Mambilla 3050MW Hydro-electric power station(one of the hydro electric power stations under construction)
SA is already contributing on the world biggest hydro power station in Congo for which it will have a stake. The Inga hydo power station is said to produce 40 000MW of power when completed.

Tell that to your children. Nigeria will never surpass SA in power productions. SA is heading forward to build more mines estimated at 15 and they require more power that will exceed that the power that Nigeria can think of in any day.
While your children are leading you around in the dark with candles in your old age,we will be colonizing sub-saharan africa with electricity, and getting paid for it.
By 2050,we would have doubled our power output from 48 000MW to 120 000MW,enough to power the whole of africa and still have enough left to gaze upon.
It would be a battle for supremacy, which of course you will lose.

EVarn:
Nigerians generate over 62 000MW of electricity everyday through individually assisted power generation{IAPG}.
Moreover, due to recent privatization of all power generation and distribution companies,Nigeria now has an installed capacity to generate 6580MW of electricity, but due to gas pipeline repairs,we currently generate over 4000MW of power with at least 19 hours of stable power supply per day in most part of the country.
maybe we should just stick to the discussion on the best military in Africa. Nigeria has its problems and south Africa does too, but this are issues that do not represent the main purpose for which this thread was created.

Some kinds damn deadly MPA with ISTAR and AWACS capabilities all combined into one aircraft.....NAF ATR-42.

ELINT, not COMINT, that's what it majors on, ELINT. Does ELINT exist in SANDF ? No !

Analyze emissions detected? Easy job for ATR-42....

"ATR-42 ELECTRONIC SUPPORT MEASURES (ESM)
Functions
■ Detection of long range radar targets
during night and in adverse weather
conditions, even in dense signal
environment
■ Recording data and loading libraries
on intercepted radar
Capabilities
■ Radar emissions detection in a dense
electromagnetic environment (2-18
Ghz)

■ Radar emissions analysis,
identification and location

■ Tracking on multiple emissions
simultaneously
■ High degree of flexibility to meet the evolution radar of the environment"

http://www.atraircraft.com/datas/download_center/38/atr_42_surveyor_2004_38.pdf

Patrick Patches, leave this NAF ATR-42 Surveyor random arguments, you have lost the battle completely !

NAF ATR-42 is MPA + ISTAR + ESM + ELINT + AWACS.....multi-purpose aircraft equal to the best in USA and EU !
.
Limited capabilities to do things does not make a thing a thing

Its MPA according to the manufacturer

And how has that ended up for South-Africa?

The majority of your land systems use European made parts. South-Africa only mostly builds hulls.

You cannot sustain a war without major imports, you are self-dependant on european imports like every other African Nations.
Engines arent subject to arms embargoes

How has it ended up for us? top 20 arms exporter in the world... thats how cool

The MRAPs, how has that worked out for South-Africa, with Bushmaster, Navatis, Sandcat, Typhoon K, Typhoon, Cougar, BMC...... You now get the point?
Pretty well, considering new sales are allmost constantly announced

Henry120:
The U.S fielded 12,700 MRAPs in Afghanistan from 2007 - eventual withdrawal. By 2012, the U.S had spent $50 billion in manufacturing 27,000 MRAP vehicle.

Here you are bragging about the less than 150 systems BAE systems South-Africa sold to the Americans.
Less than 150??

Hahaha.... you should check your figures
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 1:52pm On Jul 03, 2015

We don't export MRAPs, but you do. You claim to export a product, but got roundly beaten, used and dumped by those you claim to export to.

The world's most popular MRAPs are, Maxxpro( USA), Cougar (USA), Bushmaster (Australia), BMC(Turkey), CS/VP3 (China). These are the world's most widely known MRAPs, yet South-Africa is supposed to be an MRAP design leader..... LOL!!
RG series has seen service in multiple militaries

US MRAP's are the most popular as the US has strict guidelines about domestic production

Fact is, top 20 arms exporter

The fvck? ........They are based on the various companies extensive design and testings.

They are not based on South-African MRAPs.
Who invented the MRAP as we know it?
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 1:54pm On Jul 03, 2015
Henry120:
Cougar is based on American design and extensive tests.

