Please I've a question for the experts or anyone that have knowledge on it.

1. I price 1.8 Metre dish here in Abuja but i was told the last price is N12000 is it a fair price?

2. They also offer to change my new 4922a with new 4940 but I'll add N3000 should i accept?

Which receiver is more efficient between 4922a and 4940.

Tnx for your assistance.

1. Buy 90 cm dish (1.8m getting irrelevant by the day) or go bigger for a 3m dish
2. Go for 4940HD to watch Mytv channels

Tnx for your usual advice.

But can i still use 4049HD to watch free to air channels?

Because i was told that 4922a is the best compare to 4049 interms of free to air.

@Avedon dnt even try to trade ur 4922a with 4940,unless u wanted to be restricted to only MYTV and some free to air,and keep ur self away from other goodies that will show face in future and for the 1.8meter dish @kubwa 3Gs sell it for 11k last price.

In the future if he needs a biss decoder, there are many options outside of 4922a.
Mr Avedon, FTA from 30cm to 1.8m dish is currently poor. No quality channels.
Trade it for 4940 and enjoy mytv with other FTA channels.

After all, no biss enabled channels now apart from tv3 on 1.8m in Abuja

@avedon u can go for the 4940 or 4935 to enjoy mytv channels, the only edge 4922a has over 4940 is that it accepts biss key and moreover no biss enabled channel at present except tv3, as for 1.8 dish I sell for 11k but that size of dish is getting irrelevant by the day...I advise u go for 60 or 90m dish.

Mr aveton as a satellite expert in FTA don't waist your 4922A receiver with additional powervu encryption channels you can enjoy more sports and don't let us be discouraged irib will come back and many more goodies on 4922A with iptv account you can have all the sport channels if you have good internet and I bet you but with 4940 it is as if you put yourself in the cage because that receiver has nothing to offer you than mytv channels , so my brother the choice is yours.my advice for you is to keep your 4922 because another fta channels is coming up very soon and beinsport may come with it because TNTSAT africa is warming up .

Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Blackshort: 4:27pm On Jun 28, 2015
Never exchange your 4922A for any strong decoder. 4922A is so far the best of all strong decoders. We don't know what future holds for us. In the world of FTA, decoders which don't accept biss keys are the useless of all decoders. And that renders 4940 almost useless. From experience, all FTA channels which show big live matches are locked with biss. You don't have to let go your decoder because of mytv. If mytv is helpful, we wouldn't be crying out loud over irib. Should the almighty Irib come back, the 4940 will have no legs to stand on. If you have space, buy 1.8m dish. Some channels may come which will require such dish size. 90cm won't help.

The initiative of Africable, several media groups have joined forces to create the first West African satellite platform. At stake, broadcasting a bouquet of 42 channels accessible via also compatible with DTT decoders.

Scheduled for June 2015 in Africa, the transition to digital terrestrial television (DTT) gives ideas to Malian Ismaïla Sidibé, founder and CEO of Africable, and the Togolese Aquereburu Richard, CEO of Media Plus International. Combined with another group of African media and the Malian construction contractor whose names were not disclosed, the two businessmen will launch in September the first satellite platform based in West Africa.

Thanks to the telecommunication station (teleport) built in Bamako this year, the company TNT Sat Africa will broadcast from late September on satellite SES4 a bouquet of 42 channels freely available (including international channels), in which developers agree associate African national televisions and premium TV channels.

lol. 4940Hd is not like a cage. You can subscribe with it to enjoy all mbcs which is better than all fta channels receivable on 1.8m in Abuja. Biss enabled decoders are cheap in the market now with some as low as N6000.
Dont waste your money on 1.8m dish

Cost implication of 1.8m dish for Mr Aveton in Abuja
1.8m dish=11,000
cband=1500
kuband=4000
pole=4000
Jack and Positioner=5000
Cable=2000
Misc=2000
Maybe Installer=5000
Total=N34,500

result of 1.8m in ABUJA
Best Channels
TVC news, BBC, Aljazeera under Eutelsat 16e (receivable under 90cm dish)
Joy tv, joy prime under Astra 28.2e (receivable under 90cm dish)
Church tvs under Intel 68.5e (receivable under 90cm dish)
All these channels are not quality compared to the money spent.

If He takes the caged option 4940HD grin grin grin He has the following channels, All of the above plus the mytv package including the much respect mbc. The mytv series, local movies have no equivalent in fta receivable under 1.8m dish at the moment
90cm dish=3500
60cm dish=2500
1 ku lnb=500
upgrade from 4922a to 4940HD= 3000
Install=2000
First subcription with card=2050 to last 3 months
9 months sub=800X9=7200
Total=N20,750 with better quality channels

If in the future, he needs biss channels, he can go for a N6000 enabled biss decoder or better go for a sunplus decoder

Cheats cannot work on your Strong decoder. Your 4922a will not match an iptv or android box. My 2 m8s android boxes and mag260 box was mopped up by my colleagues at a premium price when it arrived and will be getting another one soonest. Its real HD quality and better than all satellites put together. The only limitation is data.

If you want to enjoy football, then get an android box like the m8s or Starsat. Starsat cost about N9000 and you are sure of French League, Dutch League, German League, UEFA champions league, UEFA cup, European qualifiers, etc. Monthly sub from 1800 - 3600 per month.

To enjoy premium sports, a big dish from 3m above is a must. All leagues available.

Irib I can authoritatively tell you all is gone for good on Arab 5c and the reason has nothing to do with Dstv. Just today Al-jazeera announced that Saudi Arabia had warned the Iranian broadcasting network about a program they deemed offensive and told them to pull down, but that was not heeded to and that has lead us here. Irib was pulled down with immediate effect. Saudi controls the Satellite Arab 5C were we got irib tv3 and varzesh from. So our biggest options remain other satellites were Irib transmits from aside Arab 5c. Thank u.

@EMMAACHILE,
I'm more interested in what happens after the 9 months subscription. What cost will he incur say in 18months, 24months, 36months, etc?
To say payTV is better than FTA regardless of the amount paid, whether one naira or five naira is rather misleading.
Peeps like us moved away from PAYTV not because we could not afford the subscription but because over a lifetime it is money better
spent elsewhere.
