personal asset (like pension) to add, kindly provide supporting document to show that your Dad's asset will be willed to you...Also submit your own tax clearance card if you have one.

When did you graduate from Uni? What ever explanation you have to give in your SOP should only cover the period after school. You owe no one an explanation as to what you were doing when you were in school..it is obvious!

Also you need to explain why you have not gone for your NYSC and give reasons why you have decided to go to school before coming back for NYSC.

In all my dear, go through your SOP again and read it with the VO's eyes, then note down every question that comes to your mind from the VO's perspective and address/answer them-this is key!

I know you will make it this time, so long as you cover all gaps. In all my friend, the grace of God can never be over emphasised!!!

ciao!

hayqinsbFX:
Purose, length of proposed stay, employment and personal assets.

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by hayqinsbFX: 4:45pm On Jun 15, 2015
yeah @team12 all observation noted.

i just graduated october 2014.
in Truth i can only point at the advanced diplomas duration is my undoing.
@launrey also went for advanced diploma but its a 2year course and on the form where u need to input ur level of study he put certificate while i put diploma.
The lowest pre-requisite for his adv diploma is a BSC, while i gained admission with my high school certificates.

The centennial admission should sort it out, i would just try to tweak my statement of purpose relating my first application and my new program of study.
