The Gurus in the house i greet. I noticed the central lock of my Accord 2006 model is malfunctioning. The lock chooses when to respond to the remote, even when i try with the key itself. Sometimes it locks me out and refuses to open, then after sometime it opens. Today i noticed only the drivers side opens with the remote. I have to open the rest doors from the inside. An electrician worked on the catcher yesterday yet the problem persists. Please what do i do? I need info so that i don't fall victim to these 'trial and error' technicians. Thanks in advance

While luvinhubby may be right, I have a different opinion.

I think the fuse controlling your central lock had initially malfunctioned from partial contact, then finally got blown (hence the initial intermittent problems, which has now come to stay).

A fuse malfunction/ blown fuse will give exactly the symptoms you've described EXCEPT that you can readily open the driver's door with the key ALWAYS.

For all it's worth, check the fusebox beneath your steering column, just above where you open your car hood. It's just a 20 Amp fuse that shouldn't cost more than 30-50 naira to replace.

Hello everyone please how can I differentiate between the ceramic brake pads and the semi metallic. I know when the semi metallic is fixed it gives the black dust... But I want to purchase the ceramic type and need to be able to tell the difference before It is fixed

Pls I need urgent advice, I am actually good at a little mechanical work cos I attended a 6months course on auto. As such, I do most of my mechanical work that I can handle. I have not attempted touching my wheels before cos I give to competent hand(reason, I feel d wheels are the most important thing). The tie rod was changed 3 months back and now I am noticing a ka ka sound when turning. Could it be the new tie rod is damaged? If yes, when I loose it myself, where can I fix it in lagos(around egbeda and environs).
And secondly my ac turns on and sometimes it doesn't pick immediately , what could be wrong?

C.V. Joints (popularly called drive shafts) is the faulty part & not tie rod ends.

I didn't. I'm just guessing its O2 sensor dat can cause too much fuel consumption since catalytic conv. is OK. pls wch other scan are u talking abt

On a 1994 accord the O2 sensor plays a very little part in fuel economy.

so people, after i got no response from anyone about the ceramic brake pads, i went on a quest...
I went to the market and acted like i knew what i wanted; I realised some people don't even realise there's a difference between ceramic brake pads and the metallic... All they say is "dis one na the better type" I eventually found the brake pads. and guess what the major difference is this
- colour (ceramic has a lighter colour)
- Less dust ( in my case no dust at all i guess because the pads are not jet black and maybe it's too soon to notice the dust)
- No noise when you brake (completely noiseless)

Am i happy---- very much so... I got my Honda dw-1 Atf and 0w- 20 fully synthetic Engine oil.

car service done, brake pads changed... wink

Please everyone, i really hope to benefit from this thread oo.... especially when i'm in desperate need....

Hello house ... I have two problems with my honda accord 2006

1) the ac compressor and condenser were changed but after a while colder air started
Coming out of the passenger side, the driver's side feels warmer and takes a while to pick up.
2) I recently noticed my power steering oil leaked while driving I toped the oil and got the leaking pipe patched but right now the steering feels stiffer than before I got the leak patch.

Pls what might be wrong

Replace the entire powersteering pipe.

You have a leak in your a.c system and soon both sides will be blowing hot air grin
fix the leak.

Hello gurus in the house
my 03 Accord has got a myriad of issues:
1. the car gives a high-pitched sharp noise in d engine on start -up, but does not if I start it later in the day
2. my engine vibrates on turning on the a.c. If I use the AC or drive for long periods, the gear doesn't engage in time and when it eventually does, it does with a forward' jerk'.
3. ThE AC is hardly chilling.
Please, your expert advice and opinions are needed
Thanks

I have this same issue with my Honda civic 2008. Once I turn on my A.C especially when I traffic, the engine vibrates causing the car to jerk when moving slowly...

I own a 2006 Honda Civic (Automatic) and my car has the following issues:

1. Occasionally, the " D light" on the dashboard blinks while driving instead to be stable.

2. When it does that, and I shift the gear to any position ( D2, D3 or R), it will engage, but the indicator will be both in " D " and any other position shifted to.

3. Whenever I experience the situation in 1 above, while driving it jerks heavily when approaching 30-40 Km/hr.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking of changing the gearbox, but I need expert advice on this forum 1st

Come for a scan before you have it replaced, it might be a faulty solenoid or speed sensor
