Hello everyone, I've learnt a lot from discussions here.

I am applying to UOIT for January 2016 session. I will be going with my toddler she'll be 2yrs by then. I hope to use the child care center within the institution for her care during my schools hours.

I am still worried about getting a decent affordable accommodation for both of us. I read of Family stay or something as an accommodation option but don't really understand what it is. Please I need elaboration.

Secondly, hubby and I applied for FSW December last year, if it goes through, will I get any child support stipend?
If your FSW goes through. Your child would be eligible for government benefits from the day you become a permanent resident i.e after completing landing formalities.

I am sure the school has Family Housing that you can apply for. Check the school "housing " website. Or u can also search for accommodation off campus using kijiji.com or rentboard.ca.

Since your daughter will be using the uni's child care, the family housing will be a better option, as it is usually close to the child care centre...well in my own case it shares same fence with the child care.

Has she gotten a spot at the child care, is she already on the centralised wait list? You need to be fast about it. I registered my daughter on the centralised wait list for my province in October 2014 for September 2015 and she only started getting spaces this month...

I agree with u 150%. Making a first class was not easy ooo. Life in school was a triangle...class to hostel to church to hostel, but it was worth it in the end. I never stayed in d labour market for one day. I started working immediately after school even before i served 1 year later. The thing is some people with first class are only excellent in academics but lacking in soft skills. In the labour market you need both certificate and soft skills to get a decent job (I mean Multinational).

You can make a 1st class all you want, but if you are not eloquent, articulate and able to think outside the box enough to wow your interviewers...sorry is your name o.

But in all never rule out the power of favour!

Crich:

Ah! Her case needs special prayers. What happened to bank jobs? Ah ah! Not a 30k job na no matter how bad. There's something wrong somewhere. I still stand on my earlier statement. First class has a place somewhere good in this country as long as it can be defended. U dont expect a first class material to be employed if he cant sell himself/defend d degree during an interview.

Hello everyone. Am new on this forum. I have b.sc accounting with a second class upper. I have been working for almost 2 years as well as doing part time in my ACCA. Currently planning on doing my masters in canada. can some one advise on way forward and affordable schools in canada or probably schools that offer scholarships. Thanks.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by Team12: 9:46am On Jun 27, 2015
First step is to register your child on the centralised wait list for the province you are headed. You will be able to select schools and add to her profile, that way she is automatically on each school's wait list, then you seat back and pray she gets a space before you resume. Each school will contact you when there is a space available for him or her.

With regards to accommodation, you can either go for Family housing on campus or get an accommodation off campus. Check kijiji or rentbaord.ca

Pinkygrace, how long did she apply for? How many organisations did she apply to? How was her presentation/performance at the interviews(very key)? Why should first class give u an automatic job? She should be able to reconfirm her intelligence to the interviewers.
Let her go teach in her university instead of dt secondary sch. Let her not frustrate her degree. Go, advise her
Her university promised her a job since 2011 till now and other unversities, they said go and do masters first which she has done. My dear she is so down.

Normally, you have all the funds guaranteed so, that is covered.

I hope you submitted funds of your own or assets in your name.

If your have a family (wife and kids) that'd be perfect or a leave letter from your place of work.

Those may stand in as home ties for you.

Since you submitted tho-God will favour you.

Don't let that bother you, it wouldn't affect your application... This people have high regards for people going for higher degree expecially with full funding... I know must USask graduate funding covers both tuition and living expenses... Your SOA is just an added advantage and you don't need a sponsor since your funding covers everything you need... You can have other home ties... I just hope u write a very convincing SOP to show the VO you are a passionate PhD student whose only intention of going to Canada is to do your PhD and return to Nigeria. There are lots of ways to show home ties... I used my long term goal and my plans in Nigeria after graduation for my home ties, since I don't have a job or family (wife and children).

And yes I'm speaking from experience, I also have full funding from USask thou I'm going for Masters, and as I write to you I have already gotten my TRV... Just waiting for my travel time which is probably ending August. But I have included my SOA as an added advantage since I have some amount In the account (which I never show how i get the money)... But it's never a must requirement for some one with full funding, I know of a friend going for PhD in SFU who applied and got his TRV with only funding latter, LOA, SOP...