The Americans are leaders in MRAP design, and the Cougar, maxxpro & Bushmaster are the world's most popular MRAPs.

DCD and Mekahog collaborated on the IKRI MRAP, with the Nigerian Police providing technical inputs. Nigerians schooled you on how an an efficient/cost effective MRAP should built.
No, Nigerians gave input on how to improve an existing platform suited to your needs.

How can nigeria, that has never built an MRAP, school anyone?

How are American MRAP's better?
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 1:55pm On Jul 03, 2015
Henry120:
No, It is basic physics. MRAPs usually have V shaped hulls in other to deflect and spread blast across areas from point of impact.

Your claim is ludacris as all vehicles on a V shaped hull trace their origin to the leopard APC. A Rhodesian vehicle.
Yeah, hate to break it to you but the leopard was a civilian vehical
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 1:56pm On Jul 03, 2015
agaugust:
Nope, it's all based on common sense of simple physics, an exploding mine under a vehicle will be forced to blast into the air and less under the vehicle by the V-hull/chasis shape. that's basic human common sense of physics, or you see copyright for that anywhere?

Can anybody claim copyright for the V shaped hull of speed boats?

#Delusional
"hurr durr its physics"

Then why did the Americans not think about it until they got their hands on South African MRAP's?

[s]You think 3,000 MW will power the massive oil industry, talk less of manufacturing and residential homes?

The 3,000 MW people quote is federal government generation alone.

Another power production sector is called IPP, independent power producers, there are several private companies NOT federal government, and they produce more power than the government.

Nigerian oil companies have private power generation companies called IPP

State governments also have state owned power generation companies, also under IPP.

http://businessdayonline.com/2014/07/nigerias-ipp-scene-picking-up-on-back-of-power-sector-reforms/

Twenty new IPP companies were licensed in 2011 because of the success of existing ones.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/12/fg-issues-20-licences-to-ipps/

You seem to become more and more ignorant about Nigeria as we educate you, the more we teach, the less you understand, typical Bantu.

Nigeria as a whole is in the region of about 10,000 MW power generation from dozens of federal, states, and private power companies.

That's fresh education for you at no cost, mumu [/s] grin
Citations have shown that the two power stations we are building and that will come online in the next 4 years will by themselves produce more power than your entire national grid.

We can compare SA and NIG.

We both have load shedding today.

We both are expanding power generation.

We both are building nuclear power plants.

We both are building solar power plants.

We both are advancing, there is NOTHING in South Africa that Nigeria does not have in terms of technology, NOTHING !
.
Lets compare

More Nigerians live without electricity than there are South Africans

Our power generation expansion matches the entire power generation of your country

You are not building nuclear anything, we are

Our Solar plants are on a completely different scale to yours

You may have *some* of the technology we have... but you are doing nothing on the scale that we are doing it on

SA has no lakes otherwise we could have had plenty of those.

You will continue to have power cuts till Nigeria comes to colonize you with electricity.

By the time you reach 100 000MW,Nigeria would have reached or even surpassed that amount.
You do not know the huge power projects currently being contructed,Nigeria is building another 5000MW hydro-electric power dam along with solar energy projects that would run into over 6000MW.We are also increasing the capacity of our existing power generators by hundreds of megawatts,in 2015 alone, license have being issued for the construction of many gas power plants(at least 6 thermal power plants),a huge coal power plant of 2000MW in the east and other IPPs in the country.By 2020,we will have a combine capacity of 48 000MW to power Africa's biggest economy, largest industry and richest country.

That is a biggest lie on mother earth. What is it that Nigeria will be doing and SA not doing? Our so called power crisis which I do not see as power crisis since I do not mind to live without power for only three hours once a week, is not going to last for over three years. I bet you, once our three new power stations kick start and shed to the grid the problem will be a history.

South Africans are used to electricity such that they do not even want to miss it for only 30 minutes. Just take power from South Africans for only 5-6 hours and see that it will make the headlines tomorrow. Many African countries including Nigeria are used to the dark and they are now comfortable with it.
