Who won die tuna? Sanayampi meaning.....kikikiki
Who want to get himself killed? I don't really know the meaning of tuna, tchana, sanayampeealley, but the chinese in wempco group say these alot. I quit to show Tua (chinese foreman) that as a nigerian, I have choices and can quit cos i'm not afraid of being sacked. As for Tua, he has worst nightmare: his father and mother are in payroll of wempco group in Nigeria, and they fear Mr. Phillip grin

I advise any aggrieved workers there to simply but secretly sue the company for improper working condition and in difference or neglect. you can just meet any lawyer and ask for advice... u could really get a fat compensation at the end

it is a pity dat in nigeria work places are ''WORK & DIE'' while in other countries of d world it is ''WORK & SHOP''...serious if u have work or a regular visitor to any of de so call factories in Nigeria, specially in Lagos and Ogun state, u will knw dat there is hell on earth here in nigeria factories.
how i wish GMB and his team will save nigeria from dis gate of hell by bouncing on dis blood socker call factory management.

meanwhile may his soul RIP

I hope that the Nigeria Factories Act will be enforced by the government one day. I wish an NGO (akin to GREENPEACE and their efforts on the Environment) would arise in Nigeria and focus on protecting the health and safety of Nigerian Factory workers. We have the laws but they are never enforced.

RIP to the deceased.

Hmm I would have been sliced into two at this company 15 years ago. I used to operate the machine that sharpens the blade that slices the timber to veneer for plywood. One night, I was trying to use the crane (lever) to lift the heavy blade from the table to its casing by my foot, after dressing the sharp edge and oiling it so people on night duty can use it. Unknown to me, one of the two hooks did not key into the handle. It was payday and the chinese boy wont let me go at past 7, ooo. As I pull the simple lever to myself after lifting the blade, the blade fell off the hook and crash against the table but went in right direction instead of pinning and slicing me against the wall. Tua, the 'master' chineseboy on duty, rushed in to the workshop crying 'who won die tuna?' Sanayampi, I was just cold and dumbfounded! What a close shave with sure maim and death, a common occurrence in that slave camp. My colleagues said maybe God spare me for his purpose. Few months later, I quit. Mi o le wa ku ntori tenkobo.
God knows the number of lives u culd av saved if you report the unsafe wrking conditions in the company to atleast a press correspondence.

Honestly I don't know how that will work at the time, but the head office where I worked then is at Ogba, at a stone throw to Nigeria Institute of Journalism. You know company rumours, they will name nigerians in high places as being shareholders, board of trustee. They will also say that our government has sold us to them and that our countrymen took them to where they buy garri and pour it into water to prove that chinese only need to pay us little and stuffs like that. The people do strike often for pay raise.

It does seem that some of these deaths could have been avoided if proper safety procedure was followed.

For example, Working under suspended load is always risky and should be avoided.

I understand how difficult it is to survive in nigeria, millions of pple ready to take up the job if you blink resignation not to talk of claiming your right. Our leaders knows the solution to the problem facing the country, they are afraid of how long it will take to cover the millions they would have stolen if the system is what it is today.
I pray for a better tomorrow.

Sacrifice of/for industrialization that built the great empires of Britain, Germany, China, Russia and America. Man up.

P.S. I hope you didn't quit for buying and selling. That will be the real tragedy.

Who is the owner of this company, who are the people in their management team? Do they not have families? The blood of the innocent will certainly cry for justice. Evil men.

So every one should start leaving jobs right? - how sustainable is that? How about companies valuing people's lives and providing safety equipment?
People like you who think it is okay to excuse these kind of things are part of the problem.

It is the duty of every employer to provide care and safe working environment for his workmen# where none exist, a lawsuit can b filed against such employer should any case of hazard/injury occur on any of his employees. But if it was due to the negligence/careless of his workmen, such lawsuit cannot hold water

Ma sis, its been a long time that the leaders sold us. I used to be depressed working at the coy, during christmas then, they use to put a pighead sacrifice on a raised platform and then ask workers to bow for it and get instant cash reward. My friends used to joke about one man that bow many time so he can recieve more money. Some of us have problem within problem: we are in a rot (problem) we keep coping with rot (problem) I used to wonder, why cant we quit when it no longer make sense?

Thats a lie, I don't live in the delution that I will invent machines that will solve human problems, I said it to myself then after the experience that I will never work for payday ever in my life. I stick to this till now. So, I believe in my ability and I have gone through variant cycles. I am not afraid of tragedy. But I don't pray for one.

Absolutely right point. They had tasted undiluted poverty, this scare them subconsciously hence they want to steal all they can to be 'save'.
