Hi evryone,I'm new here,I just got my CAS from the university of bradford for an Msc course.Have been reading dis thread 4 quite some time now.And I want to ask;can I pay 4 d IHS b4 I start applying 4 visa.I should be applying my visa on d 10th of july .So can I pay d IHS b4 10th so that I can get my reference number.And also do I need to send d number to my schl for an update of my CAS?

Hey! If your school didn't ask you for the IHS reference and still gave you your CAS, I don't think you have to worry about 'sending it to them to update your CAS'. Besides, the IHS requirement took effect from April 6th 2015 and I'm 99% sure you didn't get your CAS before that date.

I have a 50% scholarship and a bursary from my uni for my tuition fee. I also have money in my account and would also be submitting my mother's bank account statement.

My questions are

1. Am i a tier 4 sponsored student? Because of the scholarship and bursary...

2. There is a section that says do you have money in your name? Yes or no. According to what I read if I have money in my account or have a scholarship the answer should be yes. If the money is in my parent's name it should be no. So which one do I select? With the scholarship, bursary and my own money I have over 3/4 of the required funds.

The checklist is for your visa application and the IHS is required for visa application, since your school didnt ask for it, then you do not need to send it to them.

Make your question a bit clearer...50% scholarship from your school in the UK? If yes, were you given scholarship letter?
Is the bursary from your school in Nigeria? Again were you given a letter as a prove?

I have a letter for the scholarship with the whole sponsor code and all. I was also sent the bursary letter. According to them, they are also going to include it in my CAS.

2. In that case selection since the money is in your account + the scholarship

Double check with the school or wait for your awards to be reflected on your CAS. Usually, both awards don't go together, you will most likely be paid the higher value.

Hi Petitediva, congrats on your scholarship at the U of Nottingham. Thank God, I got 100% scholarship too. I think you should try download the application guidance document on the U of Nottingham's website as it clearly states the category an applicant belongs to. I've inboxed you. Try to respond, so that we can align.

The mony myst be in a bank for a minimum OF 28 DAYS, it can be there for longer with no problem.
As long as the money remains untouched and allways above the amount stated.
It is better to print your statement as close to the intervew as possible.
If there is a long time between printing then anything could have happened to the money, which worries the visa officer.

What do you mean by they don't go together? I contacted the school and they said I only have to pay the stated amount. Anyway thanks for the heads up, when I pay for the CAS I would remind them to include the scholarship and bursary.

Well Petitediva, you don't need to pay for the CAS.
Since you've gotten some help in the form of both partial Scholarship, the U of Nottingham will acknowledge it on your CAS and then write the balance on it too.
However, you should be able to show enough proof of funds in the form of a bank statement.

Are you serious? That is awesome. Congratulations Meritl.... I was hoping for the 100% but 50% is all good too. It is quite a competitive scholarship. I have downloaded it but I was not clear about it. I guess I would choose Yes and explain about my mother's bank account in the explanation column. My course is public health. What is yours?

Print it after you get the appointment date.

Unfortunately I have to pay a deposit of 2000 before I can be issued the CAS. It is on their website. And I confirmed it from a staff...

Its stated that one needs to pay £2,000 initial deposit before a CAS is issued but I felt you already have some waivers hence, you didn't have to deposit.
Just asking; did you tell the person you called that you already have some awards in the form of partial scholarships?
If you did, please do as she says.

Wow! Nice one. Im in Manchester busy with group works and preparing for exams. The hassles are much here, from one activity to another. I cant believe ive been here for almost 6 months and it seems like yesterday.

@justwise. sorry to ask this cos i am confused. by applying for visa online, will only that be enough. I saw some hard copy form being sold in front of embassy manually being filled into. Do i need that to?

Yes online application is all you need but you still need to printout out the same form and attach all your supporting documents for physical submission.

Basically after submitting the form online you print it out and attach the same set of documents you uploaded online then submit at the visa centre on your appointment day.
