Recovery is a good thing, but believe me, you don't want a beach that is first polluted by a market and recovered. Imagine a place like ose market recovered and a 5 star hotel built ? It is always better to secure the natural thing before it's polluted. Again recovery is so hard and fraught with all sorts of legal boundaries that make it a Pyrrhic victory.
Take the Chuba Ikpeazu stadium in Onitsha for example. Peter Obi rightly pulled down the 4 storey Onitsha north LGA building wrongly built there and paid to have the debris removed by as much cost as building the tiny stadia. In the end, it may have been better to go some where in Nsugbe and build a bigger stadium on virgin ground.

5 star hotels on river beaches should look like the pics below or you'll be building another hotel that nobody will care to visit.
I still believe it can be achieved including Anamcity Which Obi wanted to do, but back off for no reason!. All These Projects needs 'A Bulldozer Like Governor!.....Obiano Looks Like one!.These are Big! Big!! Projects that requires A Big & Fearless Leader Like Obiano to accomplish!. Money will not be an issue because there are several Indigenous & Foreign Investors waiting on The Wings to Move in!.They are just Waiting for The Policy Makers to come up with this irresistible offer before they come in!.

Work is fast pacing at the new airport dual carriageway. This Avio-international airport will definitely place Anambra on the world spotlight.

The fishing and agrarian community of Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, came alive with the flag off of the 8.5 kilometer Aguleri-Otuocha-Umueri Airport dual carriageway.

Anambra State Governor, who also inspected the Aguleri –Uno oil rig road project, a 40 kilometer road and several bridges, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, reassuring the people of the State that the projects would boost economic activities in the State by the time the airport and the road projects are completed.

The governor, who was briefed by the contractor on the progress of the project, also expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the project, which, according to him, on completion would open up seven food producing communities in Anambra North.

While addressing the people after the inspection, the governor said the projects are in the interest of the people, especially the Airport project which when completed would have a depot for aviation fuel for international flights.

He announced a new partnership with a South African company that will boost electricity supply in the Omabala region and beyond.

The State Commissioner for Works, Calistus Ilozumba, said the state had secured approval from the Federal Government for the airport and had also acquired enough land for the project and therefore the road to the airport is very important.

The governor’s entourage moved to Nando From Aguleri, another food producing community in Anambra East local government area for the flag off of a 4.5 kilometer road, awarded at N1 billion.

The governor flagged off the project and assured the people that the contractors have been fully mobilized and the road is expected to be completed in one year.

The Anambra State government said the road construction will cost the sum of N5 billion.

5 Anambra students to represent Nigeria at 27th world debate in Singapore
By NAN

Five students from various secondary schools in Anambra will represent Nigeria in the 27th World Schools Debating Championship scheduled for Singapore between June 27 and July 3.

The students are: Adachukwu Onyekwena (Girls Secondary School, Amaenyi, Awka), Nnamdi Udoji (Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha) and Chinemerem Oguaba (Awada Secondary School, Obosi).

Other s are: Chukwuebuka Obichi (Army Day Secondary School, Onitsha) and Nneka Chigozie(Mater Ammabillis, Secondary School, Umuoji).

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview in Awka on Wednesday that the students had qualified for the world competition.

She said that after coming tops in the various national debate competitions at the secondary schools level, the five students were now set to slug it out with their mates at the international level.

The commissioner congratulated them for being outstanding among their peers and urged them to be good ambassadors of the state while in Singapore.

Omenugha said their success was a positive manifestation of the premium Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra placed on education, which she said had been revolutionary.

She said the state government would provide all the necessary support to facilitate the students’ journey to Singapore, as well as ensure that they had a brilliant outing as she urged them to remain focused.

NAN reports that the successful students included three females and two males from five secondary schools in Anambra.

BVN: Customers In Awka Flood Banks, Seek Extension Of Deadline

Commercial banks in Awka are having problems contending with the surge of customers who wish to obtain their Bank Verification Numbers (BVN)which would elapse on June 30.

The customers who became serious about the BVN since the deadline was set expressed frustrations with the exercise as the branches of the banks they went to could not attend to them.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the central bank of Nigeria (CBN) had some months ago directed all commercial banks to carry out biometric and data capturing of their customers for them to have up to date information about them.

