As a mentalist this is what happened.
1. For them to trail him means they knew about the money, is either the bank who call the hit squad,or there is an insider in the lord chosen who gave them intel of his movement(i go with this,is an inside man job from lord chosen).
2.for them to shoot him at a close range,while he was sitting in his car, means the shooter knew him and possibly the pastor knew him.
3. This action of this assaillants was both personal and some kind of revenge (i dont think this is the first time he will be going to the church).
