Gov Obiano commended for insisting on prompt payment of workers’ salaries, despite the harsh economic realities of the day

Governor Willie Obiano’s insistence on prompt and regular payment of workers’ salaries, despite the harsh economic realities of the day, has been described as a highly commendable decision that singles him out as an enigmatic leader with human conscience.

A former Commissioner for Lands in the State and Private Legal Practitioner, Chief John Okoli-Akirika, expressed the view in his office in Awka in a chat with Correspondent, Kenechukwu Ofomah.
Chief Okoli-Akirika, who, said for any government to be deemed responsive and focused, its policies and programmes must be anchored on first for the welfare of the governed, observed that by the gesture, Governor Obiano has once again exhibited a high degree of administrative responsiveness.
According to him, when some state governments in the country are considering retrenching workers or reduction in their salaries as a way out of the financial crisis, the present administration is not only insisting on payment but also on making it prompt and regular.
He noted that Governor Obiano has also ensured that all projects started by his predecessor are continued and completed, while commencing new ones, describing him as a proactive leader who has combined vision with managerial ability in the administration of the affairs of the state.
Chief Okoli-Akirika called on workers in the state to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture by ensuring that they carry out their duties with high sense of dedication and in a manner that will give impetus to what government is doing in transforming the state to the next level.
On how to scale the financial crisis, Chief Akirika advised the affected states to adopt Governor Obiano’s plan which include diversification of the state economy, aggressive IGR drive, focus on attracting investors as well as huge investment in repositioning the agricultural sector to become the mainstay of the state economy.
It will be recalled that Governor Obiano has overtime maintained his stance not to renege on prompt and regular payment of workers’ salaries, despite the significant downturn in the state’s share of the Federal Allocation.
This is however coming against the backdrop of the inability of twenty-three out of the thirty-six states of the federation, to pay their workers’ salaries.

The executive vice chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr Mohammed Haruna, has revealed that the Nigerian automobile company, Innoson Nigeria Ltd, Nnewi, Anambra State, is set to set up an assembly plant to mass produce the agency's first made-in-Nigeria motorcycle.

Speaking exclusively to LEADERSHIP at the agency's headquarters in Idu Industrial Layout, Abuja, Haruna said the move was for uniformity.

The NASENI, in June 2013, launched its first ever wholly made-in-Nigeria motor cycle, the NASENI M1

The 80C engine motorcycle was conceived, designed and manufactured, using local materials by Nigerian engineers at the National Engineering Design Development Institute (NEDDI), one of the nine research and development (R&d) institutes supervised by the agency. The NASENI boss said its aim was to produce the prototype and allow industries with capacity to take over from the agency and mass produce the product.

He said, "We produced three prototypes and perfected its production, however, for uniformity and commercial production, Innosson Nigeria Limited is now trying to set up an assembly that will do mass production of that and when that is achieved the NASENI would have achieved its mandate, target and aim under that project. Our aim is not to flood the market with the products but to have someone else with capacity to mass produce our models and pay royalty to the agency."

Listing other products by the NASENI which are available for commercialisation, he also said the agency has produced solar panels, science kits for tertiary institutions and block moulding machines.

Recovery is a good thing, but believe me, you don't want a beach that is first polluted by a market and recovered. Imagine a place like ose market recovered and a 5 star hotel built ? It is always better to secure the natural thing before it's polluted. Again recovery is so hard and fraught with all sorts of legal boundaries that make it a Pyrrhic victory.
Take the Chuba Ikpeazu stadium in Onitsha for example. Peter Obi rightly pulled down the 4 storey Onitsha north LGA building wrongly built there and paid to have the debris removed by as much cost as building the tiny stadia. In the end, it may have been better to go some where in Nsugbe and build a bigger stadium on virgin ground.

5 star hotels on river beaches should look like the pics below or you'll be building another hotel that nobody will care to visit.

That's N80k per month for a double flat a floor apartment block.
Here we builds not to really make money, but to hold the value of your money and for the rainy days.
Liquidity is tight in Onitsha. Here's not Lagos. Before you advice your governor to increase tax, he should improve the standard of living here.

Dat should not involve d govt, wat shud concern govt is how to pack d refuse from major places... d only thing d govt shud do us teach d ppl how to maintain a clean lifestyle and ensure d environmental sanitation is doing, like every beginning of d month should be sanitation no shops or business must open until 9am.. then after dat d govt goes for inspection... households who don't clean der surroundings wud be penalized.

What happened was that business and economic boom was expanding from Onitsha to Oshimili in Delta state the same way it expanded to Oba, Obosi, Ogidi, Ogbunike etc. The core of the economic activities is still in Onitsha just as those big importers and exporters are resident in Anambra. Nollywood producers and marketers are still in Onitsha at Electromart and Iweka road. The over-spill of economic boom is what you see at the peripheral towns around Onitsha, at the end it will all form part of greater Onitsha city. Security in and around Onitsha and Anambra is general is top-notch. You can walk around Upper-Iweka all through the night. A typical example is the over-spill of development from Lagos to Ogun state, the same thing happened in Nasarrawa because of proximity of Abuja.

I fell from Heaven & landed in Obosi Idemili Lga of Anambra-State & by the grace of GOD ALMIGHTY the son of the soil!.I am involved my brother!. This is not rhetorics, but fact!. What I am saying is that at the moment, the money being collected is running in Billions according to our research & our investigation using More than half of Obosi Urban as a case study!.I don't know how difficult it has been for you to understand this, but it is a Fact whether you agree or not!.I use some of my properties & others to understudy the workings of the sanitation agency concerning taxes & levies in all these areas I mentioned!. UNCERTAINTIES HANG OVER IFEANYI UBAH FC BULGARIAN COACH


Bulgarian coach Mitko Dobrev could soon be quitting high-riding Ifeanyi Ubah FC despite compiling a fine run at the newly promoted club on their return to the Nigeria top flight.

Ifeanyi Ubah are now third on the premier league table with 23 points from 13 matches, only three points behind leaders Sunshine Stars.

They could climb higher in the standings on Sunday, when they host second-placed Wikki Tourists at Oba.

AfricanFootball.com has now exclusively learnt the Bulgarian, who is in his second stint in Nigeria having previously worked with Heartland, does not have a contract with new owners of Gabros, Ifeanyi Ubah FC.

“The coach does not have a contract with Ifeanyi Ubah FC as his contract is with Gabros,” an official told AfricanFootball.com

“The new owners are supposed to enter contract talks with him now especially as the team have taken the league by storm. But we have to wait and see if they will do so.”

However, the agent of the Bulgarian coach, Geoffrey Aghogi, denied the story, insisting his client is happy at Ifeanyi Ubah.

“These stories are mere rumours as Mitko is very happy and settled at the club,” maintained Aghogi.

The uncertainty over the future of the coach has been compounded by the quest of millionaire owner Ifeanyi Ubah to reorganise the club according to his own expectations.