Some of the bank customers who spoke to NAN on Tuesday appealed to the CBN to consider extending the deadline.

Mr Jude Nwokike, a customer with one of the new generation banks, said he had consistently been going to the bank since two weeks without success.

Nwokike said this was because only one branch of a particular bank was serving a high population density area as Awka.

He called for decentralisation of the registration centres so that it would be seamless, while calling on CBN to extend the deadline.

Also, Mr Azubuike Okoro, a financial consultant, said the delay to undergo the BVN exercise by customers was unfortunate and typical of every Nigerian.

Okoro, a former branch controller of CBN, Awka, said the June 30 deadline should not be postponed by the Bankers Committee as people would likely relax again if there was an extension.

He said that anybody who did not get his BVN by the deadline should not be allowed to transact business in any bank until such a customer produced it.

“It is bad that our people refuse to do the right thing until the last minute, this process has been on for about a year now and since the deadline is just a few days away, customers are pressurising and lamenting over BVN.

“The deadline should not be extended and the machines are expensive, so it is not feasible to get them at all branches, because after the exercise, there may not be need for them again.

“So, my advice is that any customer who fails to obtain BVN should not be allowed to withdraw or deposit money; the policy itself is very healthy for our financial system,” Okoro said.

A business man who simply identified himself as Mike said he was making a last minute effort to undergo the exercise because he was afraid that he could lose his life savings if he failed to get before June 30.

Mike urged commercial banks to deploy the machines they were using to conduct the BVN to more branches so that all their customers would be captured before the expiration date.

A manager of one of the banks at Eke-Awka who pleaded for anonymity, admitted that there had been increase in the number of customers seeking BVN in the bank.

The manager, however, said that the bank was helpless in managing the crowd.

He said that the centralisation of the BVN process was the policy of the bank, adding that its staff would only work with what they have and attend to those they were able to.

The manager, however, expressed the hope that the deadline might be extended to accommodate others.

When NAN visited a branch of FCMB in the city, the customer-service agent told our correspondent that the bank was only taking the bio-data of their customers.(NAN)

Nigeria: Innoson to Mass Produce First Made-in-Nigeria Motorcycle

The executive vice chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr Mohammed Haruna, has revealed that the Nigerian automobile company, Innoson Nigeria Ltd, Nnewi, Anambra State, is set to set up an assembly plant to mass produce the agency's first made-in-Nigeria motorcycle.

Speaking exclusively to LEADERSHIP at the agency's headquarters in Idu Industrial Layout, Abuja, Haruna said the move was for uniformity.

The NASENI, in June 2013, launched its first ever wholly made-in-Nigeria motor cycle, the NASENI M1

The 80C engine motorcycle was conceived, designed and manufactured, using local materials by Nigerian engineers at the National Engineering Design Development Institute (NEDDI), one of the nine research and development (R&d) institutes supervised by the agency. The NASENI boss said its aim was to produce the prototype and allow industries with capacity to take over from the agency and mass produce the product.

He said, "We produced three prototypes and perfected its production, however, for uniformity and commercial production, Innosson Nigeria Limited is now trying to set up an assembly that will do mass production of that and when that is achieved the NASENI would have achieved its mandate, target and aim under that project. Our aim is not to flood the market with the products but to have someone else with capacity to mass produce our models and pay royalty to the agency."

Listing other products by the NASENI which are available for commercialisation, he also said the agency has produced solar panels, science kits for tertiary institutions and block moulding machines. cool

Election tribunal: Anambra PDP, Reps candidate concede defeat at pre-trial

AWKA—First Anambra Election Petition Tribunal headed by Justice Nayai Aganaba, has expressed shock over the decision of candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Nnamdi Eze, to concede defeat to his opponent, Mr. Dozie Nwankwo, of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the March 28, 2015 election for Anaocha/Njikoka/Idumukofia Federal constituency.
PDP and Nnamdi Eze confessed that APGA’s Dozie Nwankwo actually won the election .
The dramatic concession, which elicited wide laughter in court, came up when the second and third respondents to the petition, Dr. Eze and PDP respectively, admitted that a polling unit by polling unit computation of all the valid votes clearly showed that Mr. Nwankwo won the election by a wide margin, hence he should have been returned elected.
