I was going through old mails in my Yahoo! sent items and came across this poem I sent in 2010 to the mother of my son when she was preparing to get married to another. Our son was 14yrs old then. We got separated in '08 due to some irreconcilable differences. I wept while sending it then, but going through it now, I couldn't help but laugh............
It is titled "I WILL DANCE AT YOUR WEDDING"

Enjoy It:


...Questioning eyes, "What is he doing here?"
...Pitying eyes, "He should not go through this."
...Curious eyes, "Who is he?"
...Malicious eyes, "Let me fill you in...."

I have come to face them - The eyes.
To drink a toast to your happiness.
To dance at your wedding.

I will "Hurrah!!" and clap, and wish you well.
I will sway to the tune
And shuffle to the dance.
I will smile and chatter
And pretend it does not matter.
Pretend my heart is not so heavy
It could drop right out of me.
Pretend I do not feel like running out
To bury my head in the sand.
Pretend that his face
Will not haunt me for nights to come.
Pretend I do not feel like Crying Out
At the unfairness of it all.
Pretend I do not mind at all
That it is not on my arm you are hanging.

I will face the eyes....
I will pretend....
I will dance at your wedding,
And smile, and wish you well.

FOR......

I WILL NOT stay home and CRY.






I did not eventually attend the wedding. My folks prevented me...............
