Dear op, your theory is as senseless as it is baseless. A simple search on youtu e would show you power banks and phone batteries exploding.


And I'm sure you know 99% of power banks were made in China? During the Sony Ericsson days I bought a fake extra battery for my phone then, I charge it full and was going out with the fake(spare) battery in my pocket. Suddenly I felt something g burning my @rse, I brought out the battery from my back pocket and it was very hot I threw it in middle of the road with cars passing, the next thing; it exploded like a bomb. If it had been during this time of boko haram people might mistake me for a suicide bomber

I said every power bank I've seen is covered in plastic... now if you look at the dead girls picture... it melted into her body... melted and the casing... intact... if it was a power bank with "polymer" casing... the bloody plastic would melt with the body... when electrocution occurs... it glues... and burns... the metal case of the hard disk is unaffected... do you need me to continue... I never stayed metal casing won't shock... and please don't sell me crap... in width your picture is quite smaller... you're an engineer... precision should be paramount...

I'm not just sure you make use of your eyes and brain.
You're eyes should have shown you the casing is metal and your brain would have told you polymer and lithium , li-on are battery types.

Op considering your electrical theory you are right but you may not be right saying the cause is not a power bank. Take a look at it from this perspective.
From the story, the power bank was connected to AC source and remember every electronic device(whether powered by A.C or D.C) has the maximum temperature they can withstand (diode majorly) before they burn. Since the girl was sleeping and power bank was connected to AC supply, there is tendency the power bank heat up and burned after a long time of charge without disconnection which cause the plastic case of the power bank to melt with the skin of the girl. From the pic, it looks like melting not electric shock coz there is a liquid substance on the floor around her neck.

The power bank I use do heat up after a very long charging.

Kindly reexamine your argument. So it melted which would probably take some minutes and the girl was sleeping all those while? Just look critically at it.

My thoughts here is what kind of deep sleep did she fall into that at the first sign of unholy heat or shocks did not wake her up? Or could it be that she died from generator fumes before the burnt occured? Knowing that theres been power failure of late.

Survived a near incident during my school days. Lit a candle and placed on a plastic container of sulphur ointment. Candle burnt through the plastic container and was consuming the ointment on the rug with me lying on a mattress there on the rug. I woke up just time and till date still give thanks to God for saving me.

I don't dispute the fact of the burnt but something could have woken her up except she died before the burnt occured. Not doubting these chinese products, they may have used high capacitive capacitors for holding charges instead of real batteries. That may have caused the death from powerful voltage shock

Have u wondered why its not adviseable to use laptop on a bed? Cos d little heat created doesnt dissipate buh keeps on going bak to the laptop. Same with phones and other devices using batteries. The heat from the powerbank killed her(cos those look like burns). Its possible something cud have made here unconscious while it was slowly burning into her skin(thats a theory for another day.. Anyways if its photoshop, i applaud the architect. But all the same be mindful of how you use devices... Cos if a phone can melt it plastic back cover what dyu think it cud do to u..

DC power from batteries can explode when both polarities are touched, that's why you see sparks n fumes when u touch them. (not advisable)

Also, one can feel a little shock from unearthed buildings even if its from a charger (not strong enough to kill sha).

Anyway, Good observations.
